Updated review. So I love this place. The food is usually so good. I usually get the fajitas. I wanted to try something new. I tried the Enchiladas (steak,chicken,shrimp) I found I'm not a fan of the house special sauce.

My wife and I at here for the first time recently. Outstanding food and atmosphere. Fresh-made guacamole, oysters on the half shell, molcajete bowl, and Texas fajitas. Excellent all around and highly recommended! More people need to be eating at Santa Fe Mexican Grill!!

I always read the menu before I arrive, because I like to have an idea of what to order. My husband and I chose to go here on a date night, and I saw they had "apple martinis" on their cocktail menu, so when our waiter asked about our drinks, that's what I ordered. He said that wasn't on the menu, and then returned with a cocktail menu. When I found it and pointed it out, he said, "I guess I'll have to learn to make one.", which was extremely unprofessional. The ambiance was fine, and the food was good. The cocktail I ordered wasn't very good at all, and I really didn't get much of a chance to say anything to the waiter. All of the wait staff seemed so rushed, and it wasn't even busy. Our food came out almost immediately, which was really nice. The only thing I'm confused about is why have a full cocktail menu if you don't have a proper bartender?

The food was excellent! We just moved here from Southern Kalifornistan, so we know good Mexican food. It's not quite the same as the roadside taco stands we frequented in CA, but it was still great food. The wait staff were fantastic as well! Super friendly, always keeping drinks full, and checking on us frequently. It was a great experience!

Great service & food! We were in town visiting for a baseball tournament and took our entire team and parents—a total of 25 people. They were accommodating and friendly with our large group. Our server, Nacho gave fantastic recommendations for house specialties—the Tacos a La Diabla were incredible & spicy. Food came out fast and accurate. Would definitely recommend for large groups/events for sports teams.

Very spacious and clean. The chips and salsa were ok, not great. The chips tasted like they were from a bag and not made there. The salsa was ok. Ordered the Pineapple Fajita. It's served in a Pineapple half. The steak and vegetables were delicious and married with the Pineapple chunks very well. The Pineapple was so fresh and full of flavor. The refried beans were so bland, I'd pass on them. Sweet tea was good too. Staff was very inviting and polite. My wife said the restrooms were clean. Pretty good and will go back for more.

My partner and I started coming here in late 2020. In 2022 we came in for their amazing margaritas and wonderful food. We usually order the large “bowl” margaritas when we stop in and usually have 2 each (we stay for a long time). But in 2022 we ordered our usual margaritas that came to us with no tequila. We questioned it between the two of us and thought maybe it was just a fluke. Ordered another and the same thing happened. I called the restaurant after we left to complain and gave the name of our waitress. Fast forward to today, we decide to finally come back and see if it happens again and IT DID!! We told the waitress we who did not seem surprised and were told she would remake them herself. We got new margaritas WITH tequila. When paying we realized IT WAS THE SAME WAITRESS (Alejandra) from the last time!! We will not be returning again. This establishment has gotten the last of our money.

This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in town. But what did you do to the salsa?? I loved coming here because the salsa was really good and not spicy like everywhere else and now it’s really spicy!! You need to make it not spicy for people to enjoy. I can’t eat really spicy things and I LOVE salsa. Please bring back the mild salsa

Been going here on and off for a while with office staff. But lately the service has gone down hill. The other week they screwed up on two of the three orders and gave attitude about doing it. Then stopped serving one of our party? And today one of our staff, not from the other week, sat there for over 25 minutes with no service and left. As before, the staff tended to other tables, of their friends, over ours. "We" will not be going back. Good luck.

Always Great Food and fast. No matter how busy been here a few dozen times. Clean as well. Everyone I go I have favorites. Here is the Chicken Red Enchiladas w/ rice and bean. Sometimes can't even finish it. Want a House drink try a Radiator or coolant..? LOL must be good I forget. Pretty tasty though..

I came back to Kingsport for the first time in a few months for my grandfather's funeral. We decided to have dinner here last friday night. The food was great but the waitress kinda seemed she didnt want to be there. My mom ordered 2 enchiladas and she was brought a burrito and then when my mom said she ordered two enchiladas, the waitress got a bit of an attitude and said no thats one burrito. Thats what you ordered. I've loved santa fe since it opened years ago and I'll never step foot in a La Carreta. I believe his name is Nacho and he is by far the best server there. Had him a few times.

I've been here several times and have a great experience 99% of the time. I have had a few waitresses that weren't very friendly, but only 1 of those few still work here. The food has always been delicious and the margaritas are awesome as well.

Amazing place to take your family for Mexican food. I've been told "yeah its Mexican but it's not authenticate." Well I'm still confused on how it can be one and not the other. Regardless, amazing food, great atmosphere with friendly and timely service. You will want to keep coming back!!

Not terrible. Food was made with fresh ingredients and cooked well. But it was bland. The service was bland. Everything about this place is bland. I suppose that's why folks around here give it such a high rating. If you're one of those rare few who actually want flavor, spice, and authenticity, keep driving.

The menu here looks and reads amazingly but the food that I have ordered has not lived up to the expectations I had from looking at the menu. I’ve been here twice and not wanted to go back however did when a family member wanted to try it. Still not impressed. I will go back one more time to order something they make special… one more try and that it.

Fell in love with this place ever since they first opened. Great Mexican food. Employees families sometimes eat here as well so it's very family friendly. Owner/manager is also one of a kind. Best in the business! ;)

Excellent service, crazy fast food preparation, and the veggie Quesadilla I ordered tasted amazing. It came with rice and beans, and they kept the salsa coming. Love the atmosphere here, and the wait to be seated never seems very long at all. This is a local favorite whenever my work colleagues want a good Mexican food place for lunch.

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant...anywhere! Food is fresh in a more traditionally Mexican/Tex Mex style. They do offer the more cheesy American also if that is what you like. Something for everyone. So Delicious! you find yourself craving it and have to go back!

By far my favorite place to eat Mexican cuisine! The food is ALWAYS amazing!!! Staff is friendly and helpful! I have tried several things and never been disappointed but my go-to is the Santa Fe Cheese Chicken. Tried their bean dip for the first time yesterday, delicious! Their Chile Rellenos and Chile Poblanos are wonderful as well! If you haven't tried Santa Fe yet, go for it! We tried santa fe for the first time today and we will definitely be coming back! As soon as you walk in, the smell of their food immediately lets you know you are in for a real treat. The margaritas are wonderful, as is the salsa and chips you get to munch on while you choose what you would like to eat from their huge menu selection. The service was wonderful. Everyone was happy and smiling and very friendly. We had such a wonderful experience! Thanks so much!

Huge menu. Good selections for vegetarians. Employees are very friendly. Chips and salsa fresh. Food came out quickly and was hot, fresh and very good. Prices are very affordable.

Marvelous! I didn’t even know this place was here. These enchiladas remind me of Mexican food out west! My wife brought me food take out and even reheated, everything was phenomenal… when does THAT ever happen?

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant. The food is always delicious and made with the freshest ingredients. The staff is always attentive with drink refills, chips and salsa refills and everyone is very kind and courteous. If you haven't tried this establishment yet then you are missing an excellent meal at a wonderful restaraunt! They get busy during lunch and dinner however the service is still on point. Give this place a try, you won't be disappointed. They also have outdoor seating with a covered deck for those nice days when it is just too pretty to sit indoors.
