One of the best aquarium in Japan, different kinds of marine life from all over the world. Charming view, you can see the divers feeding sharks face to face inside the water. The building is large, you will start the tour from up to down, loop style, cinema mood, while watching different levels of the aquarium. I like this place, However, for kids the tour is very long 777 meters, of course there are multiple rest rooms on the way down, but if you want to get out of the dark, it is very long way given the fact that eating and drinking is not permitted inside. Anyway I give this place 5 stars as an aquarium.

Absolutely loved this aquarium. I found it incredibly well done with great exhibits and variety. The Great Barrier Reef section was closed for upgrading works when we were there but it was still an overall fantastic experience. The 2 whale sharks were definitely the highlight. Such beautiful, magnificent creatures. Pro tip: buy your entrance tickets online and get the table of feeding times on the website before you come here and plan your visit accordingly. They don’t display all the feeding times in one place anywhere; rather, the feeding time is displayed on each individual exhibit, so it makes it quite challenging to see overall feeding times in one place to plan your route. You can easily spend half a day here.

One of the best aquariums in the world! I imagine it is busy non stop with field trips and tourists, and for good reason. It has whale sharks! The design of the aquarium alone is a monument to be seen. Get your tickets in advance and expect crowds. The flow and structure of the aquarium still makes the experience very memorable. Also get you one of those long whale shark wieners and some blue ice cream. It was delectable!

(Translated by Google) Congratulations on the 30th anniversary of the opening. It's hard because of the corona, but the staff They are working hard together, so I would like to enjoy the infection countermeasures on the customer side as well. The seal cushion is cute with a nice expression. It has become a favorite of dogs at home. The giraffe made with LEGO is big. Did you match the taiga drama? Great aquarium. Not too crowded, and even with some people in, the "flow" inside the building makes the visit really smooth and you can enjoy every scenes as you wish. The tour takes some time but there is at least two rooms where you can sit and relax for a bit. The tour is made following a logical way and that's easy to remember and well narrated. You can see some interesting creatures! The lights effects on the jellyfish exhibition were really cool!

One of the best places in Osaka. Educational and fun. Facility is clean and well maintained like Japanese standard. Japan is amazing, they can make everything so well even for animals. We don’t understand Japanese and we still can have a good experience here with different sea animals. Love this place. For kids, for adults and for anyone who has a loving heart towards animals. This place is awesome.

An amazing aquarium, I spent 4 hrs there and hardly noticed the time passing by. The exhibition is very well presented in a logical theme starting from top and walking down. The total distance to walk is actually close to 1000m to see all. In the middle there is a cafeteria to sit down and there are also plenty of seating along the way to sit down and take in the views. The price is not high so the ticket is good value for money.

🐟🐠🐡💧🦆🦀🦞🦐🦭🐙🦦🐬🦑🐳 By far, the best aquarium that I have ever visited in the world and a highlight of Osaka. When you enter and walk around the large tank, it's a continuous swirl down as you watch the shark and other sea animals thrive. The gift shop is also nice. It also helps that there are many food options nearby as well.

Great aquarium experience! All the animals were very lively and entertaining to look at. It was interesting to see each one in their own habitats and learning about their behaviours. We stayed a good 2h there. Me and my family went on a weekday around 12:30 and the wait was not very long, 5min at most to buy the tickets. Just to be sure, i recommend that you buy your tickets in advance.

Best aquarium we have ever been. The layout allows you to see the sea animals in close proximity all the time, it feels like you are immersed in the ocean. Quiet crowed since it is a popular spot, but it doesn't feel like you could not observe the creatures. All the contents have English translations, which is a great plus for us (we don't understand Japanese). They have so many awesome and unique sea animals with detailed info, very informative. Both my two kids and I had a lot of fun. Try their ramune soft-served ice cream too it's yummy!

This review ignores the question of whether or not animals should be held in captivity. I’m just commenting on the attraction itself, which was well put together. The layout is really clever and gives you some great views of the sea life. There is basically one main tank in the middle and you start at the top and the path gradually circles around this tank going down with different view points along the way. On the outside there are also other tanks with other animals in. At the end there is also an area where you can touch rays and small sharks, not my thing but if you had kids with you something I can imagine they would like.

(Translated by Google) It's been 30 years since the museum opened. Our couple have been married for 30 years. I think we could have done some event. At that time, I remember being in a great line. It's a difficult situation right now, but please do your best to all the staff. Speaking of which, there was an urban legend that said that if you go with a couple, you'll break up after a while. The parking lot is now wider and easier to use than before. My first visit to an aquarium and I was impressed immensely. They designed the place in such a way that you won’t miss a thing. If you are a fan of underwater creatures this place is definitely for you. Don’t forget to buy something cool from their souvenir shop on your way out.

Affordable attraction at ¥2400/person ($23.53/pax). The aquarium can be completed in about 4 hours. Some of my favourite highlights were the capybara, arctic ringed seal, and jellyfishes! You can also purchase a stamp book with a strap at ¥310 ($3.04) to chop at various stations and keep it as a souvenir. It's a great activity for kids. Do check out the souvenirs stores. They have a variety of cute items available.

Excellent aquarium. My son loves sea animals so we've been to a lot of them, including the Monterey Bay aquarium in California. This aquarium showed many aquatic animals organized by the region they are found. You follow a route once inside and it takes you past all of the animals without missing any. You don't have to worry about missing something because you didn't look for it. There are a few places off the route but they are supplementary and don't have animals in them, just additional information about special ones like the otters. They had lively dolphins that played with a basketball in front of us, we saw them feed ducks and the central tank features at least 2 whale sharks among many other regionally appropriate aquatic life. It was amazing. There's a small cafe about 3/4 of the way along the route that's in a perfect spot to grab a drink or snack and look out over the Osaka bay. Excellent view at or near sunset. We loved it and would definitely recommend it to others and would return if we are ever here again. Pro tip: if you have a child, buy the stamp book at the shop near the entrance. My son loved collecting the stamps along the way and made the experience more interactive for him. Most people grab the information booklet and stamp that but the actual stamp book is cheap and much better. It has a lanyard so your child can wear it and shows what animal they should look for next.

I not a child, but I loved this Aquarium like a child would! My hubby was going nuts because he said “I made him spend almost three hours there. Heck time goes fast when you’re having fun. We went pretty close to opening time, and already scores of coaches were there and school children on excursions. We had to wait 85 mins before our timed entry. We waited around the market place. Dreading that we had eaten food prior to coming! Come on am empty stomach, as they had great offerings of food to have ! From savoury to sweet or drinks! I loved the Pacific Ocean tank, it went on throughout the aquarium. All the fish were the stars! Everyone really impressed with the whale sharks, sharks and the like. The dolphins were cute, so we’re the Penguins! The otters were fast asleep. The Great Barrier Reef exhibition was closed and won’t open till September 2024. It’s quite a peaceful place even with the crowds. Have patience, and you’ll get close to the action.

I’ve visited this aquarium every time I’ve been in Osaka and everytime has been an enjoyable experience for me. My two children thoroughly enjoyed walking through the entire tank and we could easily spend hours and hours here just staring at the different sea creatures there. While the ‘great barrier reef’ exhibit was closed, we still enjoyed all the other areas of the aquarium. I have read other people’s opinions that it’s too cramped of a tank for the whale shark but for what it is, I don’t think the conditions are so bad for the creatures who live there. Seals and dolphins were very active and looked as if they were enjoying themselves for sure! There are also stamps for different sections of the aquarium so be sure to bring along a stamp book or something to stamp on as a great free souvenir! We didn’t have to queue up for any tickets during the weekday but we purchased tickets online through their website just in case and they are available to be purchased on the day, so no need to purchase in advanced.

(Translated by Google) I visited for the first time since I came to Tokyo from Kyoto! The first person to welcome me was Mr. Kawauso w There was also a cute 😆 giant salamander! After that, as you go inside, it becomes an aquarium and you can see the water as you continue walking to the bottom. Whale sharks, rays, and giant rays are also powerful. There was also a sunfish w Seals, dolphins, sea lions, and penguins were also cute w An older sister in charge explained it on the way. it was fun! On the way back, I got on the world's largest Ferris wheel 🤗 800 yen! There is only a Ferris wheel that is bigger than the apartment, and the night view is very beautiful and satisfying! I'm going back to Tokyo today 😿 (Original)

Highly recommend this place for toddlers and family. One of the best we have visited. Large variety of animals and fish. Brilliantly design display of each tanks. Straight forward layout, start at the top and work your ways down each floor. Very convenient with the mall and restaurants just opposite. Tip, for children with strollers, you could approach the staff members and they would lead you to the lift which is not public.

Must see attraction in Osaka. A little far out by train but well worth the visit. Good photo opportunities and LEGO land is next door with a nice food court. Good opportunity to see the variety of rare fish and sea creatures. Can even see penguins and touch the sharks and sting rays! The centre tank is amazing and a must see with the huge sharks and rays. Be careful of missing things, you aren’t allowed to go back to see things you might have missed so take your time. Nice gift shop at the end to get some trinkets. Also has the stamp sites to complete the tour books!

(Translated by Google) I went to see a whale shark. Go down around one huge aquarium from the top for many laps and enjoy watching the fish. The main part here is two whale sharks, and you can enjoy the pattern of the dorsal fin from the top and the big mouth from the bottom. Since the upper part is more crowded, there are many chairs for those who came down early at first, so it is recommended for children to sit there and look at it. At the end, you can enjoy interacting in the aquarium. There is no show, so it's an impression for adults. This is a very interesting aquarium. The first escalator take you to the very top floor and you slowly wind down to the bottom. The main exhibit is a huge tank in the very center of the building which contains whale sharks, hammer head sharks and many more. There is a lot of information in English too. Worth a visit!

One of the few aquariums in the world where you can see the majestic whale shark up close. Buying tickets at the front door can mean waiting up to 2 hours to get in, highly recommended to buy them online in advance. It was pretty crowded on a weekday but that was due to students having their field trips. Lots of cool animals to see and can easily take 2 plus hours to fully appreciate all the exhibits.

Quite underwhelming. Most of the aquarium is made up of just one large central aquarium. There are some large beautiful fish like whale sharks but for being one of the best aquariums in Japan I was expecting a lot more individual aquariums. Online it says you will spend roughly 3 hours here, but it can easily be done within an hour. Also we had to go at a certain 15 minute time interval and the aquarium was packed, each window had a bunch of people at them and we had to wait 5 minutes every time if we wanted to properly view the fish.

A great exhibition of many different sea creatures. What makes it so unique are the whale sharks. It was very crowded to the level my 4 years' old daughter didn't want to stay there much. And like most of the famous experiences in Japan you need to book it in advance.

We went here on a whim. It was near Universal Studios and we were looking for a place to have dinner. But this place didn't disappoint. It was well built and organized. The music inside the aquarium was so soothing. All the fishes were dancing in sync! It was so lovely to see and witness. It will make you want to stay, sit down in front of the aquarium, and just stare at the wonders of the sea waltzing to classical music! All the fishes were healthy, well fed and the aquariums were clean! All expected from the Japanese culture. We would love to come here again!

This is an amazing aquarium with a huge range of animals and lots of interesting information. The highlight has to be the impressive whale sharks and the walkway around their huge tank. I would definitely recommend it, especially for a family day out. My only negative comment is how busy it was, as I had about an hour wait until my entrance time slot, and you had to wait if you wanted a view of the tanks. But I did go on a weekend so, if you can, you should go on a weekday.

Besides the local food of Osaka, the Osaka Aquarium is Osaka’s greatest attraction. It’s a great place to bring children to learn about aquatic life. There are detailed descriptions in English about each of the displays. I especially appreciate the design of the main tank holding whale sharks, manta rays, and vast array of other species. The entire design seems to focus about this beautiful main tank. The penguin and seal displays are also a must see, especially the seals who vacillate between adorable and ominous effortlessly. There is also special attention to smaller exhibits. I loved the exhibit about fish with strange faces. There is also a nice cafe inside the museum serving delicious soft serve ice cream with Ramune flavor. The exterior of the aquarium is also quite photogenic. If this is your first time in Osaka, make this your number one touring location.

(Translated by Google) A huge aquarium with excellent access in Osaka, close to downtown Osaka and close to USJ! An aquarium that is completely one-way and you can take a closer look without getting lost or overlooking it. There are many highlights, an environmental exhibition that displays creatures more realistically, and a huge aquarium with the image of the Pacific Ocean where whale sharks swim! You can see the huge aquarium from various angles such as above and below! There is no show, but you can see a little performance when feeding dolphins and sea lions. Personally, I was amazed at the mixed exhibition of capybara and piranha! Highly recommended aquarium! [Recommended way to enjoy] Anyway, take your time and watch it slowly! It's crowded on holidays, but it's a one-way street, so if you have a tank you want to see, wait until people flow. (Translated by Google) The aquarium is large and has the power of being in the sea. It is recommended for those who want to take a closer look at the sea creatures rather than events such as shows. I think it is an ideal form for an aquarium. However, the location is not very good, and I feel that it is a little far from the station because I walk for about 10 to 15 minutes. There is a restaurant, but there are many old facilities, so it seems that some people may not fit. (Translated by Google) I went on a business trip to Osaka. A format in which you look around the large central aquarium with whale sharks from the upper floors to the bottom. There are various aquariums on the way down, and there are plenty of dolphins, capybaras, and seals. In the aquarium exhibition hall of the jellyfish, the room was darkened, and I was healed by the jellyfish swimming slowly in a fantastic atmosphere. I had a whale shark soft serve at a cafe on the way from the exit to the outside. The cold ice cream was delicious, partly because it was a warm spring day. I also bought whale shark melon bread. I will eat it after I get home. My hands stretched out with cute bread (laughs) (Original)

We were in Osaka on holiday and this was a great experience for the family. The tickets are a little expensive but they take both card and yen. There was a lot to see and most signs were in English and Japanese. The gift shop was very nice as well. Our favorite part was the Antarctica exhibit. Recommend a visit to anyone in the area.

Excellent place to pass half a day. It's quite an educational setup with audio guide. The natural environment setup for different sea regions and that huge central aquarium was very impactful. Must see for families with kids.

I loved this aquarium, it was full of variety and had some fun shows. The stuffed animals they sell here are also a plus, beyond cute. The whale sharks are really amazing to look at as well! IT is their mascot after all... The place is fairly large, not huge, but big for an aquarium in Japan. There is a lot to explore, so be prepared to spend a whole day here if you enjoy taking your time and enjoying the place. There is nice places to eat, though I didn't try anything, but the shows are fun to sit and enjoy, good entertainment for guest.

Went here during non-peak season where there were quite a number of people, but not that packed that we could still stay longer in each exhibit. This is a well-designed aquarium that I really enjoyed staying in every exhibit to observe the creatures. Groups that came here were mostly couples, or families with kids; the kids surely loved and were really excited to see the animals. Overall it was an enjoyable experience. Tip: Google Lens works great to find out more about each of the animals here.

The Aquarium was great and I think anyone that has an interest for animals would enjoy it! The selection of animals from across the world is amazing, and it seems like they treat them good too which is reassuring. The main aquarium featured 2 whale sharks that were huge along with so many other amazing fish!

The aquarium spans eight floors, and I'm pretty sure the Pacific Ocean covers at least four of them. It's definitely the highlight of the entire aquarium, with whale sharks, guitar sharks and hammerhead sharks swimming around. If you're still uncomfortable with the idea of having marine life enclosed in indoor spaces, then just give this place a past since the price is actually pretty expensive (2400 yen per person). On a side note, if you're planning to come here, either come later in the evening or come during the weekdays. The place is packed full of people which makes it pretty hard to get up close to the tank to see the fishes.

One of the best aquarium I have visited. They have displayed varieties of marine animals and fish. I am amazed by their largest tank which has two whales sharks. However, it is recommended to plan ahead if you want to visit Kaiyukan as there will be lots of visitors. Also, reserve at least 2-3 hours for the visit as it is a place you will easily forgot about time.

Absolutely awesome experience. With 2700 Yen, the admission comes not in cheap, but it's worth it! There is so much to explore and there are so many cute details (like the way they designed the Kanjis). It's translated in English everywhere, which is also great! There are different regions to explore, each one representing another part of the ocean. The best part in my opinion is the South Pole region with cute penguins! I absolutely enjoyed this visit and if you've time in Osaka to kill, definitely go there!

The BEST aquarium I’ve ever been to! Amazing views of a variety of sea life. You can spend hours here! Great for kids and adults. Purchase tickets in advance to avoid having to wait on two separate lines (one to get the tickets, and one to get in). However, the lines moved quickly. Highly recommend.

A very cool aquarium providing and amazing observation of marine animals and some seals, otters, penguins, and lemurs. We arrived around 10 am (booked tickets a day in advance), and it was crowded. The exhibits and aquariums were very interesting, with some offering multiple observation points from different levels (so don't hang up on the first window you see with everyone else, keep moving and you might find a good spot). The main part is the shark tank, which is huge with two whale sharks, quite incredible. Also, at the exit, there is an open area with some peguins, which is pretty cool. So overall, if you find yourself caught by a rainy day in Osaka, it's definitely worth checking out.

The Aquarium Kaiyukan is a great attraction for aquatic lovers. Inside the museum there is a desk that explains information about various marine animals. Including a variety of beautiful and exciting aquatic animals such as skirt fish, jointed fish, sharks and whales, etc. In addition, the museum has programs such as film programs. Aquatic show program and various exhibition programs for visitors to fully learn more about aquatic animals For traveling to the Aquarium Kaiyukan You can travel by renting a car or using public transportation. There is also a transport van with a sign to the museum. In which those who visit this place will experience the beauty and beauty of aquatic animals perfectly. and will definitely not be disappointed in traveling here

Worth going, but remember to buy the tickets online so that you do not need to queue to buy tickets on site. It can be super crowded. I went on weekday and at 10.30am opening time there was already a long snaking queue to buy tickets. My husband went to queue to buy tickets while I quickly went online to purchase and immediately I received the tickets via email and browser and was able to join the queue for those with tickets. Entered the premises very quickly after that. There are cute stamps inside so do remember to bring a book to "collect" them!

Super nice. I would strongly suggest buying the tickets before hand. Also buy the whaleshark feeding. It was totally worth it. Spend half the day there. Lots of fish to see. Hopefully you have loaded kids up with food as you can't eat in there. Else there is a cafe midway. Parents, a few tips for you. No prams can go in. Deposit your stuff at the entrance. Bring your stamping books for kids to stamp collective ink stamps for memories! But stuff only at the end as it's hard to carry.

Although the admission fee may be a bit steep, visiting this aquarium is an absolute must. Among the limited options of high-quality aquariums, this one stands out as the best I've ever experienced. The aquarium's theme is simply enchanting, and the layout is truly marvelous. Notably, their jellyfish collection left me in awe; words cannot do it justice! The Pacific Ocean theme and the diverse array of fish on display were equally impressive, making the whole experience mind-blowing. I was particularly impressed with the aquarium's top-notch maintenance; everything was in pristine condition. While browsing the toy shop inside, I found an amazing selection, albeit on the pricey side. Nevertheless, the overall experience made it worth every penny. If you're a fan of aquatic wonders, this aquarium is a definite must-visit!

Really fun experience, there is a designed route you can follow to see all of the aquarium. They have dolphins, a lot of fish, sharks, seals and lots of Jellyfish. The gift shops are also quite big and have lots of cute things! They have a seasonal exhibition and when buying entry tickets it is also possible to buy tickets to watch feeding time of the animals backstage. You are not allowed to eat or drink inside the aquarium. There are a lot of places where you can sit down and watch the fish or animals and it is very cool inside.

An amazing aquarium with a big variety of creatures. It has a lot to offer and you get to see the same animals on different floors (and depth) as well. It was pretty busy but the line for entering the aquarium was managed well and after 5 minutes of waiting we were inside. Recommended also for adults! The whole exhibit took about 2 hours.

Loved this aquarium, the enclosures are huge with different viewing options at various depths. The animals appear to be well cared for (except for the second penguin exhibit which was open and the penguins appeared to be missing their feathers - not sure whether this is normal but it didn't look like regular moulting, they had bald patches). We saw an otter catch and eat a fish. There are many types of fish, seals and dolphins that I haven't seen before. We went around 6pm, so it wasn't as busy and there were only a few rooms that were really crowded.

Fish, fish and other fish! With special appearances by other animals! The exhibits here are fun and full of our aquatic friends! Great experience for all ages. I was lucky enough to see the feeding of the otters and the dolphins. The otters are cute and energetic but the dolphin show is outstanding. They are well trained and very happy to perform for the trainers and the crowd. Speaking of the crowd, there will likely be one here. I suggest you book a time ticket online to avoid the lines of waiting in the hot sun or standing longer times in queue. Great experience for kids as well allowing them to collect stamps throughout the whole aquarium at little stands specifically for them. The aquarium offers multiple rest areas and seating to let anyone go through at their own pace and sit for optimum enjoyment as you spiral down through the building. My only concern is that the scramble to get close to the glass can create a bit of an in unpleasant and elbow bumping experience early on. I recommend moving forward to get to the more open areas for viewing pleasure as most of the exhibits are tall and you can view lower down as well. Overall a great experience especially if you love fish and don't mind a crowd.

One of the best aquariums that I have visited. - I highly recommend that you book the tickets in advance as we had to wait for 40 minutes to enter. Great aquarium with plenty to see. The big tanks have plenty of viewing points so you never miss out but instead get to see from surface to the bottom. This was great when seeing the dolphins dive for example. The place has great signage to guide you through showing you "the route". Plenty of seats for people to sit and enjoy the tanks whilst having a little break. Top tip is to book in advance. We were let in 10 minutes before our time slot too! We went on a Sunday and still had space to move around. We took our 3 year old who thoroughly enjoyed the experience. We spent 3 hours there and took our time going round. Plenty of toilets - top advice is to use those on the route rather than at the beginning/exit which was crowded with long queues. Shout out to the stamp collecting experience. You have to buy the note book at ¥400 and there are stamps to collect throughout the aquarium. I missed purchasing the note book but the staff were super friendly and helpful - they radioed someone to bring me one. Luckily I only missed the first so was able to collect that at the end. You can use your own notebook to collect the stamps so do not feel the pressure to purchase theirs if you do not want to. Stamp stations are located throughout the route.

So big! Super fun. You start at the top and keep going down. Some of the best viewing is at the bottom. The gift shop wasn’t as good as the small but lovely Kyoto aquarium but the types of animals and fish is large. Family friendly. I didn’t feel like I needed all the upcharges at admission. A lot of ways to keep spending. Really well done!

It was such an experience! The place is enormous and you can basically spend the whole afternoon looking at various marine life. If you get a chance to see the staff interact with dolphins, it’s a great watch! There are resting benches here and there which was very handy. There’s also an area for kids so will be a great place to visit as a family. Unfortunately, it does get crowded and it pays to get there a bit early to skip waiting in line. You can purchase the tickets online. This will save you heaps of time. The cafe was amusing - we loved the theme and hotdog is a must-try. Ice cream was great also. There is a wall designed for photo shoots. My wife’s favorite part was looking at small fishes - the whole area is very well designed and each dome are presented very uniquely. My favorite was the jellyfish domes. But you cannot ignore the main attraction which is the whale shark. You won’t know how much time has passed gazing into the dome. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience and would totally recommend to anyone from family to dating couples, and even for individuals who are genuinely interested in marine life!!

Prices can change so bear that in mind. I paid about 3200 Yen to enter on a Monday. It was really clean and the tanks well maintained. There is really one main cylindrical tank which has a variety of fish and the whale sharks etc. you follow the tank by walking around it and going down an inclined ramp. As you walk around the main tank there are also tanks on the outside wall with other fish and wildlife (Seals/Dolphins etc) and you can easily spend a 1.5-2 hours there. There are also a more rooms and exhibits but a lot were under maintenance when I was there. If you take kids then they have stamps at a bunch of different exhibits that you can stamp in a book for a souvenir. There is a gift shop and a cafe with reasonable prices.

One of the bigger and better aquariums in Japan. When you go there are plenty of school kids around but they are well behaved and stick to their groups. Osaka aquarium is a huge aquarium with many sea creatures, I had an enjoyable time there amidst the crowd during a November weekday. In terms of crowds, I had to wait a little to see exhibits but nothing overbearing. Their centerpiece is a large 3 stories aquarium filled with sharks, mantas, stingrays and not to forget fishes. You'll get to see the magnificence of these large creatures in front of you. Other interactive activities includes the chance to touch the sea creatures in a shallow pond.

Wonderful collection of creatures that are surprisingly active. Feeding is worth watching but there is no talk given. Aquarium design is linear so you cannot miss anything, you can loop back to the top (start) if need be. Spiral nature with centeal tanks means you are always looking at something. Only complaint would be lack of seating and water for humans.

Huge tank in the middle with shark is the main attraction along with other marine life. Also we liked in the end before coming out can touch fishes in the water. It’s great experience to touch few variety of dishes. The whole aquarium is very well designed as you go up all the way in the beginning and eventually come down slowly by watching fishes of all kind.

Nice aquarium with lots of great views of different marine animals. We went right after opening and all the animals were quite active much to the delight of my small children. The main tank with whale sharks was a hit as there are several viewing levels and many other species in the tank for kids to view. Interesting to note a water shuttle between USJ which lands right next to the aquarium and Legoland is also next. Could easily spend an entire day or more here.

The aquarium is top notch! The center tank is very impressive and the exhibits are extensive. The tanks range between several floors to exhibit the animals swim ranges. Ideal for dates and family outings. A must visit in Osaka.

It may be a little hard to see, but the octopus has started to move. The sea lions were cute. Horse mackerel were swarming and swimming. it looks tasty. The squid was also swimming. It would be delicious if made into sashimi! The big long-legged crab was strange. Hairtail was also swimming. The name of the hairtail comes from the shape of the sword, I think it also means standing fish. Some were standing and swimming, while others were swimming sideways. Sea turtles were also swimming. Urashima Taro was absent today. The largest whale shark in the Kaiyukan. The jellyfish were also swimming. It hurts when stabbed in the sea, but it is mysterious when viewed underwater. It is a rare shrimp and is a white shrimp. (Bicolor Dotty Bag) The head side is pink and the caudal side is orange. There were also colorful tropical fish. Finally, it is the dragon's father. The hall was a one-way street and took an hour to look around. Finally, there is a corner where you can actually touch small sharks and rays. I could touch it. The shark had shark skin and was rough. Ray was very slimy. The deepest part of the aquarium is a plastic glass with a thickness of 30 cm. It seems that you are using it. I went to this place on the weekend and I appreciate the staff's compassion towards health protocol without making us unsatisfied. The featured animals are amazing, especially the whale shark. Even the tiny cleope makes me wonder of how deepest sea still holds mysterious things. Unfortunately, the water in the big tank is a little bit dirty and unclear. I also enjoy my photo and stamp hunting inside this kaiyukan. So, 2400 yen is really worth it.

Its a decently sizes aquarium with an interesting downward spiral layout. It was quite crowded when we went, I was surprised they hadn't limited tickets due to Corona. There were plenty of English translations to read and such. Reccomend only if you're in the area, not worth a trip if its the main thing you're coming for.

Came here this summer and I really enjoyed my time inside. Basically there is a big tank in the middle and we’ll go around this tank while looking also to other kinds of species there. Since you can’t reenter after going out, I saw some visitors going back to the entrance to still spend some time inside. Don’t miss the souvenir shop, they have various cute stuff as souvenirs. Enjoy the sunset at Osaka Port which is at the back of the aquarium while enjoying your coffee from Starbucks. At night, there’s nice illumination outside near the entrance. This aquarium is also next to the mall and Legoland.

It is said that Osaka Aquarium is the biggest in Japan , well it was wonderful seeing the stingrays , sharks and especially the jellyfish. A lot of species to see with detailed descriptions or audio guides. Celebrating the 30th anniversary. This beautiful building has elevators for wheelchair access and ramps, restrooms are available almost in every floor. This experience is recommended for couples , children can become easily bored.

We had limited time in Osaka but this choice was totally worth tge time. Few meters walk from the nearest station. Tickets can be bought either at the entrance or online. Luckily it wasn't so crowded as it was a weekday. Follow the marked route. It qas both educational and fun. The forest inside the aquarium gives a warm feeling. The largest tank with wheal sharks was magnificent. All the fisheries goes in round🐟🦈🦈. The jelly fish exhibition would take you to a different world. Totally worth the money spent.

It has been more than 30 years since the world's largest aquarium was founded at the Osaka bay area, but it is still very popular with families. It is barrier-free and can be widely used from baby carriages to wheelchairs. However, you have to be prepared to walk about 7 to 8 minutes from Osaka Port Subway Station in the Sunlight. It is a good resort for summer vacation under air-conditioned atmosphere that you can enjoy for half a day. 2,400 yen for adult.

Surprisingly it is very good Aquarium with lots of species to see. Good place to go with the kids. There is also a Ferris wheel nearby. Great location just in the heart of Osaka! If you are staying near Fushimi in Hilton for example or Sakae, it is a walking distance, about 40min to walk.

  • 5/5 Ting T. 1 year ago on Google
One of the largest public aquariums in the world is not to be missed during your visit to Japan. Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan is definitely one of the best and most impressive aquariums I have ever seen! The aquarium is huge with over 15 large tanks and has 8 floors to explore. Visitors will begin the tour from the highest floor (8th floor) and there is a great variety of aquatic animals including whale sharks, penguins, dolphins, jellyfish, huge turtles, stingrays, king crabs and many more amazing sea creatures. Visitors could easily spend at least two to three hours at Osaka Aquarium and it is a great attraction for families with children.

  • 3/5 M Saiham H. 1 year ago on Google
Not the best aquarium. I have been to many aquariums in Japan, and unfortunately, this aqueous was NOT the best. To begin with, I felt the entire aquarium was NOT very diverse. It had more or less similar animals and fishes. Furthermore, the entire aquarium has the same tank, meaning as you walk from one floor of the aquarium to another, you see the same tank of fish, just from a different angle. Don't get me wrong, there are other tanks, but the entire aquarium is built on one big tank. Last, there were NO special shows or unique attractions. Everything was the regular “seeing behind a glass” experience, unlike other aquariums in Japan. To sum up, Did I enjoy it? Yes. Will I go there again? No. Was ir worth the money? Absolutely no! If you are an aquarium enthusiast or really love marine creatures, you may pay a visit. Or else there are better things to do in Osaka. Good luck!

  • 4/5 Dao 1 year ago on Google
One of the best aquariums I’ve ever been to with very friendly staff. It is a hot tourist spot for both foreigners and locals so even if you decide to come on a weekday I would still expect it to be crowded (with a lot of children!) which is really why I’m giving it 4/5 but the crowd is to be expected. Very good experience for the price. If you book tickets online, entry is a breeze.

  • 5/5 Phillip T. 1 year ago on Google
One of the rare ultra touristy thing to do that is actually worthwhile. If you slow down and spend some time just sitting in front of some of the bigger tanks, it is a very relaxing experience. A welcome change from the sightseeing hustle and bustle of Osaka.

  • 4/5 Jay J. 10 months ago on Google
Not a bad Aquarium but compared to a few others in Japan It's 4 stars The design of the Aquarium and display could be a lot better. The Aquarium in Okinawa and Kyoto are at a higher level but this is a good place to visit. The Penguin and Dolphin displays are the best attractions. The main tank is decent but not as big as most Aquariums. It's worth the trip but I wouldn't say it's one of the best in Japan. (My opinion)

  • 5/5 Alice 9 months ago on Google
It is an awesome aquarium. You walk round in a clockwise direction going deeper into the aquarium, so you get to see the animals on surface and swimming in the deep waters. The highlight is obviously their whale sharks. At the end of the walk, there are jellyfish tanks and a section where you are able to touch the sea creatures. They have hand wash to wash your hands after touching the sea creatures. You could easily spend hours in there. It is great for all ages.

  • 5/5 Willy W. 10 months ago on Google
Amazing place. I'm glad I didn't skip this because it ranked lower than Singapore's aquarium. The design is very different. Speaks volumes of the Japanese willingness to do their best at everything. A huge 7-8 storey high aquarium that has tank enclosures at least 5-7 floors high, keep dolphins, seals, penguins happy and not bored. The main enclosure with the whale sharks was a bit dull and a little sad but such is the problem with such nature reserve parks. But for now, best aquarium I have visited so far. Was a delight to see the dolphins and seals swim playfully and apparently, rather freely. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

  • 5/5 Esmé 10 months ago on Google
This was a wonderful aquarium to go to! The whale shark tank was amazing! I think we watched the whale sharks and the rays swimming around for nearly half an hour. The seals were also a big hit with us. They were so cute! Being from the US it was awesome to see the Monterrey Bay area! There is also an incredibly cute cafe that has whale shark themed food and drink items. I'd highly recommend this aquarium if you're in Osaka!

Wow. A fantastic aquarium. Even better than Baltimore and Chicago. You follow a single route that takes you through a path around the Pacific Ocean. Signs in English. Lots of children, was fun to see their reactions. Great barrier reef exhibit closed until 2024.

Visited this aquarium during the new year eve before my flight back home. It’s a 5-7minutes walk away from the train station. The entrance goes by hourly timing. Therefore, make sure you have sufficient time for buffer. There are a lot of sea animals and the most spectacular ones are the huge shark. Also, there are seals and penguins !

  • 4/5 Karen L. 9 months ago on Google
Spent an hour and a half here. The main part is a path swirling around a huge tanks with whale sharks etc. The dolphins will stop to let you take photos and the sleepy seals are super cute. You can also get a close look at penguins and seals. Great experience.

  • 3/5 Justin J. 9 months ago on Google
A nice large Aquarium with the main attraction being the whale shark. There are two tanks spanning about 5-6 floors, with them being the biggest. I would have liked more variety. I didn't see any opportunity to touch anything, but that could be because I didn't see anyone else touching sea creatures and I took that as a sign not to touch fish. Buy tickets in advance if you want it cheaper and don't want to wait around for your booking slot.

Really love this place!!! When I first knew about Kaiyukan, I knew immediately that I needed to go here. So, I had bought ticket online in advanced after I got my visa, and then I went to visit Kaiyukan. It's really large, like I walk and walk but still don't see the end of the hall =)))))) I like the design of the spiral here, I can see the animal from when they're above the water and then when they're deep in the water. Love the penguins so much, they're so cute!!! And the ring seal too!!! Oh, and I get to touch a kind of shark, forgot their name and some rays too, really cool. Will come back here if I have the chance :3

Words cannot describe how amazing an aquarium this place is. One of Osaka's many amazing tourist destinations. I don't want to spoil too much, but this aquarium will surprise you in how it's architecture is constructed. A tip for entering this aquarium would be to head into the aquarium as early as you can. You can purchase tickets online, allotting you a qr code ticket to scan before entering the aquarium. Another tip is to not worry about getting certain angles to view. Just enjoy the experience.

  • 4/5 Bec S. 8 months ago on Google
Strongly strongly recommend purchasing tickets online before going. In peak summer it is extremely busy and hot queuing in the sun for hours. The aquarium itself is nicely done, the air conditioning works well and the exhibits are impressive. The crowds are pretty intense at times, with kids running around; but that’s to be expected in a busy tourist spot. The Pacific Ocean enclosure is impressive, hosting two whale sharks which was cool to see up close- albeit a bit sad given how small their tank is compared to their natural habitat of the ocean. The Great Barrier Reef exhibit is closed till later in 2024.

  • 4/5 Aya H. 8 months ago on Google
It was a great experience to watch the whale sharks being fed. However, I found the aquarium a little small, I hoped to see a bigger variety of animals. The small food/snack area inside was really good though, the ice cream was delicious.

One of the largest aquariums in the WORLD! where else can you see the famous JINBEIZAME (whale shark). If you have the time, spend the extra to see the backstage area to get a look at how the logistics of feeding an aquarium full of diverse marine life take place. The cafe has some cute themed foods too.

  • 4/5 Benjamin H. 7 months ago on Google
We made a semi spontaneous trip here on a September weekday and had a great time here seeing all the aquatic creatures themed around the Pacific ring of life (mostly matching the Pacific ring of fire). There were otters, crabs, fishes, rays, seals, sea lions, sharks, penguins, jellyfishes and others throughout the whole facility. Unfortunately the Great Barrier Reef exhibit was under construction so a small part of the aquarium was covered up. You can get the ticket online beforehand and I recommend that you do it as the line for the ticket counters were much longer than the entrance line. The aquarium is close to the nearby train station about 10 minutes walk away. The gift stores have a lot of cute items but they were quite pricey (more expensive than Universal Japan I find). We can't help it and bought several items anyway.

Great aquarium. Very unexpected. A. Good selection of animals. Dolphins were very playful, the seals were funny as always. There a huge tank in the centre and it was just amazing to see the variety of fish floating around in there.

Stunning aquarium. Their flagship tank with the whale sharks is mesmerizing. I recommend going during the feeding time for the otters and checking out the dolphin show. However, I was disappointed by the last penguin exhibit. I'm not sure if their feathers are missing due to normal molting or because they lack sufficient space and water to swim in. Unfortunately, the great barrier reef exhibit was closed for renovations. Even with the staggered entrance intervals, be ready for large crowds, making it difficult to view the more popular exhibits.

Great experience, however, came when there were multiple excursion groups, so it was a bit noisy and hard to see some exhibits. The layout was easy to navigate, and there were plenty of toilets. The aquarium does have its own cafe/food options and also two separate gift shops to purchase from. Also note, the great barrier reef exhibit is closed till next year.

Crowded in some areas but other areas have good viewing opportunities. The whale sharks were beautiful. There wasn't a lot of information anywhere about the animals other than their names outside of the tanks, but it was a cool place to spend an hour or two.

If you enjoy aquariums this is a must see. Viewing areas and tanks are top notch. See new things around every corner. Enjoyed the way it toured the Pacific Ocean. Very relaxing and a great way to beat the heat of visiting in the summer.

i thought it was ok. the aquarium itself is really cool but it is way too packed so each exhibit is a battle to get a good look. the aquarium itself is honestly ready great, just the aquarium being overcrowded and the amount of foreigners makes it not the best experience. the whale shark theme soft serve was good.

Obsessed. Many different kind of fishes. The tanks were big. The japanese king crabs were huge. Felt a bit sorry for the Sunfish because they were kinda dumb. They need plastic wrap to protect their heads from hitting themselves. There were too many people, but it was worthwhile for me personally. Absolutely recommend if you enjoy seeing fish. (Reminder: It was very crowded)

One of the best aquariums around the globe. Very carefully planned so you can observe humongous tanks from any angle. Covers various Pacific ocean regions. Highly advise to book e-tickets online or you may need to stay in a significant line and then wait for your time. You can combine ticket with the bay boat ride and Legoland.

Very fun! It is crowded, but you expect that with such a large aquarium. Definitely recommend buying tickets beforehand to avoid the wait. Many cool exhibits and shows they put on at this place. If you get here during any feeding times, make sure you get a glimpse of it!

This aquarium offers an immersive experience into the fascinating world of marine life. Highlights include walking through a massive tank with a tunnel-like viewing area, witnessing diverse sea creatures from around the world, and enjoying educational displays and interactive exhibits. It's a great destination for both adults and children to learn about and appreciate aquatic life.

We are a family that loves aquariums and we were not disappointed. There is a huge range of marine life. The Whale Sharks were so impressive as was the tank they were in. We were lucky and saw a seal play time presentation which was loads of fun to watch. A definite visit for anyone that loves learning about sea creatures. There is a bit of walking and there is limited access for strollers. You can buy tickets at the door or online.

The environment was decent and not overly crowded. Some interesting exhibitions going on. The highlight whale shark tank had 2 whale sharks inside. However, felt like the variety of marine life on display was slightly lacking. Would also be nice if there were more educational information provided on the animals.

It’s quite cool, the seals were cute and they have a giant tank with sharks, whale sharks, rays and groupers. However, the exhibits for some of the animals were a bit sad. The dolphins‘‘, seals‘ and penguins’ tank were too small. The tanks did not have a lot of natural decoration which makes it more sad. For the price, I would say it’s good, and worth a visit. Maybe when the coral reef section opens up in sept 2024, it will be even better!

Good aquarium! I booked the online ticket for 9.45 time period which can enter until 10.00. The day I went was raining, so I was a little late by 9.50, however I got it in time. The online QR ticket can enter the aquarium directly. Inside the aquarium, there was no vending machine, so if you plan to stay here and enjoy all sea life for a long time, please be sure to prepare a bottle of water. However, they have a cafe, but it was quite deep and near the exit of the aquarium. This aquarium has many sea life creatures including fish, penguin, seal, dolphin. I really love the penguin one, they were too cute! The very wow one was the whale shark in the main tank, it will slowly swim around, so that everyone can meet them. Overall it's a very good place!

It's a huge aquarium with many different animals. Of course the whale shark was the tourist magnet. Even I, myself was amazed by its beauty but the pools seemed way to small for those giant creature. My favourite was the jellyfish room cause they had appropriate pools and were beautiful displayed. And the absolute highlight was this cute seal that welcomed me with a smile 😁

This aquarium showcases a diverse array of fascinating fish and marine creatures. The highlight is the pair of colossal whale sharks inhabiting the Pacific Ocean tank. The exhibition's narrative effectively conveys an important message, encouraging visitors to adopt more environmentally conscious practices, particularly in addressing the issue of plastic pollution in our oceans. It is an excellent destination for both children and adults to enjoy learning about marine life and the importance of conservation

Excellent aquarium, you take an escalator up high and slowly spiral your way down, passing various tall tanks and one gigantic central tank with two whale sharks! Really good price and a fantastic activity, with or without kids. It took us (3 adults) 1:45 to get through it moving at a pretty quick pace

We went on a Wednesday around noon. We bought tickets online in advance, which I would recommend for everyone because it's based on timed entry. It was very crowded with lots of kids and students on a school trip being noisy and running around, which was annoying but that's unavoidable. I was surprised by how big it is! Most of the aquarium is centered around a giant tank in the middle with some sharks and stingrays. A lot of people crowd around the tank when they first see it, but if you keep going down the corridor there are better views with fewer people further along. There's also a little cafe inside where you can get some ice cream or snacks. I had the soda-flavoured ice cream and it was great. There are two gift shops, and the smaller one inside the exit gates was more crowded. If you go out the exit and down the stairs, the second gift shop is much bigger and has some different items as well.

Fascinating experience! I was amazed to see those beautiful sea creatures, especially whale sharks, hammerhead sharks and manta rays. I would recommend coming here around afternoon (5 p.m.) to see the whole night show with relaxing music and lights creating a dreamy environment. You will definitely enjoy it!

We went to the aquarium after Osaka Castle on a Thursday. It was a great way to spend the rest of the afternoon. We arrived around 2:00PM and left around 4ish. The aquarium is great for anyone who enjoys underwater creatures 🐠. There were couples, families, etc. They have an area to park strollers, and lockers. The wildlife is incredible. Ticket line was super fast took about 5 minutes. Also, Lego land is nearby too and you can buy combo tickets. I enjoyed the penguins and Antarctic seals!

Absolutely loved this aquarium. Been here back in 2019 and loved it then too. The size of the exhibits and the sheer number of sealife here is spectacular. There were some renovations being done when I came here in early December 2023 but it was still a delight. This is definitely a place you do not want to miss out on.

Very nice aquarium and I can see why it is so highly revered. I came around 3pm on a Tuesday and bought my ticket at the gate for ¥2700. It didn't seem overly busy as I didn't have to fight for a view of any exhibit. Nice layout and wide variety of animals to see. Unfortunately the coral reef exhibit is not open until Sept 2024. But there is still a ton to explore and alot of English signs/descriptions for those that want to read

Great aquarium definitely better to go during weekdays as it's less busy. Better to buy tickets in advance, they allow you in based on time of ticket in 15 minute windows (although you can stay as long as you like once in it seems). We purchased our tickets in the morning for 430 pm, got there early to walk around (that was at 2pm and they were selling tickets for 415pm when we got there). The aquarium itself is impressive with display split by regions. The dolphins were a particular highlight.
