Everything maintained very well. The only complaint I had was with the bath tub in my room. It was worn out and was been painted. When I added hot water to it the paint was leaving it’s flakes. It really turned me off with the brand ignoring this simple aspect of the room. Overall it was a great experience.

We had been there to have dinner. There was no plan and so we had no bookings. Could manage to get into Lebanese restaurant. Food was delicious. The best part was the quality behaviour and the service. Moreover, the ambience was excellent with lovely life instrumental musics. My better half and daughter were so happy.. The foyer and public places are splendid but the rooms are a little tired nowadays. The service is excellent. The food choices are better than most of the other hotels we stayed in but still mainly North Indian. Fresh fruit was available in the room but basic. In a country where fresh fruit is in abundance I would have liked some exotic fruit in the restaurant. The pool area had ample sunbeds.

My experience initially was quite bad. my family had made the room booking one month in advance and we had received continous communications welcoming us to the rooms and answering all our queries about checking in. When we arrived at the hotel we were shocked to know that our rooms were not ready despite all of the above. We were obviously upset and made to wait for quite a long time while it was being prepared. However after this the experience was sublime. On my business trip to Kolkata. I stayed here for a night. It takes an hour from the airport.Large property and quite old. Almost like a palace. Well maintained. Rooms are nice and of decent size. Linen and towels were fresh. Comfortable bed and pillows, had a good night sleep. Rooms on the right hand side have good sunlight basking into the room. Loved it. Had my morning tea with lot of sunlight. Buffet breakfast was good with attentive and courteous staff.

Decent enough experience being located at one of the prime locations in the city, near the Alipore Zoological Garden. Good enough rooms with decent infrastructure and above par common spaces. A tad bit expensive as compared to the overall offering. Good service and helpful staff, decent parking and security.

The hotel needs a renovation or makeover. It's well maintained but quite old now. The staff should be younger and energetic. In restaurants like Sonargaon, service is bad. Male staff is quite old for waiter services. Should be given some other role I feel.

Second trip to the hotel. First trip was overwhelming and raised the bar but recent trip indicated compromise on service quality. Good room with great location. Well organised rooms, beautiful swimming pool, well placed dining space etc. Walking distance from Kolkata zoo, easy access by road. Service may need to be taken back to the previous level when we used to say Taj is Taj.

Great experience, staff very helpful and committed. Service in the restaurants was sometimes a bit caothic , but food was on a high level. Especially at the Middle-eastern restaurant. Great structure also with lounge, café and terrace. Highly recommended.

Great location. Service was good, however, the hotel overall was not clean and was lacking in upkeep. The carpets in the main area are dirty with faded colors. The room floor looked like it isn't cleaned after every visit, the floor had liquid stains. The bathroom had dirty switches.

We went for dinner to Taj bengal for an occasion and we took a buffet of cal 27. There can't be any argument about their ambiance and service. The variety of food wasn't that big in the buffet and the food kind of was average compared to their standard and brand value. They also gave us a free cake for our special occasion.

The property is very beautiful and we'll maintained. The buffet had many delicious options and the staff was very polite and sweet. Vijay personally suggested us the menu and got a few dishes for us to try.. the dessert was a cherry on the cake .overall an amazing experience

Yesterday tried lunch at sonargaon restaurant, ordered for pulao ,mutton and fried fish . Pulao rice is old and smelling ,complained to chef , mutton was tasty but chunks were very hard to chew . Service was pathetic, trainees mainly attended our table, table water served in glass was dirty . 2 pax we paid 6.5 k . But not value for money ,disappointed with the management. Also tried brownie from pastry shop ,too hard ( may be due to old one ). Lobby Bathroom near sonargaon restaurant was untidy with no napkins . I think the managers are not taking their jobs seriously.

It’s an excellent place to stay in when visiting Kolkata. My top 3 things there are service, ambience and food! Everyone I encountered was friendly, professional and super helpful! The grounds, especially by the pool are lush and the lobby is thoughtfully decorated with whimsical art pieces. The two pieces of feedback I would offer would be to make it a 100% non-smoking property (there were some people smoking by the pool area which is irksome to others) and to update the rooms a bit more (they look a tad dated, especially the bathrooms). But overall a great stay! Would come back in a heart beat!

What can you expect, obviously the best. However, they need to keep pace with the modern hotels in terms of quality of rooms. Due to old construction, the rooms and bathrooms have the vintage look and feel. The age is showing....so please upgrade. Food quality and spread is good. The interior look of lobby and common areas is awesome. We enjoyed, but i stayed at JW Marriott also, which I think is a notch above.

Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch hosted by a friend. First time at this event. Started with a magician entertaining guests at their individual table. Accompanied by nostalgic oldies sung by a young lady, the food made to perfection made it a wonderful, enjoyable afternoon.

I had been to the Portico banquet for a seminar. So won't be able to comment on the stay experience. This hall is very good to accommdate 150 ppl. The food served was delectable.

A fantastic hotel in the centre of historic Kolkata. I have stayed there. The rooms are extremely clean, generous in size and have all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. The staffs are extremely friendly and helpful, a true delight for guests after a busy day of sight-seeing, to be greeted by the wonderful people working here. The breakfast included in our stay selection each morning was fantastic, with a wide range of western and local foods to choose from. This hotel is great value for money given all the points I raise above. Highly recommended whilst you visit Kolkata. Thank you again to all of the staffs.

My first stay at the famed Taj Bengal was a pristine experience. The check in/check out was smooth. The staff behaviour lives up to the 'Tajness' and sets a great example for the hospitality industry; really impressed. The room was not too big but comfortable enough and well equipped with all required amenities; the TV was not a smart TV but there were enough channels available to stay entertained. Bathroom was compact and accommodated a bath tub. The breakfast at Cal27 was good, and service impeccable. Full marks to the staff. Overall great stay, rate 9/10.

I have been here several times. This time around it was breakfast. The spread was below average for a hotel of this standard. The food served was either too well done almost burnt or hard as a brick. All I liked were the eggs and coffee. On previous occasions when I had been there for dinner the food was well prepared. Decor is good.

Taj makes you feel you have entered another world where you are valued. I had a room with the zoo view and I could see elephants from my room. The best service i have ever seen in any hotel. Amazing food, and world class pool.

Great place for meetings of all types. Service is even better. The rooms are well furnished with facilities for video conferencing too. The only drawback is the availability of plug points in the lounge area for using laptops and other electronic gadgets.

I couldn't click too many pictures which could have depicted the magnificent ambiance and decor that this place offeres, shall surely do that on my next visit.
