Went recently to the Traditional Trades day; we had a blast! The staff were so kind and patient with my daughter, but firm and respectful on things like "No you may not use the saw," or "Hang on, Miss, let me finish" There's so much to see and interact with and my overly-curious six-year-old HAS to touch everything; these guys handled it like pros and made sure she had a super safe and fun visit :)

Great little hidden gem in Kingfisher, OK. Some great information and neat artifacts make it worth the trip.

Great little museum of a very important chapter in the history of the American Frontier. Unfortunately, they were renovating when I came in, so some parts of the museum were inaccessible, but I was still able to poke around and see the special exhibit I came to see. It's a bit of a hike from OKC, but it's good to see a community like Kingfisher have this attraction. Recommended for history buffs in the OKC area, go support this institution!

Great way to spend an hour maybe 2. Fun road trip from OKC to see a small part of rural Oklahoma. As far as the museum it's mostly late 1800 exhibits focusing a lot on the Oklahoma Land Run. Also part of the entrance price is you get to tour the Seay Mansion which was built in 1893. They say the mansion is haunted which is awesome. I noticed when I was inside the mansion by myself when the heater kicked on the piano strings vibrated. Could have been a coincidence or the woman who supposedly haunts the house. Who knows, still awesome.

This is one of the neatest museums I have ever been to. Not very many museums do you get to walk in full historic buildings fully furnished and walk around as they did 100 years ago. You get to be right up close to the items on display. Obviously they have more important and valuable irreplaceable items that you can't get close to. But overall a very nice museum. It's a $5 entry fee for an adult. They have family passes and military discounts.

We enjoy stopping at small museums as we travel to learn about local history. The Chisholm Trail Museum had several well-done and interesting exhibits about the Trail and cowboy life. Outside, there was an old school, church, bank, and a log cabin to tour. The buildings looked like they sure needed some maintance to remain safe to tour! It also appeared that the buildings were set up for school groups, but there was little information for the average drop in visitor. All of that took about 30-40 minutes to tour. The staff was OK...but simply took our money and disappeared. 😅 I guess they had things to do. We weren't able to tour the mansion across the street because of construction work being done on the front roof, but no discount on the entrance fee. The staff said, "Sorry, but you came on a work day." Hmmmm...I guess so!

We visited for the "Chuck Wagon Grill Round-up." We got there late but got to visit with a few cooks. Next year we will go early. A family fun event.
