A healthy food option in a place with many other less healthy choices. Service is fast and friendly and the food has lots of flavor. I had a topped guacamole bagel that was delicious. The spicy beans and cheddar was equally tasty. The eat-in space is small and cozy. This is a neighborhood gem.

I love the food and friendly staff here. The care and attention to serving delicious vegan food in an environmentally conscious way is great. I've never been a salad lover until I tried roots salad! Also love the sweet baked potato, the quesadillas, and love the little bite size cakes and date balls, thoroughly recommend.

I definitely wouldn't call myself a salad lover, but Roots come up with the most tasty salads I've ever eaten! I more than happily eat a mix of their daily selection here. Get rid of any ideas you have about bland leaves and raw veggies, it's really next level. Heaps of vegan options, and most salads are gluten free too.

Lovely lady working and her Cappuccino was just nice with a generous dose of chocolate dusting. It's a great that they're about the sustainability initiative.

Roots provided us with the most beautiful, delicious, 100% vegan wedding cakes. Both the chocolate and the lemon sponges were PERFECT, the decorations were faultless, and every single one of our guests raved about the quality of the cake and went back for seconds. Thank you so so so much Mark and Catriona!

The food here is absolutely amazing - I have had the Budda bowl a couple of times. I love that the salad selection varies each day, and the menu is well thought out with some really unique salads. I really appreciate the notes on the menu detailing the allergens. The service is great and if you sit in, the café is cosy and there is a lovely welcoming atmosphere.

Roots is a fantastic place for a tasty lunch or breakfast (both takeaway and sit-in)! The salad bar has a great choice of delicious salads of all kinds, flavours and colours, their soups are great and everything else on the menu sounds delicious, too (am still working my way through). Love their decaf coffee and the fact that they offer vegan/vegetarian options. Their food is locally sourced and they’re all about reducing waste and sustainability. One of my favourite small indie businesses in the West End!

Roots is wonderful, they have so many lovingly prepared veggie dishes (including glorious cake!), excellent coffee and a great atmosphere. Lovely staff. I can’t wait to go back. It’s nice to find an independent business like this in the bustle of a busy town centre, which offers so many vegan treats. Highly recommend 👍

I used to work near Roots and went there for lunch every now and then. Now I work from home and I’m not that close anymore, but I always find an excuse to go there for lunch because of their fresh, locally sourced food. Their soups are delicious and their salads are to die for. The atmosphere is always nice, and the place it really cosy. And service is top! Definitely one of my favourite places in Edinburgh!

This was my first time there, I didn't have any idea of how the budda bowls worked and I asked the girl if she can help me, she just let me there for minutes and then explain me half way. Also too expensive for the amount of food you receive. £13.50 for a "big" budda bowl and £4 for a cappuccino in a 300 ml cup.

I am not vegetarian and I was very skeptical on having this kind of meal on my trip. The soup was the highlight of my day! So delicious and I would be back again just for that. Sandwiches done well. Staff is welcoming and very polite. Some of the smoothies have beetroot in it and the waitress gave a bit to try to my boyfriend before ordering it. It shows how lovely they are. The restaurant is a bit small but cozy.

Fabulous service!! The team went above and beyond to supply a corporate lunch at short notice. There were no leftovers as the food was delicious. Lovely friendly people - will definitely use again 🥰

Really enjoyed or visit here. First time. I'll be back. Good to sit and have a coffee and a sandwich on a really rainy Edinburgh day. Staff were lovely as well. Highly recommended.

👍👍 It's busy, it's tasty and always a nice experience! There is a nice range of flavours infused with spices. We went for breakfast and really enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. The naan breads with sausages, bacon and eggs were delicious. The only comment I would have is it's so busy and noisy insid...
