Netaji Bhawan or Netaji Bhavan is a building maintained as a memorial and research center to the life of the Indian nationalist "Netaji" Subhas Chandra Bose in Kolkata. The façade of this museum looks like a traditional Bengali household with pillars, porticoes, and courtyards but once you enter the building you will be transported back into the days of the Indian Independence Movement. Some of the unique items at this museum include postage stamps, German military documents that have been translated into Hindi, and Azad Hind journals. Looking at all these instill a feeling of pride and respect for Netaji’s contribution to the Indian freedom movement. There is a library inside the museum called 'Freedom Library', and it is here that you will find an extensive collection of books penned by Sarat Chandra Bose. For someone interested in learning about the freedom movement of India, this library contains periodicals that document historical events that were a part of the movement.

It's such an enriching experience of memories of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. His life got reflected through photos, beds, handwritten letters, videos, audio, stories, clothes and more. You'll feel like Netaji is walking around you. I must say you should visit it at least once.

Takes you back in time. Goosebumps guaranteed. They have got contact-less sanitizer dispensers installed around the house to take safety measures against the virus. Security Guards guide you through the house for your better experience.

Place is very nice and if you have kids then please take them to this place so that they will know and learn about such legends. Every room don't have ACs, ventilation is good though. Carry water bottle along with you. No cafeteria within premises. Haven't seen any washroom or baby feeding room but I could be wrong. Spend some good time in reading the notes and if you read them all then it would easily take your half to complete this place tour. Would suggest to avoid summer time. Also people who are taking their vehicle please use pay and park and make sure to not enter in wrong direction in one way just outside netaji bhawan. Four wheelers might not find parking spot but 2 wheelers can get it. Its hourly basis parking 10rs for 2wheels.

After that, he traveled to Japan-occupied Southeast Asia by submarine. Organized Indian National Army, and fought against British Raj with the Imperial Japanese Army. Relics of Netaji's footprints are exhibited in the museum. And that footprint made me tremble.

Wish I could have visited this place earlier. As an Indian born in Independent India and growing up to tales of our freedom fighters used to give me goosebumps. But this man has always inspired me for his sheer love of the nation and focus to bring in Independence. Over the years I read a lot of book about him and the visit to the museum brought everything to a full circle. As you enter you encounter the vehicle which was used to flee from Kolkata when he was under house arrest. The ticket is minimal Rs 10/- and photography inside the museum is prohibited. Well I think this is a stupid move when a mobile phone is the most powerful tool of communication & can promote this museum to far away land where the you tube channel of the museum cannot reach due to lack of funds and promotion. A museum of Netaji should change with time and I hope the authorities can see what I am visualising from my vantage point. The museum is well maintained very neat and clean spread over 2 floors. There are no lift and you will have to climb the wooden stairs. The entire life of Netaji will be presented in front of your life. The first floor displays his and his brothers bed room and study room. The next floor has portraits and excerpts of his letter across his life. It also shows his escape route to Europe and back to Japan. One letter caught my attention where he writes his brother that probably they won’t meet again ! This journey across his lifecycle brought tears to my eyes and for a second I wished if it was possible to touch the feet of this legend by getting into a time machine. If you are in Kolkata and you love your country please pay homage this to this General without home we wouldn’t have got our freedom so easily..

The unforgettable, chilling emotion can only be found here once someone enters the building through the gates with that vintage car on the left flexing it's glamour and the other experience that one can only feel once they enter the building. The museum is well maintained very neat and clean spread over 2 floors. There are no lift and you will have to climb the wooden stairs. The entire life of Netaji will be presented in front of your life. The first floor displays his and his brothers bed room and study room. One letter caught my attention where he writes his brother that probably they won’t meet again! Relics of Bose's footprints are exhibited in the museum. After the Second World War, Mohandas K.Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru visited Netaji Bhawan. Recently, in 2007, Prime Minister of Japan Shinzō Abe visited the Netaji Bhawan. It is situated beside Elgin Road and in front of Forum Mall. The ticket is ₹10 for adults and ₹5 for children. Nearest metro station is Rabindra Sadan. Photography is strictly prohibited inside the museum premises. You must visit this place once in a lifetime while visiting Calcutta.

Must visit for all Indians especially Netaji fans. This is the Netaji's house in Kolkata where he lived and made the great escape to Europe to form INA. This is now a museum depicting the life of the great freedom fighter and has furniture and items he used in pristine condition. There is small entry fee however photography is not allowed inside. The place open everyday till 4:30 pm except Monday. Monday it's fully closed.

The Unforgettable, Chilling Emotion can only be found here once someone enters the building through the gates with that vintage car on the left flexing it's glamour and the other experience that one can only feel once they enter the building (I better not say that one, cause it needs to be felt). With a collection of tons of memories that The Great NETAJI SUBHASH CHANDRA BOSE has left behind and his unfathomable courage and deeds that also pushed INDIA towards its freedom is left behind and attached to each and every wall of this building. I would Strongly Suggest everyone reading my review to have a visit down there (except on Mondays, it remains closed)The ticket price is ₹10/head, Details of my travel route is down below. KOLKATA METRO-----RABINDRA SADAN STATION----GOT OUT OF GATE 3----WALKED PAST A HOSPITAL----TOOK RIGHT TO ELGIN ROAD---AND VOILA.

The house of The Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. It's a historical place . There is a big museum on Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose. In front of house , there is a library . You can buy books from here . Then there is a historical evidence, the car of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose , the old Audi car . Then you enter the house , and there is no permit to capture any photos. But what you see there you can't forget.

38/2, Elgin Road; Netaji's house known as Netaji Bhawan, to me it is one of the most exciting historical heritage building in India. Everyone should visit this heritage building. After reaching Rabindra Sadan metro you will have to walk for 5-10 mins to reach the place. From Sealdah or Howrah you can book taxi or board bus to reach the place. Ticket price 10 rupees per adult and 5 rupees per child. Monday closed. Thank you so much. You should visit the place.

This place is really great. It gives you a brief knowledge about netaji and his family and friends and also about his works to make India independent. Here in the first floor there are bedrooms of netaji and his family members and in the second floor there are a museum related to netaji. Entry fee is only 20 per adult, so you should visit this place if you ever come in Kolkata to know how great Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose was... But taking pictures inside of the house is strictly prohibited.

Netaji Bhawan in Kolkata was once the ancestral residence of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and this fact alone is reason enough for anyone traveling to Kolkata to visit the place. But this is not the only reason that can be attributed to this place being one of the well-known tourist spots of Kolkata. The house located on the Elgin Road of Kolkata was built in the year 1909 by Janakinath Bose, Netaji’s father. In the year 1961, the building was converted into a museum dedicated to the life and work of Netaji and it was done under the administration of the Netaji Research Bureau. The museum serves as the center for the bureau now and is being maintained by the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

This was like a pilgrimage. The ancestral house of Netaji. The visit of Kolkata is incomplete without seeing this temple of freedom. He has such a simple life. His room with bed has been kept intact alongside his mother's bed. What a fortunate mother to have such a great son. His declaration of freedom statement is displayed in the entry. Don't forget to read each and every word. There are two rooms of photo galleries taking you to the era of our freedom struggle. His footsteps are depicted so nicely that I could not resist taking a photograph. I don't know why the photography is prohibited. Today we enjoy the free India. You are forced to think why a man living with all the luxury suddenly puts his life at stake. Just to liberate his fellow citizens' souls.

The entrance to the home has a plaque that bears the name of J.N Bose who was Netaji's father. When you head towards the main portico you will be able to see a replica of the INA Memorial engraved with the motto' Ittefaq. Itmad. Kurbaani’.

The place is a lovely illustrated celebration of Freedom, Justice & Equality. Yes, the residence of Netali, brings back umpteen memories of those unseen days while the world was at war, India was striving hard to get rid of British tyranny... then, there descends an uncommonly courageous patriot, Netaji, who dreamt of India blessed with real emancipation...and was capable of achieving to a large extent.... Back to modern day museum, the residence is beautifully maintained...with the belongings of Netaji, you are bound to get the thrill of those unseen, buried yet golden old days.... Worth visiting..!!

This building was the ancestral family residence of the great revolutionary National leader Subhash Chandra Bose during the British colonial period. It is now a famous museum which houses his belongings, books, notes and mementos. The mysterious disappearance of Netaji has contributed to the folklore and legends surrounding his charismatic persona. This building was the scene of his great and daring escape from the house arrest, which took place before he started armed war against the mighty British empire after securing Japanese assistance during the second World War. This building contains many of the writings and personal items of the much revered firebrand visionary.
