This only thing about this hotel is that is well located and you can use the little kitchen. After months traveling in India I can assure the price is not according to the facilities (honestly I just stayed for the friends I met there). The rooms are not similar to the photos, seems to be very old and someway dirty (ex. walls, floor, also kitchen...). They don't have the Backpackers culture: the staff don't offer you much information, even a good conversation. But the worst thing is that last day you get to know they don't allow you to leave your bags there for some time (they ask you to pay extra day). I wouldn't recommend this place sorry...

My money got stolen while my last night there. Location was nice but the hostel was okay. Even though the manager was nice, I didn't like the concept of mixed dorms because 1. It's not that safe for girls 2. They didn't provide locks for lockers. At night while sleeping, someone removed money from my purse. Next morning I had an early morning train so didn't notice but after reaching home I realised and called the manager, he said he can't do anything about it. That was unfair.

The rooms were extremely congested. The photos make the place look roomy, but each room is packed with beds. The common area is rather small as well. There weren't enough washrooms either. It's essentially a 2 1/2 bedroom apartment converted to house 20 odd people. It is also very hot during the day with no curtains in the windows. We ended up cancelling our booking!

The hostel is just a nightmare, I am usually very flexible but, to be honest this one is over the limit. dirty with bad bags, uncomfortable, shady , 2 toilet in the all property, I have been waiting 30 minutes to take a piee! Plus very uncomfortable bad, my back is broke, depressing common area, w only a small dirty balcony! I really don’t know how they get 4.1 on Google reviews, it is insane, must be fakes, more realistic in Hostel world and booking reviews! STAY AWAY FROM HERE!

Cleanliness was good, ventilation is issue in Non AC rooms. Better go for offline booking than online. AC room has attached bath. I would recommend it as budget option in prime location. Bring small locks for luggage locking as its not provided by property. Good for booking in Group of 6 AC rooms

Very congested. They have added more bunk beds than the room can accommodate. Bathroom not cleaned. They would switch on AC only from 10pm to 8am. After a lot of requests they turned it on. There was a single small fan at one side of the room. No place to hang washed clothes. So everyone would just hang it on the bunk beds. Now about a few Good things = Made new friends. Designated smoking area. Got a bed with bed sheet, a pillow with cover and a blanket. The people who took care were polite. Common cooking area. Water source available. Free WiFi facility.

The hostel looks like a shady lodge, not recommended for solo female travellers, rooms are poorly maintained, with very basic amenities. This is situated in old commercial building top floor 14th. Would not recommend it to anyone.

If you're coming in Kolkata for the first time, this is the best place for you. The hostel has facilities like hot water, superfast Wi-Fi, refrigerator, iron box, AC, Common room, attached bathroom, purifier, microwave oven, induction cooker etc. The staff behaviour is excellent. It's a 2bhk apartment in the 14th floor converted into a nice hostel in a very convenient place in Kolkatta. The place is really worth the price, the view from common area is amazing, they serve Complimentary Breakfast too. Many people who stay there will be for the visa purposes, since I heard it's very nearby. But there was a fair share of backpackers too when I was there. Overall, if you're in Kolkata, this is the best hostel option you have.

Better than the average but that’s really not saying much. By Indian standards? Excellent. By anyone else’s? Not so much. On the 14th floor of what looks like a high rise slum. This hostel was… alright. Unobjectionable. The beds were comfortable. It was relatively clean. Combined shower toilets. But as is often the case in India the price you are paying would get you a really nice hostel in many cities in Europe. Instead you’re left with a down at heel place that I would have been ecstatic about. If I’d paid half the price. This is still probably the place to stay in Kolkata, friendly staff and good location near restaurants and bars and near a metro,

I travelled to Kolkata for vacation at stayed at Bombay Backpackers. My stay there was only for a couple of nights. Although, they provided wonderful service. The food was delicious. The rooms were clean, not to mention the spick-and-span washrooms. Moreover, the metro station is just across the street, making the place accessible from other spots in the city. And in case you're wondering, yup, it's safe for women too!

So I stayed here for 4 days and realised this was best amongst whatever is available. Any hostel is a vibe with people in it I was lucky n very initiative to get a group we could have chai and cards with One amazing experience of my life Kolkata lacks the hostel culture so this is a good place Best location mostly as almost everything from here is walking distance

Stupid staff for nice location. Very arrogant, hostile and rude receptionist. Never going to stay in Bombay Backpackers Kolkata for such unfriendly and inhospitable people. Management should take serious about the illicit activities of Receptionist Sneha. Terrible!

Perfect Location on Russel Street, reasonable prices considering other options in the same area. Arrangement is '2x2' * 3 bunk beds in AC room. Sheets are changed daily. Free breakfast ( Fruits, Idli, Milk, Corn Flakes, Samosa) a/c & non a/c options available. Very friendly, helping and courteous staff. Restaurants, Public transport, Metro, Food Stalls, park Street, Bar, Wine Shop, Laundry, Fish Thali, Super Market all at shouting distance from here. Nice junction to meet solo backpackers... If planning a stay alone or with friends, Look no further....

Bathrooms were very untidy. There was no vibe at all. No TV or music. It's just a silent place which gives a hostel warden feeling. Too overpriced not worth it. Walls were broken

If you like hostels and are going for a day or two, then good place to stay in affordable range. Would not suggest if you are looking for a very good place to stay since it’s a little local.

This is the worst hostel I have ever been. First of all I went there and the host saw me and start a phone call without looking me in the eye. Not a very welcoming way to enter a new place. The rest of my stay I thought he was really rude and not friendly at all. Then it is really dirty, in the corners there are piles of dust and the beds have stains. Also the bathroom looks like it has never been cleaned. The only thing that is good is the central location and the people I met there were also very nice. But this was really not worth my money and I moved to an other hostel named City Central Hostel. I could really recommend this one, really clean and tidy and you pay a lower price.

Dormatory was good but very expensive regarding dormatory. For one bed you have to pay atleast one thousand.

So, I really liked the owners idea of converting a 3 bhk on the 14th floor of a building into a hostel. All rooms are mixed dorms and the hostel in the heart of the city. the location might seem a little confusing as it is a part of the building itself. just. Opposite the dhaba, the gate near a cake shop. The owner is a 'just check in and you do you' kinda person. Met some good people while relaxing in the common balcony which has a good sunrise view.

Located in city centre near park street. Everything is nearby. Rooms and bathroom was clean. The caretaker was friendly and helpful. If you are a solo traveller or travel in groups, you should definitely go there.

Last time in month of July. I had been here . They charged me 750 . two charge me 1000. For same room same bed.. they not mentioned in the time of booking how many beds will be in same room .. when I booked that time it is Rs 728 /- when reached they charged me ,1000. /- because they aware moving some other place is not possible and difficult. And also killing of time...

The lady of the hostel is so kind and helpfull. We booked a room with bathroom in the bedroom but because of working outside the building was this not possible as option we could choose between other rooms to sleep in. The hostel is friendly and clean. The Cosy terras and living room is well decorated and makes it more a house atmosphere. It was a nice and easy stay.

I had the worst experience. The receptionist was more interested in sleeping rather than addressing. I had reached early and asked him if I could get extra bed and I shall pay for the same. I could clearly see beds available. However , he refused to even let me in for a bed in a chilling weather since sleep was his priority. I chose to just leave and not even stay for the 2 days for which I had already paid. Disgusted by such hostels present in India.

The location and the view of the place is great for the price we are paying and the host were proactive in providing you with information. The entrance is a lil dingy so that might be a bad first impression but you get used to it. The facilities have scope to be improved and upgrade which could make this place amazing.

The place is not so managed now... After corona perhaps it hasn't able to revive properly.. Afterall a good place to stay at the centre location of the town...

It's like a nest perched high above Kolkata's most iconic area. Park Street is just round the corner. There are tens of exotic restaurants within 5 minutes. Metro station is walkable distance. Maidan, Victoria Memorial, Pricep Ghat and many other tourist attractions are nearby. The view from this place is just stunning. This itself makes Bombay Backpackers totally worth staying here. Plus the regular perks you get in a modern youth hostel like wifi, filtered water, cleanliness, are there as well. In terms of minuses there are few. Getting there may not be the smooothest experience. Mainly due to the relatively older building. Other minus points would be related to staying in bunk beds and common with all youth hostels and dorms. That's a trade-off between price and comfort. But you may also get to meet some interesting fellow travelers.

It was two days visit to Calcutta, for the purpose of my resident, I had booked Bombay backpackers, housed at 14th floor of kanchana towers landmark being Punjabi dhaba @ Russell Street. It was comfortable stay, Place was not only extra hygienic but also homely with all the basic amenities and common kitchen with every possible appliances, it gives a beautiful view of Maidan the heart Calcutta. ❤

Placed in the heart of the city close to park street around major attractions of the city. Also very connected to maidan metro station. Staff was friendly. Also provided breakfast. Dorm rooms available. Budget dorms for stay.

This hostel is within walking distance of almost everything. Nearest metro station is Maidan. The view is amazing since it is on the 14th floor. Breakfast is included in the price. It was either Puri Sabzi or Idli & Chai. Guests have access to kitchen to cook their own food. Filtered water is available. A decent place to stay for backpackers in Kolkata.

Well..I have been to each backpackers hostels in Kolkata...hence I can assure you this is the best. The ambience is very positive,the setup is comfortable,and to top it all the view from the 14th floor is just amazing. Highly recommend this place.
