The museum is located right in the city center. Paid parking spaces are available on Peter-Plumpe Platz. From there you walk about 150 meters to the main entrance on Annastrasse. Masks are required in the museum. CORONA. It's not very crowded in the morning, so distances can be maintained. The museum offers e.g. Currently there are two special exhibitions worth seeing, Lego and Baroque porcelain. In addition, there are permanent exhibitions on the topics of children's toys, old crafts and art, pilgrimage and piety as well as historical and ground finds. Much more. The museum is an experience for young and old. You should plan at least 2 hours for a visit. Entrance fees are family-friendly and moderate; €4.00/adults, children and pensioners reduced.

Nice little museum. There is a large antique toy collection in the permanent exhibition. There is currently a great Playmobil exhibition taking place until mid-February 2024. With puzzles and a large Playmobil carpet to play with yourself. Really very lovingly designed and there is always something new to discover. The museum has a small cafe for drinks and the staff are very nice. There is a nice playground right in front of the museum.

Sehr empfehlenswert 👍

We went to the Playmobil exhibition with our granddaughter and then to the museum. Simply well done and very entertaining.

We became aware of the artists Hapke and Henschel's exhibition “Secret Work - Work in the Shadows” via a WDR report. The museum attracts visitors with its affordable entrance fee and friendly welcome. The exhibition was very interesting, but I would have liked a few more pictures from Henschel. We also visited the other exhibition rooms and got a colorful look at the different areas of folklore. To the city: It's a shame that the paid parking facility has limited the amount of time you can spend in the museum and the nice city center. Otherwise we would have liked to stop in for dinner. So it stayed with a cup of coffee.

We came here quite spontaneously. The man at the checkout gave us very good information about the rooms, so we immediately wanted to take a look at everything If you like to look at toys from the past and look at old-fashioned ways of life, this is the right place for you. A real recommendation for the whole family and at a low price.

What great museum. Not what i expected. Full of old fashion toys, dolls house and much more. Well worth a look in. I was rather surprised by how big and interesting it was. Old crafts, such as black smith, woodwork and more to see. Only downside was it was all in German only. So found it difficult to read. If your language is Dutch you can communicate that way. The museum started from the 1980s and went down the years.

The exhibition is divided into a special exhibition and a permanent exhibition. At the time of my visit, the special exhibition was a film poster exhibition, with a large collection of posters of popular films from the 1950s to the 2000s, which showed that the museum had put a lot of effort into this project. The permanent exhibition is divided into two parts: an exhibition on children's culture, featuring toys and school classrooms, and an exhibition on the history and culture of the region. The exhibition on children's culture is impressive in its amount, which is not seen in any other museum. This alone is worth a visit. The local cultural history is also well presented, with a wealth of metalworking items such as coins, which have been a feature of the region since the Middle Ages, as well as recreations of various occupations and dwellings. In total, for a small town folklore museum, the exhibition is very good in terms of quality, and is not inferior to the larger museums in the city. There is also a café and bookshop at the entrance and many restaurants on the street outside the museum. The museum can be reached by train from Düsseldorf in a day trip.

(Translated by Google) Very interesting, The individual subject areas are clear and not too big. The building has an interesting architecture. I was able to learn a lot about the left Lower Rhine. The Advent exhibition (special exhibition) is also nicely done. It was a worthwhile visit to the museum for an entry fee of € 4.

(Translated by Google) The 80s exhibition Popper - Punker - Yuppies is a hit. The permanent exhibition is to my liking anyway, here you learn a lot from the descriptions. The employees are always very friendly.

(Translated by Google) I already knew the museum from earlier, since I am a carpenter myself, an absolute must. We were there for the 80's exhibition and I loved it just hit the theme very very well! After that we went to the toy exhibition, which I really liked.
