We drove to the bottom of the hill and hiked up. You can drive through the nursing home parking lot and then park on the other side close to were the trail starts. About half way up there is a small parking lot. It’s a great hike up about 1500 meters. Great views of the castle from below. There’s also parking right at the entrance of the castle, but it’s a 5€ fee. There’s a ticket booth after the parking lot. The charge is 6€ even if you don’t want to go inside. There’s a large courtyard with seating and they serve lunch. The castle is very small but well preserved and it’s worth climbing up to the tower to see the views.
The fortress is privately owned. There is a small museum in the castle itself. Residential castle. There is a good restaurant without any frills, but you will be satisfied with the good quality of cooking. Stunning views of the surrounding area. One of the few completely preserved castles on the Mosel, it was never destroyed. There is a small car park in the castle. But it is better to park at the bottom where large enough parking space.
A very beautiful haunted castle with a nice little museum. Our children were fascinated with ghosts, skeletons and towers. The way up is worth it. The people of the castle are really nice, they put so much money and time to keep this place alive, we were happy to support their cause.
The castle is beautifully situated on a hilltop with 360 views (from the tower) and wonderful views on the luscious green hills from the outside terrace. The garden with pond is a great place to chill. The rooms are spacious and nice, with a style fitting a castle (four poster beds!). The two ladies are amazing, both having worked here for decades (20+ and 40+ years)! Super friendly and make you feel welcome and at home. The only downside is the food. The breakfast is great, but dinner is not worth the price. Rustic or simple is a kind description. I would advice on bed and breakfast and eat dinner elsewhere. We got a great recommendation from the chef (thanks!) for restaurant Zum Eichambt, just a 10 minutes drive.
Beautiful location, great terrace, good food and amazing service. We walked up with the kids to have a look at Burg Arras and were welcomed in, even though they had a rühetag. We were also able to go into the museum and afterwards enjoy a fantastic lunch out on the terrace. The landlord and lady were very friendly, enthusiastic and knowledgable. My daughter was so excited she gave the landlady a big hug! All in all, a great visit and recommendation to everyone to pay Burg Arras a visit.
A unique place to say you've spent a evening where centuries of history is stored. The staff is mostly friendly. The manager Roman was very helpful wth local help finding an open wine maker willing to host on a Sunday. The meals were delicious and plentiful. I recommend the breakfast for the variety and portion of a typical German breakfast of soft boiled egg, deli meat, rolls/ bread. The patio and garden are beautiful with priceless views. Besides the enormous price tag, my main negative was with the difficult sleeping comfort. The room was very stuffy and warm. We tried to open the big beautiful windows to allow in fresh cooler air on the summer night but without screens on any windows there were too many insects allowed in to annoy our sleep. I felt like the "Princess and the Pea" by trying to get comfortable. Besides being too warm as mentioned the linens were very scratchy and rough. Sleeping was difficult. But hey I slept in a real castle!!
Very nice castle, you can roam free and explore the place which i like better than a mandatory tour. Lots to see and i loved the climb up to the tower. Very nice terrace with an amazing view. We ate a piece of hazelnut cake, which was surprisingly good. The lady serving us was very friendly. My personal favorite castle we’ve visited in the region.
