History: In the year 1760AD on a new moon night of autumn the sacred premises of Sri Sri Karunamoyee Kali Temple were lit up by the lamps of her first Diwali. Almost 190 years prior to that, the wicks of those lamps had been twisted round when the history began its course of journey. In the 10 th century AD the Lord of Bengal, Maharaja Adisur invited five Brahmans from faraway Kanyakuvja (Kanauj) to perform Yajna (Vedic Sacrifice). Among those five Brahmans, all learned scholars and conversant with the Vedas and scriptures, Vedagarbha was one who belonged to the Sabarna clan disciples of the great sage Sabarna, the son of the Sun God. Vedagarbha had fathered twelve son disciples in Bengal. Among them, the Hal was the luckiest to obtain for himself a village called “Gango” and, in this way, his generation earned the title “Gangopadhyay” or “Ganguly”. Kamdev Gangopadhyay was the fourteenth man of this generation Sandharati time: 8:00 pm

One of the oldest Kali Mandir of Kolkata as well as of South Kolkata. During ambassa and other festivals, there is a huge rush of devotees. The things needed for Puja offerings are also available in front of the main gate.

All must pay a visit to this divine temple. It's quite resemble with Maa Dakhineswari Temple design of temple. Temple committee also restricted plastic bag, instead of they provide flower bucket for worship, at entrance. Also not allowed to lit candles and Pradip. Also not allowed photography inside the main temple.

Beautiful, calm, serene atmosphere. No rush at all. You can literally spend hours at this temple without any jostling you around. It is said to be a replica of Dakshineswar temple. Definitely worth a visit

Very peaceful place... The kali temple is situated in a very populated area in tollygunge but though entering the temple all noise will be gone .. no parking available.. the main gate of the temple is very congested... From tollygunge metro station (uttam kumar) u have to take a auto towards sakherbazar or behala chowrasta or kabardanga route... Loved this evening spending here...

Today I first visited this temple , the temple is so nice and beautiful. Pandits are also very good. I plucked a flower from there for Mahadev, just for worship. But one boy short height middle age.. he is behaving like very nonsense, he is telling that get out from the temple.. you have to give 1000 rupees fine. He said to my mother "baje mohila" so on... I am requesting to the management of the temple.. why they hired this type of people in the temple. Please Take action against him for those nonsense things. After that I go to the office and there is also a lady who is behaving like a illiterate person. After that there is a man I blue tshirt I asked for the fine. And he said no there is no fine. But don't do it again. I said sorry for that . But the middle aged boy and the lady they are absolutely nothing.

Karykartas inside mandir not attending properly--not even letting see the Goddess face--Lots of heavy cameras fixed at every doors and windows of the garbhagriha--not letting to click a photo of Mother Goddess from my part--No thanks or Puja given even after a healthy donation from my part--there and their attitude in their arrangement extremely materialistic & business oriented--Not looking "Devotional"- in that way!!--There was no salesperson at the Mandir book shop🤷Police acting as null💁 So the K.Kali Mandir administration should be made more Devotion oriented and respectful towards the public🤷💁🙏🕉️🌺
