Beautiful place in CBD. We interacted with Chef directly. The lovely lady suggested us what can we order as per our requirements. She prepared it really well. The food was bit heavy but this is what is expected from Indian food.

Came here on a busy Saturday night. The food was delicious as always and the drinks menu interesting. Originally came here for the Thalis they serve during lunch which are great value. Very friendly service and waiters are very lovely too. I recommended to everyone come here and have delicious food. I tried sweet wow ! That was amazing. πŸ˜‹πŸ˜‹ It's great experience. I visited Red Pepper after a few years, and it's really gone downhill. The prices are very steep and in some cases make no sense at all (steamed rice is $4 a serve while cumin rice is $12?) Food took over 45 minutes to come, no acknowledgement from the staff. Even the cheapest Indian restaurants provide some pappadums to munch on while waiting, nothing here. When the food did come, the portion sizes were very small. We weren't full after it and ordered something else, which again took well over 30 minutes to come. Will not visit again.

Under staffed! The portion size is way significantly small and the price is sky rocketing for nothing compared to other Indian restaurants around. It took 50mins for them to serve us that too after we had to ask them how long would they take as the kids were hungry. Taste was Ok though. Would not recommend to anyone going there for a family lunch/dinner. πŸ‘ŽπŸ»

Authenticity of the food matters. This restaurant serves authentic Indian food. This time around, we missed the Sarso ka Saag which I had the opportunity to taste about 5 years ago and never forgot about. Goat curry (aka mutton in the Indian sub continent) is something I try every single time I visit any restaurant belonging to that region. The reason is that goat meat is lean meat and requires knowledge and preparation for properly cooking it. It is like a benchmark that I use to rate restaurants. I tried the same scale at Red Pepper, and Oh My God!, I was licking my fingers. Thank you, aunty Ji! We loved the food. All other dishes and breads including naans, rice, daal, paneer and butter chicken were top notch. Serving portions are about right. Although, I noticed few other reviews mentioning smaller portion sizes. That is possibly because Indian restaurants normally offer larger servings. I'm happy to let go of a large serving for an authentic taste like the one here. Yet, a little extra would help me stay satiated and happier. Waiting time can appear long depending on how packed the restaurant is. (I guess keeping folks busy with free poppadoms etc can be a good distraction while they wait). Serving staff are polite and friendly. Worried about parking? Leave your vehicle at home and take public transport. This restaurant is right across the Parliament station. It won't be long before we are back.

Thalis are back for lunch. A couple of points, the staff are lovely. Don’t believe what other reviews are saying. But the curries lack flavour and depth like they used to. A little on the bland side and I would prefer a plain white rice rather than their Pulao which is offered. I had a mix of 3 non veg and one veg. It just lacked harmony of flavour. This used to be my go to place. I would recommend Delhi Eats over this place.

Enjoyed a nice Thali here on a Thursday lunchtime. Our party of 10 were the only ones in here. We had pre ordered so didn't wait long for the food to arrive. Food was hot and tasty. The young guy waiting on the tables was very polite and helpful.

100% Indian Authentic food and proper Indian hospitality. If you like quality, authenticity of taste and warm welcoming positive vibe then this is place for you but just to be on safe side try to book your table specially on a busy day. It’s been 2.5 years in Australia but haven’t tasted this superior quality and authenticity of Indian Cousine from Brisbane to Melbourne red pepper is the best. Hope to visit soon Melbourne for this good quality food and positive vibes. Thanks a lot Red Pepper teamπŸ˜‡.

The food was amazing, however it took over 45 min for the order to arrive. By which time I had consumed one and a half Strong Kingfisher beers and was very amenable. The photo is of the barramundi curry which was amazing. Also the waitress was very helpful..

The food was very average. It didn’t taste like authentic Indian food. It tasted like pre-cooked frozen food from coles. The place is nice but the food is far from it. Dirty cup and random bits of food in our naan didn’t help.

Took some time to get our food. The paneer butter masala was too sweet tasting. The lacha parntha was nice but a bit hard to eat as it was too crumbly. They also forgot to give us serving spoons so had to wait while the food got cold. Space is nice for small groups- 3-4 people. Too cramped for large groups. Didn't get free papadams πŸ˜•

Top notch! Iconic Indian restaurant in Melbourne since 2006. Authentic flavours and great use of spices. Top service today at lunch. Timely and attentive. Butter Chicken is one of the best in Melbourne. Naan exceptional. So good to experience a G&T and other great cocktails. Took hot curry home after my meal as takeaway for dinner. Red Pepper never fails.

One of the best Indian restaurants not only in Melbourne, but in Australia! Met the head chef on my first visit there and she treated us like her own family, with so much warmth and love. The food is amazing every time I go there! 1000% recommended!

We celebrated our anniversary over lunch at red pepper. The food and service was absolutely amazing! Portion is just the right size and slightly towards the bigger side. Even my daughter said it was finger licking good. Thank you once again for helping us make our anniversary extra special! Will definitely come again

Best food ever. Friendly, humble and beautiful staff. We got an opportunity to have a great conversation with chef (beautiful women passionate to serve delicious food to there customers). Nothing is like canned food or pre-made,she made everything herself. If you are craving for authentic Indian food must visit.

Very nice restaurant, I was looking for a good quality Indian restaurant in Melbourne and this was highly recommended. The garlic naan was very soft and buttery, came quickly, and our other dishes soon followed thereafter. The fish curry was delicious, usually they’re a hit or miss but I will definitely be re-visiting Red Pepper to try the rest of the menu!

One of the tastiest Indian restaurants around Melbourne CBD. Spice levels are on point and serving size is decent. Tandoori rotis are soft , Butter chicken and Kadai paneer are tasty. Papdi chat is loaded with flavours.

We went here in 2018 and it was really good. Now in 2023 the food lacked the same flavour. It was ok, nothing bad to say, just wasn’t fantastic. The service, however, was great. The French host was lovely.

The food was great. Very tasty. Perfectly spicy. Being from the USA, we are used to restaurants lowering the spice levels, but I like more heat.. and the Lamb Vindaloo was perfect! Loved it!! Best India food we've had at a restaurant.

All other Indian restaurants were jam-packed. We got a table in this restaurant. It was good that we got our dinner, but after eating their food I realised the reason why their tables were available.

The ambience of this place, being rather dark would be better for dinner than lunch. It took about half an hour for the main to come out as well which was a butter chicken and a rice. Our papadams came in earlier and was slightly bitter because of the burnt bits. The curry was good but I've had better for less money ($26). My friend and I were sharing but if you were actually hungry might need to order another curry to stay satisfied. Not a bad place but again would be better if you didn't just have an hour for lunch and aren't rushing anywhere.

1-Visited a day before yesterday without booking a table, waitress with red hairs asked us to wait for around 90 minutes even though they had vacant tables. Just for fun I tried to book table online and I got reservation just after 15 minutes. 2- she served (red haired girl) our meal to the wrong table and when they refused, she took it inside and bring it again after 10 minutes, not only this, we ordered garlic naan and again she served it to the wrong table so we had to wait for around 25 minutes to get another one. Well the food was awesome, but you can't enjoy things after this experience.

Pretty decent Indian joint. Ordered the lamb roganjosh, the curry is delicious and the lamb is still moist and pink on the inside. Apart from the slow service, I would recommend the place for any curry lovers.

Went on a very busy night, the staff was limited but the sumptuous food was well worth the wait. Possibly one of the best curries I have had in a long time.

πŸ‘πŸ‘ Went for lunch & ordered their lunch sets. The nice waitress did hint the portion size will not be a lot but we ordered 4 sets of different food to give it a go. We are all pleasantly surprised with the taste & it's also fairly spicy which we loved it (an enjoyment especially in cold winter). You...
