Was a nice feeling to visit there. All those sea breeze and vintage restaurants, buildings, people there, shops. All Together its an awesome place to be present there. Best time is evening just before sunset.

A place having fascinating history. We can enjoy beach walk with friends and family. A ideal place to watch local fishermen using Chinese fishing net. There are benches all along. Stay upto the evening to witness one of the beautiful sunset. Many local handicrafts shops and some coffee shops for some small shopping and coffee time

Fort Cochin is a famous historic place. The beach is good, but some areas are piled up with plastic waste. Live fish shops are there on the side of the walkway and they will cook the one selected. Nice place to chill out and enjoy the sunset....

This is one of the top visited place is Fort Kochi and I am really sorry to say that this area is dirty, full of garbage all around. I saw many foreigners and Indian tourists visiting this point and for sure they would not be happy to see garbage alongside the historical monument. Local authorities should look seriously to improvise the situation

One of the main attraction of fort Kochi. At the time of entering the palce you will experience how dirt tha place is. Foul smell coming from the corners 😤.... The scenery of the ships and fishing nets will give you a good experience. There are so many small stalls are located within the place where you can buy ice creams, some handcraft products etc.

    - vasco da gama square is a tourist attraction in kochi (Ernakulam ) - This place is with fascinating history Nice place for an evening walk for sun set - got open stage - we can see the Chinese fishing net (This is an ideal space where we could watch fishermen using this net, and we can even buy fish from there) - Children's park is also available ( at the time of visit 17/12/23 it was closed due to maintenance) Got stall where we could find delicious seafood - auto taxi available, local bus, ferry also available ( ferry cost only 6₹ per Head from Marin drive to fort kochi, for bus 20 above from Ernakulam junction )

Positives: 1. It's a very beautiful place, ideal for spending an evening with family, watching sunrise/sunset or for an early morning jog or cycle trip. 2. There are no commercial establishments like hotels or street vendors to spoil the serenity. Negatives: 1. The road is very narrow, just enough for two cars to pass and there is barely any space for parking the car. You have water on both sides, so be careful while driving. 2. Actually, this this is just a road, not a sightseeing place officially, and as such there are no civic amenities at all, so no urinals or anything of that sort. 3. The place is getting awfully popular, so in weekends, you can expect hundreds of people in the evenings, all of them in cars and all of them taking up precious road space for parking. The approach to this road is so narrow that two compact- SUVs will have a hard time passing each other. Hence expect major traffic blocks as you try to get back out. Final recommendation: Must visit place but preferably on a two wheeler and on weekdays.

Cool and calm place... For long walks and peaceful atmosphere, this is the best place... In sync with the nature... There are lot of trees and hence walking is less tiring... Also, there is always a soothing breeze from the nearby beach area with a wonderful view of the Arabian Sea with Chinese net near the shore for catching fish... There is also a park for the kids near the beach... All the buildings are really attractive and the scenic beauty is so overwhelming that we feel like we are in a different place... People come here for photoshoots too... There are a number of hotels and café and that too add to the beauty of the place.... Also, there are many small vendors selling all kinds of things from cool drinks to dresses to shells and ornamental items along the beach side...

A nice place to hangout with friends and walk around.Lots of trees, benches to sit and walk way with paved stones. Littering is a big problem here. The shore is dirty too. Too much garbage. We cannot go into water because of garbage deposition.

One of the must visit place in Kochi When u enter the square u will enter the whole different world, which is connected to history of Vasco-De-Gama. The architecture here is amazing and u can't even stop looking at them. U have to stay a whole day here to explore completely. The churches, hotels, beaches and the old way of catching fish is amazing and the time u enter here u will fall in history

The best place where we can spend some quality time with someone. Many stores and restaurants available there as well. Much crowded in Sundays as usual. Make sure that the parking is done correctly and walk through the shores to enjoy the views.

Kadamakkudy is a beautiful place in Ernakulam, gifted by nature and seldom visited by a variety of migratory birds. Early mornings and evenings are the best times to be here. For people interested in bird watching, the place offers sightings of a variety of birds early in the morning. The evenings are also good, however it is busier in the evening with people coming to enjoy the beautiful sunset. Weekends are generally crowded, and the limited width of the road makes it difficult for people travelling by car. So if the weather is clear, a two wheeler would be the better choice.

Beautiful place infrastructures wise. The built and they are maintaining the hereditary in very good way. Many restaurants and outlets etc they are running it but still you can see the locality beauty. Other side of the Kochi fort is sort of messy but this side it’s good. Liked the place.

The square had a variety of small shacks. Needs more cleaning and waste control. Nearby park with outdoor was being renovated. Roads were okay. There was enough parking space especially for two wheelers. Walkable distance to fish nets, viewpoints.

It's not fields.. It's not forest.. It's just water everywhere, shallow. There are tree trunks scattered scarcely, no leaf.. A narrow road leads to the place, only a good driver can be confident to reach there. Trees are scattered on the road, which makes driving difficult. Everyone must visit the place at least once.

Vasco da Gama Square in Fort Kochi, near the sea shore, is an ideal place to spend the evenings. One can see stalls that sell nuts, tender coconut, spices, and other local delicacies. Fishermen lower the Chinese fishing nets into the sea and fresh catch is brought to the nearby fish market. Owned by the Municipal Corporation of Kochi, Vasco da Gama has an open stage for cultural performances. This place received its name three decades ago. This place is named after the legendary Portuguese sailor Vasco da Gama who was the first European to reach the Indian subcontinent by sea. The mission of his voyage was to search for the details of the spice market of and trade routes to the Malabar region on the Indian coast. His fleet of ships reached Kappad near Calicut in 1498. Gama’s discovery of the sea route to India was significant and opened the way for an age of global imperialism. Pedro Álvares Cabral, another Portuguese sailor, followed Gama, reaching Calicut and travelling from there to Kochi. A treaty was signed between the Portuguese and the King of Kochi which followed the construction of Fort Emmanuel in 1503 at Kochi, the first European fort in India. The city in the Portuguese fort area was called Santa Cruz, the first European 'city' in India.

This is historical part of Fort Kochi. Lot of trees, greenery and wide walkways. Many houses and buildings are of the Dutch era. You can walk along the backwaters and climb on to one of the Chinese fishing nets, the people there are only happy to receive a visitor and explain the mechanics as to how it works.

Location of the famous Chinese fishing nets. Nice walkway on the beachside with shops selling trinkets. Further down, there are eateries with seafood items. Not too crowded when we went there on a weekend. There is parking near the church and cars were also parked on the road in front of the no parking signs😃

The place is just so lovely for a walk during sunset as well as at night, the breezy weather tops everything during monsoon. The sunset was the best I've ever seen. I took a stroll way down the lane until the end where I got an ice cream and just watched the waves crash on the rocks and on the sand. However i really would appreciate if the locals as well as tourist were a little more concerned about the cleanliness and not litter everywhere. Other than the garbage around the sea at some corners of the beach it will easily be one of the best beaches in India. Similar to the Rocky beach of pondicherry but it's so much more cleaner. So i guess the authorities or some bodies should take up actions to clean and the public in general should just stop littering everywhere. And yes keeping that in mind, there should be garbage bins around the pathway as there are lots of food stalls so the maintenance should be done with much more care. I would love to visit it again. If you are a tourist looking for souvenirs you get get plenty along the pathway as well as nearby areas as the locality features many shops with such great collections especially the handprint fabrics and jewelry everything can be found in just a walk throug the area.

The place just vibrates positive energy. From historical buildings to a beachfront walkway and a kids park where one could sit and enjoy the bustle of the people, no one would regret spending some time here. Walk along the path around the beach and you'll find historical memmorials and objects from the british raj like the anchor of 'Lord Willingdon' which was used by Robert bristow to help transorfm kochi, Steam boilers of cranes and the pillar memorial of the Great fire of cochin erected in 1890!

This is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Kochi. Evening is the best time to visit, but any time in the day is fine as there are a lot of tress for shade. You can see Chinese fishing nets and may get a chance to try pulling it. There are some restaurants in the area which cook freshly caught fish for you. Parking space is available. Cleanliness is average.

  • 4/5 Dibakar D. 3 years ago on Google
A good well maintained place for tourists and locals to have some calm time. A lot of eateries, gift items are available here. This place also have the unique Chinese fishing nets and one can get to buy fresh fish from here. For me, a time well spent. Paid parking is available at different locations for 2 wheelers and 4 wheelers.

It could become such a beautiful place if only it was maintained properly. Nice place for morning/evening walk. But the beach is dirty and is shrouded in bad smell. If you glare at the collective garbage long enough you will see rats the size of cats running around and fighting with other wild animals in the rubbish collected on the beach.

  • 5/5 midhun v k. 2 years ago on Google
Awesome ambience... Walk way is there.. Too many small shops and street vendors. The whole area was surrounded by shades of huge trees. Always crowded by foreigners... Unfortunately due to the covid now local tourists only. Chinese nets for fishing are another attractions of the place. Too many fishermens are also there.. Can see the fusion of both backwaters and sea. Plenty of huge ships and navy ships are passing through the area. Also many old buildings built by dutch are well maintaining there. Plenty of restaurants and stay facility available.. Its nice to relax and take the cool breath..

Vasco da Gama Square is located in Fort Kochi. I visited the place in the evening. The view of the sun setting was good. And it's good to hang out with friends and see the beauty of the nature. I recommend to visit this place in the early morning or in the evening. The main attraction of this place is it has got Chinese fishing nets.

You can easily spend 1-2hrs watching various fishing activities, taking photos of beach side. It’s in fort Kochi and Chinese fishing nets & bastion bunglow is near by. There is Naval museum few kms away from this point. Better to roam around these places in two wheelers as they are quite a few places within 5 km radius to visit. There are few small souvenir shops roadside little further from this place. There are nice cafe nearby. Better to visit either in morning or evening. You will enjoy this place

A touristy spot with lots of greenery and shade. You'll find a lot of vendors selling food, drinks and souvenirs. There is a stone walkway, benches all around. There are Chinese fishing nets here as well which for a charge will let you have experience of using it. On the downside there is a lot of litter and trash all around. Also the water has s lot of rubbish which is very sad. Overall a calm and peaceful place but not very clean.

Good place with a great view. Arabian sea does the magical trick during sunset, the view gets more better when the waves gets stronger in the evening. There is a kids park next to the beach, to entertain lil ones. Many street food stalls on the shore to munch on. Since there is a fish market on the shore, the place stinks a bit.

he last port of Vasco Da Gama, where you will find synagogues, mosques, churches and temples side by side, is a place with a fascinating history. The huge cantilevered fishing net, the Chinese fishing nets, seen here is a legacy of its spellbinding past. The nets, set up on teak and bamboo poles, were brought by one of the first visitors to the Malabar Coast, the traders from the court of Kublai Khan.
