Sothuparai Dam

Tourist attraction

👍 This was the most aesthetically pleasing experience I have ever had. The dam looked soo gorgeous. The water was really clean and flowed out really fast. The structure was in a very good shape. A good place to take a quick detour from a long trip. People often mention water, visit,

Very scenic. Not so big as near by Vaigai Dam but it is very pleasant and scenic. Prime water source for the surrounding area. Located near Periyakulam town. 15-20 mins drive from Periyakulam. Main entrace is close for general public but there is an another way at the left side of the main gate which takes you to the top of the dam.

Sothuparai Dam is awesome. Water is crystal clear. When I went we are not allowed on top of the Dam. Not sure if closed for Pongal Holidays.

The dam is mostly Closed, no one is clear of the opening and closing time of the dam, if someone knows please do inform. Climate is The same as usual, Relaxing and Comforting. An absolute treat to the viewer, compounds like Mountain Boulders, such a Mighty view, a different experience must say. Pay a Visit, wouldn't disappoint you.

I went to visit on 23.7.23 The gates were closed no body was there. Even the water level was very low. But that doesn't matter. Because I just enjoyed the view and all the mango trees on the way to the dam Nothing special Nothing worth complaining

Currently closed . The public is not allowed to enter the dam. But the location is very naturistic, even in the locked state you can visit the dam from outside. Mountains are covering the dam with their majestic view.

Located at the foothills of Western ghats, the reservoir is the source of water for irrigation and drinking purposes for half the district. The location is known for its splendid view of forest, hills and coconut plantations. Located on the way towards Agamalai forest reserve, people can go and enjoy the breezy weather. Due to COVID, the entrance into the reservoir walls are restricted and not opened to the public yet. If you want to have a bath in the river, you can do so on the irrigation channels that have flown all the time. It is very accessible as the channel flows parallel to the road that leads to the dam.

You cannot enter inside, but the enroute to dam (7 km from periyakulam)is quite scenic one with dense mango farms on both side of the road.
