One of the most grand Cathedrals we have seen in South lndia, we travel aot and see most historic places and places of worship. That's one way to understand the way people live and commune with each other. We reached around 2 PM, but they were good enough to open it for us so we could go inside. The guard was so nice, walked with all around the periphery of the cathedral. He shared many stories of the construction too. The construction is grand and unique, the surrounding greens beautiful and expansive. The hall inside is huge, the Alter greets you big, you feel like sitting inside and praying, spontaneously. It would be a great experience, attending service there.

Everyone must visit this church. It’s one of the largest church in the country.

St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral in Sulthan Bathery. An amazing church architecture. The Catholic diocese of Bathery was established in 1978 by Pope John Paul II and was formally inaugurated on 2 February 1979. On February 2, 1979, Cyril Mar Baselios assumed official leadership of the Eparchy of Bathery, and the new diocese was established at St. Thomas Pro-Cathedral, Sulthan Bathery. At the start of the diocese, there were about 8,500 Malankara Catholic believers spread among 43 parishes and mission sites. Two priests from Bethany Ashram and eighteen diocesan priests were assigned to oversee the pastoral care of the community. Additionally serving in various diocese locations were the Bethany sisters and the Deena Sevana Sabha sisters. A large number of parishes and mission stations were quickly founded across the Eparchy. Had no idea about the church and we stopped while returning back to Ooty from Wayanad. Was surely taken back by the architectural beauty and it's size. Went there on New year's day and I'm hoping things would be better this year.

The church is an imposing structure. Pretty atmosphere. We reached at 5 ish pm and there were only few couples who sure are not church goers who were spending some nice time at the premises. The architecture is very busy . Photograhble monunment.
