The hotel was built in the old town by connecting historical buildings above and below ground. The buildings were modernized without losing its character. It has a regional typical ambiance which is elegant and warm. Everything is very clean and well kept. The restaurants have great service and delicious food. The hotel bar and the front terrace are a perfect place to hang out. The hotel has a recognized gourmet restaurant and a spa. Delicious breakfast serving some special cold cuts that are typical on the region. Perfect place to go to spoil yourself.

We celebrated our wedding there and came back for several occasions. The management of the wedding was outstanding. The food in the normal restaurant itself can be classified as very good. We did not test the Soldan-Restaurant. The service in general is excellent. There might be rare occasions of flaws which only come to your attention because one is used to a sensationally polite and helpful staff. As already stated by other reviewers the SPA area is a place of pure beauty of relaxation. Of course this all has it's (monetary) price. The hotel the best in the region and can be unreservedly recommended. You have to try that SPA! Update 2019: Still one of the most lovely hotels I know.

Sonne Frankenberg is an absolute wonderful Hotel and destination. The three restaurants, the SPA and the rooms are an absolute perfect setup and just everything is of high quality with a great attention to detail. The quality of service and friendliness of the entire team is absolutely amazing. We stayed there for 6 days and just enjoyed every single day. We can't wait to return.

Wonderful hotel. Excellent and very personal service from the staff. A laidback atmosphere all over the hotel - you feel immediately at home. Situated in the center of the old town, at a very charming location. Rooms are spotless clean and nicely decorated. Spa was such a treasure - a moment of total relaxation and silence. A nap in the waterbed 😍 Loved every moment and every bite of the food we had. We’ll definitely go back!

I went to the restaurant but had no accomodation there. This restaurant is in a very old half timbered house right by the old market place. The interior matches the old style, very cosy and atmospheric. The meals are not cheap but of excellent quality. Very much worth visiting. Good espresso, too.

Great food, clean rooms, great service!

We chose to venture into the countryside and stay in one of the top 25 hotels in Germany (as rated by Tripadvisor). We were rewarded with excellent service and amazing food! Thank you again for having us.

Very pleasant experience with this hotel. The staff was wonderful and the hotel was very well appointed and clean. The food at the hotel's restaurant was excellent as well. Also, the location in Frankenberg is the best and there are many sites to see. My only regret is that I was unable to stay longer here.

Beautiful hotel, spacious accommodations, and delicious dining both for breakfast and dinner. This hotel has all the charm- from its classic exterior to spa-like bathroom that brings all the comforts of home. We travelled with two young kids from abroad and our suite was more than enough room for all of us to sleep and unwind after a long day of travel. The bathroom was a dream with big tub and big shower. The breakfast buffet was well stocked with various breads, spreads, fruits, juices, American and European proteins, cereals- there was something for everyone. And we had a dinner in the Michelin-starred restaurant downstairs and it was spectacular. I would highly recommend this hotel, especially for a family with kids and after a long flight. If traveling as a couple, the spa cannot be missed! We didn’t have time to book a spa appointment but that is on my list for next time!

Pleasant reception and booked for 2 nights, rooms are nice, spacious and cleaned properly. Lots of variety at the delicious breakfast in a beautiful large cozy room, you are really at ease. We have used the beautiful wellness. Here too everything was taken care of and a pleasant stay. Good food at the hotel and the very nice location made this stay complete.

Very good hotel. Reception staff is exceptional. Rooms of medium - small size, but very comfy. Breakfast is good. You can have dinner in a hotel restaurant, but the prices are rather high. Likely, there are plenty of caffes nearby.
