As the name suggest Maritime meaning connected to sea so this museum display all the ship equipment like compass , Map, gas Light for indicating other ship and it also show case boat making process. Apart from the above it has a aquarium and a 4D theatre. Recommendation- You must try the 4D cinema ( the seats are in sync with the video clip so if you watch a roller coaster footage your seat will move as you are seating in areal roller coaster. 4D show start at 12:30PM Pros- parking space is available Ticket price (Adults). ENTRY. ₹10 Aquarium ₹30 4D show ₹60 Parking (2W) ₹5 And Half ticket for kids (aquarium ₹15 ,4D show ₹30)

This is one of the finest museum in Cuttack. A lot to learn about the history of Odisha Tribals, Environment, Machines and more. You can ideally spend 3-4 hours visiting this place, if you are keenly interested. Also, there is a canteen inside incase you are hungry. There is a wheelchair accessible entry and parking. You usually are allowed inside but you need to purchase tickets and then if you want to take any phones and cameras inside, you need to pay a bit extra. Rest, the visit would be worthwhile assured.

This is a museum about marine industry, boat sailing, zobra barrage mechanical engineering. Ticket system is applicable for different parts of the museum like Parking, Aquarium, 4D Movie , etc etc. Price is reasonable not so high. Well maintained museum, with Auditorium , Gardens, fountains, library, children activity hall, canteen, drinking water facility, toilets, children park etc.. U will never get bored here. Definitely u will enjoy here. Photography is allowed, but video recording is restricted in few parts. Good security system and well behaved staffs. So come here with ur nears and dears and enjoy a day in this museum. ☺️👍🏻🎸

A good museum all about naval trades, history and ships. But not much stuff to showcase about naval stuffs in the gallery. Aquarium is a must visit place to see various species of fishes. A mirror maze hall also there ,try to visit it. Also a 4D sfx hall also there. Beautiful park is worth time spend. One must book ticket according to the place to visit . A compulsory museum visit access to park and gallery is 20 rupees. 2 wheeler parking charge is 5 rupees. One can keep their belongings in the store room free of cost. Overall good place to time spend. Gallery should be upgraded with more stuffs about naval history.

Entry fee is RS 10 and then other charges like Rs 50 for aquarium, Rs 20 for mirror maze, Rs 40 for a 4dx movie. About 4km from cuttack 🚂 staion. Autos are readily available for Rs 20. Aquarium section has a variety of fishes and marine species. A small temple is also inside. Cafeteria is available for 🥨 snacks. Washrooms and 🚰 water filter are also available. The Odisha State Maritime Museum was inaugurated on 1st April, 2013 by Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha Shri Naveen Patnaik. The museum is one of its kind in the State. It spreads over a vast area of about 6.5 acres situated on the south bank of the river Mahanadi. This location, popularly known as Jobra Workshop was constructed in 1869 and has the unique distinction of being the only workshop, which catered to the irrigation requirement of three provinces of Bihar, Bengal and Odisha under the Bengal Presidency of British India. This workshop was mainly catering to the need of anicuts, dams, canals and most important inland water transport system. At that time the access to Calcutta from Cuttack was only through a journey on the river Mahanadi to the False Point near Paradeep and on sea up to Calcutta or from Chandabali to Calcutta.

This place is all time fresh. I visited place years back with as my school visit on behalf of the heritage club. After that i visited yesterday and everything was so fresh. One won't feel age bias on the basis of the 4K show or the mirramaze the aquarium or everything over there. I loved every little detail of that place. One must visit once if ever visited Cuttack.

It's a fun place for kids and equally good for youngsters and adults to hang out. Unlike usual boring museums, it's a place that provides lots of other means to spend time with family and there is something for everyone. Along with the maritime history of Odisha, it also has a beautiful aquarium, a mirror maze, a 4D movie hall and a well maintained park. There is a small cafeteria with limited snacks options and a small souvenir shop too. But the cleanliness and response of staff could be improved.

One of the greatest historical museum in odisha. Nice place to visit with family, has a small park attached to it. A Cafeteria is also available within the museum premises. An average 4D hall and a small aquarium is also available within the premises. In toto for ₹100 you can avail all of these. Staffs are friendly and they know what is presentation. And for an extra charge of ₹10 you can get a ticket for clicking pictures too. An sublime experience. This museum is situated near the Kobra Bridge square. Ample space is available for parking. NOTE : Avoid public toilet if you care for higiene and privacy. And keep your helmet ag your own risk. Note: 4D hall might be improved to international standard. Photographers are welcome here. Overall a good place to spend some quality time with friends, family, girl friend.

This place has a huge potential for being a great museum. All it needs is more fund to present the artifacts in a more attractive manner. It's one of its kind in the South East India. If networked with other parts of the country with ancient maritime culture, it can be a game changer for people interested in our culture of being a country of traders and explorers.

Situated on the banks of the Mahanadi River, this museum offers a unique and enriching experience for visitors of all ages. This was the first (and only, so far) maritime museum I visited in India. This used to be a boat repair yard during British times and after years of neglect, The Odisha Government made it into a maritime museum. It has the old workshop tools and machine intact (painted and maintained). The museum depicts the boat making practice in Odisha, flags used in navigation, some instruments and also house a small but good aquarium. There is also a 4D hall (there are timings for shows). We could also see quite a few human love-birds at the lawn area ;). It's CLOSED ON MONDAYS.

The Odisha State Maritime Museum is a wonderful place that has preserved the rich ancient Maritime culture and objects of Odisha. Located in the Silver City Cuttack, adjacent to the banks of River Mahanadi, it stands as a proof of Odisha's rich Maritime past. Before the place was turned into a museum, it earlier served as a Repair and Maintenance Workshop during the British Rule. As a Repair workshop, it's foundation stone was laid in the 1869. Gradually with course of time, the place lost it's identity. With the decision of Odisha govt to convert it into a museum, the place was finally turned into a museum which was thrown open to public. The museum is closed on every Monday. Entry for visitors is allowed from 10am to 5pm. The museum houses a lot of objects ranging from replica of coastal monuments, culture, old workshop's equipments, old motor vehicle, a cafeteria, Children's Park, a beautiful sprawling lawn, An aquarium, an 4DVFX Hall, Light and Sound Room. Entry fee for Aquarium is 30 rupees, 20 rupees for 4DVFX Hall, 10 rupees for each adult, while children below the age of 10 years are exempted from fee charges. The place has a cloak room where you can keep your luggage since luggage isn't allowed inside the museum. It has a well maintained parking place. The main source of attraction is the Mechanical workshop where you can find the equipments belonging to the Early British rule. The British rule era Truck which is still there. An old repair jetty is still there. The Aquarium is the most beautiful place after the above mentioned places. In the aquarium, you will have a glimpse of marine species from Amazon, Lake Tanganyika, Chilika , Bhitarkanika, Mahanadi and the Koi fish species from Japan. There is a Library, a Souvenir shop and an exhibition hall. Reaching out to this place is very easy as it is located around 5-6 I'm away from Cuttack Railway Station.

The Orissa State Maritime Museum, which has been set up at this Jobra Workshop, has 10 no 0f galleries along with its ancillary components, workshop as required in a modern museum. This location, which has a beginning around 1868, has the unique distinction of being the only workshop, which catered to the requirement of these provinces of Bihar, Bengal and Orissa under the Bengal Presidency of British India. It was set up by the these PWD department of British administration through the efforts of our Indian Engineer immediately after the great famine of 1866 in Orissa, known as “Naa Anka Durviksa”.

This is gem of a place. If you ever visit Cuttack then don’t forget to visit this place. You will see the maritime history of Odisha in a beautiful way. You must opt for the 4DSFX show you will experience awesomeness at just 60rs. You can or cant visit the aquarium as they dont have many variety of fishes. But place is managed perfectly. Neat and clean you won’t find a piece of plastic. Cloak room is there you can keep your bags and helmet there. A must visit ❤️

Marine stuffs are really good and I loved it. But I think government should look towards it and put more efforts cause it's a rare experience for people in the range of Cuttack, Bhubaneswar and close by regions. A little bit more care and enhancement will skyrocket the place. A worthy must visit (atleast once).

  • 4/5 sujit p. 1 year ago on Google
Very good experience with lots of memories. One must visit with family for a 2 or 3 hours vacation. I loved everything over there like museum part, aquarium, mirrormaze but disappointed with 4k video show. I was expecting a show related to maritime glory of our history but it displayed two, three cartoon short stories. Again, this show is very very risky for kids under 5 years of age and also for old age people. Because you are sitting on a movable seat with lots of jerk movements through out the show. The seat belts are broken, water spills on you rather spraying. My request is to aware people coming with kids or old age, of the risk involved in 4k show before buying ticket.

History has so muh to tell us if you are a keen listener and learner. It is very important to know our history!! As a kind i was very much intrigued by my history teacher. This mesuem allows us to know more about the Kalinga dynasty and how Cuttack became a major port. The trade in those days, how the boats were built and what were the machinery used in those days. We didn't get to visit the aquarium. The souviner shop was well stock, not sure about the pricing though. The children's park area is well maintained. We had the best time there. The display of items of those days interests us. Being a general lover of museum , we loved this place.

One of the great museums in Cuttack with 10+ galleries, aquarium,Garden and children's park. The galleries are well maintained and Informative. Recently one Indonesian gallery and Mirror maze opened. The garden is well maintained and Children's park is also there You can get a detailed idea about ancient kalingan port and odisha's old trading with various countries. A good place to visit with your children also. The new 4d theatre and mirror maze you something new and good in the museum. The entry fee is also genuine and affordable. A good place to hangout

  • 4/5 Akashi S. 8 months ago on Google
The book stall should have books on our ancient ports, overseas relations on culture, commerce etc .Similarly , the 4FX movie hall should play a small documentary on this maritime culture of Kalinga .
