Bethamangala Dam, Bangarpet This Dam is located in Bethamangala which is a small town in the Bangarpet taluk of Kolar district in Karnataka state. It has a large man made lake. This Dam is constructed across the Palar river which originates in the Nandi hills flows through the Bethamangala. This dam has been Constructed in the British era along with another larger Dam at the Ramasagara. If you are looking to escape from hustle and bustle of the city and like to spend some time in a peaceful environment, you can visit this place. Amazing View points from the top of the dam. However it is said that the water in the reservoir is used for drinking purposes, the government naturally restricts entry to avoid pollution of the water. There's the pump house which purifiers the water from the reservoir and supplies the drinking water to the nearby mining city of Kolar Gold Fields (KFG), about 5 miles from Bethamangala. This place is also a popular picnic spot. Good serene place, uncommercial with lesser crowd and pollution. Better to travel by own vehicle. City bus service is also available. HUMBLE REQUEST TO THE VISITORS, DO NOT THROW THE PLASTIC, BOTTLES OR OTHER GARBAGE AND DONOT DO SOME NONSENSE. TRY TO KEEP IT CLEAN. JUST ENJOY THE BEAUTY OF IT.

It looks really beautiful definitely a picnic spot but there needs to be some attention from the gov to make it a tourist place. During our visit there wasn't much water so it was not flowing through. The purification plant near the dam's premise is beautifully built. They say 124 years old but still running with full energy.

Nice place to visit, scenery around the dam is very nice as you can see in the photos below. Dam is very narrow, need to be careful while walking on it.

Don't come just for this dam, not worth it. But if you have come to this surrounding (within 10km) for something else, maybe worth a visit.

Not crowded. Can spend around an hour or so. A very huge lake. Try visiting after rain to see water being released.

First of all not at all an tourist attraction. No water. Not an huge dam like Krishnaraja Sagar Dam (KRS Mysore). Waste of time. No shops, no restrooms, no people in and around the place and it seems like an isolated place with absolute absence of security for people visiting here. Don't see the photos posted in maps and visit it because they might have taken it during the monsoon months or few years ago.

Place is serene and calm... Evening walks will be amazing, Only concern is once it gets dark no lights are there, so no security and as there are snakes and other creatures, better to carry your own light source
