The Japanese coffee scene is one of the best in the world and this coffee shop not only exemplifies the experience, but also stands at the top of the scene. The Coffee: The Coffee was very condensed and had so much flavor packed into a small espresso shot. The water given to us by the owner helped us a lot and you can make an Americano with the espresso. Even though I have tried the strongest bitter tasting coffee option, the coffee bitter was so refined and mixed well with the whole taste that I kept sipping after the first. I have additionally tried a spoon of the 22-year barrel aged coffee, which tasted like a sweet wine syrup with no alcohol. It’s crazy to think that coffee can taste this good with no additional additives. Service/Atmosphere: The coffee master is devoted to the love for his craft and his motorcycle. He loved talking about his life stories and coffee journey. This is not a coffee shop you go to study or enjoy your morning espresso, but a journey into the master’s life devotion to crafting the greatest and only type of coffee in the world. I highly recommend this shop to anyone who wishes to have a once in a lifetime experience and loves coffee.

No one loves their craft like the owner of this coffee shop loves making coffee. What an experience!! Super friendly owner, full of amazing stories to tell that transcended the language barrier. Make sure to try the spoon of aged coffee, i had never tasted anything like that. I will remember this coffee shop and its owner for the rest of my life

The best coffee I have ever had in my experience of being alive. Absolute master of his craft. Difficult to describe in words what was experienced. Must try for people who appreciate coffee.

I had such a special experience visiting the Münch today. It came strongly recommended by a friend, and as I walked in, the master was very welcoming. He asked for my coffee preferences and came back with different drinks for my friends and I. My espresso came in a cup that he explained was from the Edo period, 350 years old. It was unlike any other coffee I've had before. He explained that he used 150 grams of coffee beans for my single serving. He also told my group about how he has the same coffee he served me in a barrel that has been aging since 1995, creating something like an ice wine-like coffee. I tried a spoon of it and went to heaven. The whole experience- waiting to let the coffee come to room temperature before letting it drip from the barrel, knowing it was the only coffee like it in the world- was amazing. The master is charming and very warm, I cannot wait to be able to visit again.

What an experience! The owner is super friendly! He shared his stories and his achievements with us. We tried the super strong coffee and one spoonful of the brewed coffee (like ice wine without alcohol) as the other reviewers described. The environment is unique, and there are some artefacts that are one of a kind. Highly recommended! Thank you so much for the hospitality! :)

Very good coffee and services. Very humble and friendly owner that told a bit of stories about his store, himself and his wares. Unforgettable experience! Tried the ¥100,000 coffee and it tasted like wine but without alcohol. Also tried the strongest coffee that tasted like 100x espresso mixed and a creamed coffee that is like jelly but still smooth with a pleasent taste. Additionally, the entire shop is also like an antique shop, where each cup has its own history. Definitely will come back again once if we ever stop by again!

This cafe was pretty far outside the city in a suburban neighborhood and a little bit of a walk but very much worth it! Tanaka who runs the cafe alone is open crazy hours from 6am to 3am so you can make time no matter even if you're in Osaka only for a day. AND YOU SHOULD! The experience is amazing and he will tell you the history of his craft as well as the history of the items in his shop from the beautiful French and Japanese cups to the tube sound system (amazing Aretha Franklin Jazz songs playing). He is very knowledgeable all of it. We had the 3 courses, the first was a cup of coffee made with his signature brewing method with the three hour brew time made prior. The coffee is undoubatly strong but smooth until the end. The second cup he made while we were in the shop and it took about 50 minutes. It did not feel that long though as we spoke the whole time. The method is very detailed and slow but worth it for the cup after. Surprisingly sweet as well with his blend if beans. However, what will truly blow you away is the 23 year old coffee he has aged in a barrel. The coffee is AMAZING. I have never tasted anything like it before. It is sweet and takes on the taste of the original alcohol that was created in the barrel with a strong undertones of blueberries. Even the smell is quite sweet and fragrant. There really are not words to describe it fully. If you visit Osaka you need to visit this cafe and make sure you get all three courses of coffee. Great coffee, great experience, amazing host, and impeccable first class customer service. Tanaka San even drove us back to the train station after because it was raining!

To come here for the coffee makes the trip well worth it, the stories told make this an unforgettable experience for a coffee enthusiast. The silky road is what I recommend, either with cream or without. I also tried the iced coffee wine (aged in oak barrel for 22 years) which was 2000¥ for a spoon! I really enjoyed it regardless. A must try for a coffee person Willing to go off the beaten track a bit.

This is a one of a kind coffee shop. The owner, Tanaka-san, a extremely friendly and talkative. Don't be startled when he asks you the whats, whens, hows and whys of your life: all is put to good use in the conversation that certainly follows! 😆 He only works with specialty coffee beans, and also has unique ways of preparing coffee, including his 20-year-old barrel-aged iced coffee, so prepare your wallet! He's an enthusiast, be it about his coffee, the vintage glassware, his porcelain cups from the Edo period or his motorcycle! Enjoy!

I tried a spoon of coffee that has been aging since the year I was born! Aromatic. Full of flavor. The frozen cheese cake they do was very rich and went really well with the coffee. The master there was so friendly that I decided to rate this place. I don’t like to rate places but the master asked me to and I thought that was cute lol

Great coffee shop for coffee connoisseurs. The owner is incredibly friendly and shared many stories of his shop and life. The coffee is delicious and STRONG. The shop was featured on YouTube and in magazines. He has a barrel of 27 year aged coffee. I asked if the shop really is open from 6am until 3am, he said it is true. He lives on the second floor of the shop and will come down to serve you if you call him ahead of time. The shop is open 365 days a year, even through the New Years holiday when many places are closed in Japan. I will definitely come again!

The best coffee I ever had. Ask for the signature "only in Japan". The coffee is served in Baccarat glass and it is served in cold. Its taste is so deep, aromatic, and powerful. it is totally my pleasure to have chance drinking it.

The owner is passionate about his coffee, his work and his life. He was most friendly and extremely enthusiastic using his pocket translator communicating with us. Apart from the great coffee he served, he also proudly showed off his mono block Western Electric VT25 tube amplifiers. The sound through the vintage speakers would please any audiophiles. The Munch is simply amazing.

I was recommended to visit a coffee shop “Münich” in a tranquil suburban neighborhood. • The owner of the coffee shop—Kanji Tanaka is a very friendly and talkative coffee enthusiast! • He recommended to try his special blend Spartan スパルタン (Indonesia, Tanzania, Jamaica, Colombia) which was made in an unusual way: 1.5 kg of beans were poured with 200cc of water in a Nel Drip system for 4 hours, then it dripped for 3 hours. • Think about the numbers! The coffee is extremely strong!!! • The taste is creamy, oily, rich, bitter and for me it was a strong note of soy sauce or sweet thick balsamic vinegar. • The cup costs 1.300¥ (and it was the most expensive cup of coffee I’ve ever drunk) for 20cc of coffee. • The super special and the most expensive coffee in the shop is aged in an oak barrel for 25 years and made from the same Spartan blend. • Tanaka-san gave me a spoon of this coffee for tasting and it was nothing like coffee at all! The taste is more sweet wine-like, super smooth and full-body, oily as well. • Unforgettable experience!

Kanji Tanaka is a SUPER FRIENDLY man. Full of stories. Doesn't matter if you speak japanese or not, you will understand. We had the chance to taste the 27 year-old coffee and it was... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! Tasted like port. Really, really great experience. I will definitely be back.
