My review covers two points. One is Marstons policy and service towards walk-in customers and the second point is food quality. It is Marstons policy to turn walk-in customers away if the shop has received too many online orders. This is the opposite to other food businesses who will turn off their online ordering temporarily to be able to service walk-in customers. We stood in the line for ten minutes outside in the rain to give our food order to their outside customer staff, only to be turned away because we had not ordered online. There is no clear indication of this policy on their Facebook page or their website. Second part of my review is the quality of the chips. These are par chilled chips and did not travel well. We drove five minutes from the shop to eat our food in the lay-by toward the m62 and found the chips to be hard, as though they had been cooked a long time prior to serving. The quality of actual chips in the portion was about half the portion, the rest were bitty parts of chips, as per the photo.

Have driven past this place for over 30 years & never went in. Why? I will definitely revisit this place. Had a large wings -they were some of the best wings I have ever eaten

OMG best chicken ever travelled 20 mile to come ere after hearing rave reviews well worth it chicken like velvet gravy a little peppery but nice 💯 tried a bit of everything fillet burger and wings better than Krap Fried Chicken by far won't be going anywhere else

What an awesome little shop, its literally chicken in every form, beautifully cooked, I personally recommend the chicken sandwiches, especially the festive one the have in currently 😋 very reasonable price wise, simply pull into the car park place your order with the guy outside and wait for your order to be bagged, we travel from Leeds I assure you wintbbe dissapointed

By far the best chicken I've had from a take away. The chicken wings are absolutely unreal. And the Wrap was well put together with plenty of fresh ingredients. Chicken gravy is like KFCs gravy but even tastier! 10/10 will be back!

Couldn't ask for more if you're into fried chicken, everything tastes fresh and clean and is prepared to order. The chicken gravy has that perfect thickness and the wings have a thin crispy coating, similar to being double fried, with white soft juicy chicken inside. Staff are friendly and efficient. Call this a levelled up kfc with all the home comforts and personal touch, would highly recommend calling or booking in advance for swift pickup

Very Route customer service 😡😡 I bought chicken for £38 and when I took home it’s not cooked properly. When I put in the mouth I can feel the fresh chicken small. I take it back they said . Chicken good and cannot do anything. Up and down took 25 min to travel. On the way back I bought chicken in kfc it’s very nice 😊

Great place, people are great and happy to help. Order online and for got to finish paying, gone to the place realized I didn't pay. The guy told me not to worry he can place the order and prioritize it so i would be waiting long. 5/5 recommend for everyone who love chicken done with love

The food is good here but the service today was shocking. We’d ordered online for 12.50pm, got there five minutes early and didn’t get the food till past 1.15pm. 25 minutes plus wait for two basic meals isn’t a acceptable.They need to cap the number of orders at peak times and ensure customer order times are met. We will be back but not for a while after the service issues today. 😞

Very nice 3 pieces of chicken abit lacking on the spices on the skin to what it used to be. And no cheese to takeaways. Known John many years who owned it was a bit sad to see he had past. But I know his daughters will carry on his legacy Touching plaque placed on the building. Good look to his daughters and R.I.P John sadly missed my good friend

Excited to try this chicken after hearing locals talk about it and seeing the queues every time I drove by. Chicken was good but not as good as the hype and queues make it out to be (in my opinion). Better than KFC and other chicken/kebab joints but that's not saying much. I think the American in me was looking forward to try fried chicken that reminded me of the States. I've tried better chicken places in gas stations and mom and pop places in the States.

Chicken was really tasty and was massive, honestly wasn't expenting it the fillets to be that big. Gravy was spot on and rivals KFC's as well as the chips. My order only took several minutes to be ready from ordering at the door. Staff were great, especially the guy doing the ordering outside. 10/10 would recommend and will be going back soon hopefully.

Don't understand all the hype. Chips were terrible. Chicken tasted like cleaning product. Gravy and coleslaw was nice. Travelled 30 miles to get this. Won't bother going back. Waste of time

Honestly save your money, we’ve wanted to try here for ages as we’d heard such good things about it previously, £30 for a wrap, burger, wings and two chips… for the chips to be inedible, the wrap was just average absolutely nothing special and squidgy chicken, my partner enjoyed the burger but again, absolutely nothing special, definitely not worth the money in the slightest! AND THE STAFF Jesus I’ve never met a bunch of more miserable sods in my life… horrendous customer service especially when you’re paying so much for food worth not even half of the cost… the only good thing about the entire experience was the young man who took our order outside, he was lovely and very helpful… but that’s it… I’d avoid if I were you, spend your money somewhere that’s acc worth it

Not been for years and had it last week. Chicken tasted nothing like it used to. It tasted like chicken crisps. Couldn’t eat it. The breading is not nice! The coleslaw tasted like the cheap stuff you get from the supermarket. Chips were good though. Don’t know what’s happened but I’ll be leaving it another few years before returning

Chicken connoisseurs walk this way.. for incredible fried chicken this is the spot. Without doubt 100% worth travelling for 10/10

The chicken and chips are unbelievable not to meantion the delicious Coleslaw and Gravy. The value for money is fantastic and the portion sizes are huge! Marstons will forever be my favourite fast food. Can't wait for their festive sandwich!

Spot on the majority of the time. Best in huddersfield by a country mile. I like to spruce mine up with buffalo sauce and blue cheese drizzle at home and it takes them to the next level.

Absolutely delicious, had to wait over 20 minutes for legs today which is very unusual, but it is certainly worth the wait. Succulent chicken, with a wonderful crispy coating. Gravy very flavoursome and peppery. My top number 1 my guilty pleasure.

Absolutely disgusted by the service I received. We were waiting to order and looking at the menu. When it was our turn to be served, we ordered our food, and they couldn't do it, but we tried to charge us for individual items instead. Which means they could do our order, just not the way they advertised it on the menu, and instead, we would have to buy individual items instead of costing us 3 or 4 times more than what we would have paid. We went there with 3 kids and a baby who were stating at the time. We decided to go to KFC instead, and they loved it 😋

Download the app and order on your way because if its a rainy day you will be queueing outside. The food is tremendous, we got the festive sandwich and although a bit pricy the amount of chicken you get is better than anywhere. Our go to when over that way.
