Second time here and I can tell you this service of the staff has went way down hill. We booked a cabin for a weekend of fishing and it took over 30 minutes to get checked in. The "new" staff were extremely confused on how to do a simple job. After getting into our cabin the water was off. The water ended up being off for 24 plus hours. There "fix" was to give us a case of bottled water to flush the toilet and brush our teeth. Ok it is what it is. We tried buying food and drinks at the store but they don't except cash??????? Ok debit card it is I guess. Well that took 20 minutes to ring up 13 dollars in snacks because the ladies behind the counter could figure our how to run a card. My advice is to maybe look elsewhere because this place is NOT customer friendly...

I recently had the pleasure of renting a Guest Cottage at Shelter Cove Resort. The location is spectacular, the layout tailored for many interests and ages. I loved to see the young children at play and adults too. I want to highlight the performance of the employees. I personally interacted with staff in the store, the grill and the maintenance staff as well as for hours watching this very active staff engaged around the camp. Very professional crew. But I’d like to make a special call-out to Melissa, who has a front-line role in the store/reservations. My story may be different from most, but I’m certain that Melissa’s commitment and follow through will be experienced by everyone who has the pleasure of working with her. My story in a nutshell : I called on very short notice as a PCT Section Hiker requesting cabin accommodations on a holiday weekend. After more than 150 miles on this years Section hike, I was ready for a break…and the day sought was by 65th birthday. Even spectacular staff can’t create openings, but Melissa was very understanding, offered alternatives and committed to keep her eye on availability. WOW. Would you believe that She Called Me within a hour as I was hiking down the trail! It would be easy for a busy staff member to ‘just let it go’, the space will be rented, it was a holiday weekend. What a surprise. She took my reservation over the phone while I sat on a log on the trail. What a memory. Melissa was on duty when I checked in and it meant a ton to welcomed by name. The cabin was much more than I could imagine and I had a wonderful stay. I’d highly recommend Shelter Cove Resort. I’ve already recommended them to my family and friends and I look forward to another opportunity (non-PCT) to visit. Thank you Melissa, Job Well Done. Thank you Shelter Cove Resort; it takes a team to make vacations a memory.

Loved this place ❤️ best job iv ever had, till the fire shut down the road and corporate decided to close for the rest of the season 👍 all fine and dandy except the we where all let go at a moments notice, knowing we had 2 more months left, we had no where to go and the best part the company doesn't wanna help pay for anything, all I ask for is for help with a couple days at another open park to regroup and come up with a plan. Thanks for kicking us to the curb, see what kind of company this is 🙄😒 I'd be careful if you plan on taking a job here in the future 🤷‍♂️

Rented a cabin here. My only regret is that it was for one night. Stunning place. The cabins are fantastic and like something from movies. We were blessed with clear skies and wow what a place for star gazing. The cabin had a gas bbq. There was a fire pit out front with a picnic table. There was some wood provided for the fire pit. Beds were comfy. The kitchen had everything you needed regarding pots/pans/plates/cups/bowls/cutlery. Dont expect anything else though, we thought there might have been some pantry staples left behind but nothing. Would return in the morning.

Staff very organized and service oriented. Showers and laundry operated by coins... currently, they will sell múltiples of $10. But in reality, you require less and they don't take cash back. As PCT HIKERs we don't need extra weight LOL Note: Showers are very clean and fully stock with towels and soap. Laundry facilities priced reasonably. Free camping area for PCT HIKERs... yeeeeaaaaaiiiii!!!!

Great sites some are a little tight. Community fire pit and great fishing. Just up the road 15 mins is the Salt Creek Falls.

Took a drive with our granddaughter looking for snow ❄, but just a few leftover piles. All the cabins seem real nice and fairly priced. Will definitely 💯 stay at some time ⏲ in future. Cold 🥶 but beautiful! Definitely recommend.

I was visiting friends and family who work here. The location is very nice(I love all of Oregon so...) There is a train switch track relatively close, I could sleep through the trains in an average RV in a spot close to the tracks. The store and restaurant are clean and well put together. I love the stories from this place also. Be sure to checkout loner the spirit of Odell lake.

Very Highly recommended! We would recommend this place to everyone! Already planning a trip back! Picture taken from the boat! Views were spectacular!

This was the perfect camping experience! Everyone was very nice and welcoming. I loved coming back from a hike and getting ice-cream at the camp store. My only complaint is that we were uncomfortably close to our neighbors. Our picnic tables were about 10 feet away from each other. Not all the spaces are like this.

We had a winter stay at Shelter Cove! Absolutely beautiful place. The staff are all so very friendly and accommodating. We stayed in Cabin H and it was such a beautifully rustic cabin. We really hope to come back!

You want an amazingly serene, rustic cabin under some Douglas firs covered in snow? Yeah me too. That's why I go here every year. David (General Manager) is an exceptional person as well and ensures the guests have a wonderful stay.

Visited for a ski get-away in the old Odell Lake Historic Cabin that we'd always wanted to try out (mostly because of the wood stove). The staff were great; very attentive and personable. We interacted most directly with Sarah and Joshua (both super!) but Patty and Kersten were also great. The 100-yr old cabin was everything one would expect in an old log building except it was much cozier (zero drafts and warm floor for stocking feet) than I expected. Bummer was that the firewood was mostly unseasoned (not dry) but it burned OK but only when stove draft was fully open so couldn't conserve wood. (Note: they happily replenished firewood at every request). Also, the snowmobile they use to groom the X-country trails has apparently been broken down for a while with no plans for immediate repair.. That was unfortunate because we had to break trail (during massive, beautiful, powder dump) during our entire stay. Memo to Highway West: pay to fix your snowmobile because lots of your guests expect your trails to be ready to ski without breaking trail in snow above their knees! We loved our visit and any downsides noted above were more than compensated by the fantastic staff. It must be hard to retain folks working in such a remote location, Highway West, do what you can do to keep Sarah, Joshua, Patty and Kersten!!!

I’ll start the review by saying this, O’dell lake is beautiful, and the scenery around the lake is amazing. Good hiking trails, good fishing (if you know what you’re doing), nice lodge. Would LOVE to give this resort 5 stars, but I simply can’t and this is why…. 1) This resort is all about making money -$2.50 for a 3min shower - Pricing is absurd for the RV sites. $75 dollars a night (gets more expensive the later into summer you go) -Only utility you get is 30/50amp power. (No water/sewer) -They’ll tell you “water is within 100’ of each site” but you’ll have 4-6 RV sites on one faucet with a splitter. (we filled our fresh tank and ran off our pump for the weekend) -They have an RV dump, but you have to back your RV to get to it (seems simple enough, but looking at the location, it’s awkward) -They’ll charge you extra if you have more than 2 people in the campsite ($5 per person, per day, over the age of 6….so yes, they’ll charge you for a 6yr old) - If you’re unable to check out on time, you’ll be charged $10 an hr until 12:30pm in which they’ll charge you for a whole day at that point. (Unless prior arrangements had been made) 2) the staff is not on the same page. We were told by the front desk that we were NOT allowed to launch OUR own boat into the lake, and they had to do it. Then we were informed by the gentleman that backed our boat(after having to go through the inconvenience of unhooking/re-hooking up a boat trailer from one truck to another) that we could’ve launched our own boat that whole time. 3) the porter potties on location were unsanitary, and dirty. 4) RV sites were tore up from the backhoe clearing out the snow earlier in the year(unlevel ground, seems they didn’t even attempt to back blade and smooth the gravel back out) 5) if you have a unit over 35’ just be forewarned, it’s very tight navigating through the camp sites. I’ve stayed at RV parks for half the amount of money, and had full hookups, paved road, and paved sites. For the amount of money they charge, you would figure they’d invest in the campground and at the least, plumb each site with it’s own water. Lastly, we got lucky we stayed and left when we did, because the mosquitoes were just starting to hatch. And the way they’ll swarm you, they could carry away a small child.

It's spring at Lake Odell and Shelter Cove Resort is a great place to spend some time. My family stayed in a 2-story lodge divided into four units. Ours was spacious, large full kitchen, living room, dining area and three bedrooms. The master bedroom has its own bathroom, and there's a second bathroom off the kitchen. The second bedroom is roomy with a king/queen size bed. The third bedroom has three bedrooms to sleep up to six. Rustic and beautiful place to spend time on the lake. The resort has RV and camping too, as well as a dozen or so cabins of various sizes on the lake under the fir trees. Docks all along the shore for those who bring their own small motorboat for fishing. The resort location deserves a special mention, as it's on what is definitely the best and most beautiful part of the lake. Definitely highly recommend. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only thing else that needs a mention is that they are building a new lodge soon, with the foundation already poured last year. Good news if you like the lodges as much as we do, not so good news if the construction is going on while you are next door in the existing lodge. The rest of the resort, cabins, RV, and camping is pretty well away from this so you shouldn't be bothered at all.

We were passing through and needed a space to camp for the night. What a great experience at Shelter Cove on Odell Lake! Had a pleasant dinner and breakfast on the deck of the Hook & Talon eatery. Beautiful views of the lake. Enjoyed visiting with other guests and staff in the evening at the communal campfire. Majority of the other campers were fishers and we found the place to be quiet and well behaved. Union Pacific train tracks are in the vicinity and we did here some passing trains, but it was far enough away that we were not bothered by it. ALL members of the staff were friendly, personable and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay pleasant. A very tidy, well run little resort. We will be back. Reservations are recommended.

It’s good for PCT hikers, during summer it opens between 08 AM to 05 PM. They have showers and a small general store. Staff could be welcoming depending on a day and their mood. The place is always crowded, lot of RVers if you’re doing PCT side hike via Whitefish creek / horse camp, then cross the Union Pacific railroad and turn right there you will see wilderness trailhead sign “Trapper Creek Trail #3842.1” and in about 1/8th mile you will see Whitefish creek trail junction.

Staff not very helpful. $2.50 for a 3 minute shower. Laundry "closet" one dryer out of two not working. Had to clean up our campsite after previous people. They said they were extremely short staffed so that's why campsites we're dirty.... disappointing for $81 a night.
