It was an average experience at Golden Joy but overall the restaurant is fine but my recent experience is not good. Ordered: Crispy Fried Fish 5/5 Mixed Schezwan Noodles 4.5/5 Dry Chilli Pork 2/5 (It was cold and soggy and the fat of pork was loaded in it than the meat portions) It was weekend so the restaurant was crowded but the person dedicated for service and were not quite friendly. When we entered we were not even assigned a table, we had to find a empty table to get a seat. After ordering it took more than 30mins to serve the food it was long waiting time. I had better experience at the same place before.

Few days back we visited Golden Joy Restaurant which is located in Tangra which is known as China Town. The ambience was good. Comfortable seating arrangements. They have variety of dishes and the quality and quantity was really good compared to its price. They serve alcohol also. But we had to wait around 20-30mins after ordering the food.

This is a family restaurant,having a great place, great behavior of staffs, great service and great food. You'll find hard and soft drinks also. The dishes we ordered were so fresh and well cooked. Not very much spicy. Mouthwatering dishes are available here. Though the transportation is not so easy, but you'll find cabs and buses if you walk a little to the main road, like 5 minutes walking distance. But if possible, visit this restaurant just once. You'll love it.

Won't lie but I loved the restaurant overall. The quality of the food is really nice, infact the food is mouthwatering 😌 The service is also really good, we didn't need to wait too long for our order. Overall a good place with great food options. You'll find the place chill. Everything is good apart from the service. Before paying the bill, just check the bill properly. It's India not America and they're asking for tips. Folks, deny this Western culture in India.

One of the oldest and authentic Chinese restaurant in China town. Serves chinese food and drinks. We order chicken lung fung soup, prawn chips, chili garlic pepper chicken, golden fried prawns, chili chicken dry and chili pork dry. The starters were all good. Really loved the chili pork dry, it was different than what we normally eat. It is a must try if you love authentic chinese food. Service is very fast, the atmosphere can be little loud as we sat in the first floor because the place was over crowded during weekend. Overall it is a great experience.

A good place to be in china town. The main dish is batter fried golden prawn. Other dishes were average. The fried chicken was average. And the green sauce was awesome. The place was good but it was not well maintained. The waiters are not that active and slow. The toilet was dirty. A good place to visit but not regularly.

Golden joy has always been one of my most favourite restaurant in the china town area. This place serves best quality Chinese at a reasonable price comparing to the rest. Although, when they remain crowded their food quality differs a lot than the usual days. Quality taste differs from day to day. But I must say their starters are a lot better than their main course dishes. Main course needs a bit of improvement I felt. But the starters are too good. Service was a bit slow due to a lot of crowd. Staffs are courteous. Some of the highly recommended food are drums of heaven, mixed thai soup, prawn chips, mixed rice, mixed noodles, dry chili chicken, golden fried prawn and etc. A much recommended place indeed.

The ONLY Authentic Chinese Restaurant in entire Kolkata. The place is little inside of China Town, and the vibe of the area is dull, but trust me, just because of food people love to come to this place. Even we saw Raima sen and Munmun Sen here, which was jaw dropping moment for us 😅 So, in short, definitely go here, you won't get disappointed. The food is just amazing.

I visited Golden Joy after a long time, probably after a year or 2 but unfortunately their taste and service has degraded over time. Though I got a table quickly, the service was efficient. The waiter didn’t even know what he was serving and got confused only to come back with the same dish. The chicken coriander soup as well as chicken wonton soup was bland. The prawn chips were dripping oil and didn’t have the taste for which it was famous for. The chicken in oyster sauce(dry) was average too. The hunan chicken (gravy) was somewhat decent and so were the rice noodles and fried rice. I guess the red pepper fried chicken was prepared nicely and I regret ordering it at first. They forgot to give us drinking water as well and we had to literally walk to the waiter and ask us to give some water. I might have to think twice now to visit the place again.

One of the best restaurant in China Town. The ambience is nice and the quality of the food is great. The service seems to be on the slower side but the quantity served is huge. Ordered: *Thread Chicken *Chicken Fried Rice *Chicken Thai Fried Rice *Chicken Manchurian *Stir Fry Pepper Garlic Chicken Everything was made to perfection . The pricing is also reasonable. A must visit for every Chinese food lover.

The food is delicious and the price is also reasonable. They have an extremely wide variety of dishes and all of them are available. Even though they serve alcohol, it's quite family friendly atmosphere. Overall, I would say this is better than Big Boss or Beijing in terms of food quality any day. When I visited, it was a busy Sunday afternoon so the waiting time was a bit longer than I would have liked. But otherwise 10 on 10 experience. Definitely try their golden fried prawns. It's heavenly.

Before last weekend, I visited the Golden Joy restaurant after 10 years or so. Usually, whenever we are in China Town, we have a favorite place of our own, and I guess everyone does. However, this time, we wanted to visit Golden Joy, mainly because of the availability of Pork. The place has a valet parking which is probably the only restaurant in China Town that has this facility. The seating area has two sections - one is for family, and another for booze crowds mainly. Although we went for a family lunch, we could not get a table in the family section as it was full. The waiters took us to the other section. In this seating area, the only difference is that the interior is shabby, the seating areas were created haphazardly, the floor was not clean, and also the waiters who were manning the area seemed in punishment posting. It could have been a different deal if it was a get together party of friends or quick visit by office crowd, but certainly not suited for a family. The service was prompt. We ordered Wanton Soup, Golden Fried Prawns, Fried Chicken with Spring Onion, Mixed Hakka Chow, and Chili Pork. To take away for dinner, we ordered Mixed Chinese Fried Rice, and more Pork. The soup was average. It did not had any wow factor. Golden Fried Prawns were superb. The Prawns were fried to perfection so that it is simply buttery in texture. Fried Chicken with Spring Onion was average as well. Mixed Hakka Chow tasted good however strange to see quite thick noodles, mostly the type of which are served in road side. Mixed Chinese Fried Rice tasted good. The Chili Pork was very good. However, it did not had that distinct pork fat smell, may be because the pork chunks are coated in batter and then flash fried. The portion size of every dish is quite large. So, it is recommended that you order less and then order again if needed. I may go back to Golden Joy again, but if with family, I will not sit in the non-family section. If the management ramp up the decor and ambiance of that section, may be yes. Thumbs up for the taste, thumbs down for the ambiance.

This place doesn't need any introduction. Golden Joy is one of the best places for Chinese cuisine in Kolkata. As we were 9 of us, we had to wait 10 mins to get a table on a Sunday lunchtime. There is valet parking available so feel free to bring a 4 wheeler. Now, coming to food, we had Golden Joy Special soup, Golden fried prawn (8-10 pcs), Kiwi Milkshake, Mango milkshake, Chicken Lut Me (10 pcs), Prawn chips, Chicken Schezwan fried rice, Mixed fried rice, Mixed meifoon, Kung Pao fish (10-12 pcs), Pork Mapo (uncountable) and Hot Garlic chicken (10-12 pcs). The quantity of rice and meifoon was good, enough for 1 adult and a kid. However, we felt meifoon should have been more light. The soup was nice and filling. Golden fried prawn is always our favourite but I didn't understand why it was very oily this time. Chicken Lut Me was tasty. Both milkshakes were good, mango one is a must try. Prawn chips were also tasty and now coming to side dishes - Kung pao fish was light and you can have the gravy with Meifoon. Pork Mapo's quantity was enough for 2 adults and Hot Garlic Chicken was usual, nothing extraordinary. Lastly, Golden Joy's food quantity is awesome. This restaurant is value for money. You will not be dissatisfied. So, a must try for every Chinese lovers.

Visited here after 4 years. They have still maintained quality and quantity of food. The prices have gone up but that’s acceptable. They have wide range of delectable Chinese dishes to choose from. Chicken, fish, prawn and pork items are available as starters as well as main course..You can try there soups too as they are all freshly made and tastes amazing.. Do make prior reservations when you visit as it can get very crowded on the weekend and evenings. The ambience has an old world charm to it but not suitable for a romantic date.

I felt this place to be a bit overhyped to be honest. Nothing extraordinary in terms of food quality and also the wait time was pretty long. The prices were also a tad bit on the higher side compared to other famous Chinese restros. But the food quality was overall decent with sufficient quantity. The appetizers and drinks were decent too. We had As starters - 1. Threaded Chicken 2. Golden Fried Prawn As main course - 1. Mixed Fried Rice 2. Yam Mein 3. Chilli Pork 4. Hunan Fish 5. Blue Cooler 6. Pineapple Blossom As dessert - 1. Chocolate ice cream 2. Mango ice cream 3. Darshan Overall pretty decent but not worth the hype.

I enjoyed a good time and lunch with my wife here. The restaurant is completely family oriented. The service people are a bit arrogant in their behavior otherwise the food was good and delicious. Shout out to the gatekeeper and valet parking people. They were really humble and friendly. They deserve better.

Sunday lunch at Golden joy is a very busy affair. Packed seats. Overloaded people. Understaffed. So good food otherwise but on busy day taste was average. Everything fried was over oily. Prawn sizes were not upto the mark. The Cantonese gravy noodles was decent enough.

This was my very first visit to China Town and this place didn't disappoint me at all. Though Golden joy is pretty famous but for those planning to visit this place or China Town itself for the very first time, this well arranged spacious place is almost 10 minutes walk from China Town gate. And it's always good to come here with a large group as their portions are way too much for 2-3 people, even half/small portions serves 3-4 people, and might be expensive for small groups as well. Ordered: 1. Chef's special Barbeque chicken: Half plate contains 12-14 pieces. Fried chicken balls cooked in barbeque sauce. Chicken was soft and fresh. 2. Veg fried rice: best fried rice I've ever had. Be it veg or non veg fried rice, it doesn't really required any side dish as the rice itself suffices taste buds. 3. Singapore chicken: half plate contains 8-12 pieces of chicken cooked in mild spicy sauce. Nothing special to talk about.

A legendary restaurant which all the foodies are familiar with. It's spacious, service is quick and had very old school classic amlbience, nothing to complain about. We gravely underestimated ths portion sizes, they are huge. One dish can be easily shared between three individuals with good appetite. Do keep this in consideration while ordering. Our order consisted of mainly their classics: 1. Golden Friend Prawns- fresh large prawns in a thin crispy batter fried to perfection. It was a perfect with the breezer we ordered. 2. Chicken and Prawn Suimai- there was around 20 pieces of the sui mai. It was so tasty and filling, a must try. 3. Pork in Chilli Garlic sauce(most probably)- Again, the portion size was huge. Taste was good. 4. Mixed Hakka Noodles- Quantity is huge, taste was good too 5. Dry chilli Chicken- It tasted really good, not sweet at all like many restaurants make. Paired well with the noodles. Overall a good place to dine especially with family and large group of friends.

Hands down one of the best restaurants at Chinatown town. Been here with my family and they all just loved the place. Food is great and surprisingly cheap for the humongous portion provided. Just 2 plate of rice is more than enough for 4 heads. Ambience is nice and staffs are friendly. Valet parking is a good add-on and the parking space is huge. Has a seperate smoking zone for the smokers as well. Just too good. Do visit this place if possible.

Golden fried prawns, chilli pork and red pepper fish are a must try. Cantonese noodles, fried rice and garlic chicken were also very delicious. Try prawn chips with beer once you visit golden joy.

I used to love this place but today is below average. It was very crowded which is of course not their fault. It was a winter Sunday. However what didn't make sense was the cold food and the super slow service. Delay in responding to basics like water and cutlery. If golden prawns are your thing then maybe the cons will make sense to you but otherwise, not sure if I'd like to visit golden joy anytime soon.

This was a gem of a place indeed. But unfortunately during my recent visits I came to certain realisations. Everything has deteriorated massively, especially the service. Wait time for food has increased tremendously. Waiters have become extremely rude. Few items are cooked properly with authentic taste. The rest are bland. Our chicken went stale so very politely we called the waiter. His arrogance took us by surprise. He straight away said it is impossible & refused to hear our side. We got the wrong orders as well for starters. Hate to say but won't go back again.

Went for the first time last week and was waiting to taste the famous golden fried shrimp 🍤 and it was DELICIOUS 🤤🤤 big chunky thick pieces of shrimp coated with the perfectly spiced and crunchy outside. It was 💯💯. The noodles were good too. Huge quantity in one plate, would easily be sufficient for 2 average eaters. Just the alcohol price was too much 😞 Old monk was four times the market price... Maybe it was puja time that's why 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ambience is good for family. Basic but good sitting arrangements. Quite variety of options in both veg and non veg. We tried chicken, fish, duck, pork and it tastes okay. Though the starters tasted very similar and is bit oily. Momo, fried rice, noodles etc was good. You can go and try once if you like Chinese cuisine.

The food of Golden joy is always our favourite. Whenever we go, we always take a few set of constant dishes. We still love them. The quality is still maintained. Thai soup, golden fried prawn and garlic pepper fried chicken are always the starters. Main dishes are good as well. You need to finish with a chilled lemon soda.

Well, especially the starters and the main courses except the prawn chips. The prawn chips had the odour of raw prawns which according to me was not consumable at all.

The food was very good. We ordered a small manchow soup which was enough for the two of us, the soup tastes good and it contains lots of chicken and prawn,then we took half chilli Garlic Paper chicken, which was also more than enough for two, and the best half plate golden fried prawn,in half plate you will get 7 pieces. The size of the prawn was good the coating was very crispy and thin. For the main course we took mixed Rice noodles/maifun,it was also tasty.....

You must try their soups and golden fried 🍤🦐. The fist items were very good. According to the price the quantity was very good. You must visit there.
