Stay
away
from
this
tourist
trap!
My
daughter
and
I
spent
our
vacation
on
Kos
from
July
5
until
July
12.
On
Thursday
July
7,
I
fell
with
my
rental
scooter
in
the
city
of
Kos
and
I
sustained
injuries
at
both
knees
and
elbows
(see
attached
pictures).
I
was
brought
to
Kos
Medicare
by
a
Greek
couple,
since
I
was
dazed
and
nauseous
from
the
scare
and
the
pain.
At
the
Kos
medicare
centre
they
poured
Betadine
on
my
wounds
and
put
bandages
on
them.
They
had
hardly
cleaned
the
wounds.The
way
they
were
handling
my
injuries
raised
some
serious
concerns
with
me
and
I
started
to
wonder
whether
they
were
actually
real
doctors.
The
young
woman
that
bandaged
my
knees
for
sure
didn't
know
what
she
was
doing.
She
also
wore
no
gloves
and
had
long
polished
nails.
I
am
quite
sure
she
is
not
even
a
nurse,
let
alone
a
doctor.
On
my
request
I
received
a
tetanus
injection.
I
was
charged
50
euros
for
that.
As
soon
as
I
got
on
my
feet,
the
bandages
on
both
knees
fell
off
and
they
put
a
lot
of
extra
tape
on
it
to
make
it
stick.
It
looked
like
a
four
year
old
did
the
bandaging,
please
see
the
attached
pictures.
They
gave
me
a
prescription
for
antibiotics
and
sent
me
on
my
way
again.
They
told
me
to
come
back
the
next
day
to
have
the
wounds
cleaned
again
and
the
bandages
changed.
I
had
to
pay
€580
for
the
treatment,
which
had
taken
less
than
45
minutes
in
total.
(Later
I
realized
that
I
had
also
paid
upfront
for
the
next
day,
but
I
never
went
back.)
I
asked
the
lady
at
the
reception
about
the
150
euros
for
the
surgeon
on
the
invoice
and
she
answered
that
my
medical
insurance
would
not
pay
if
I
had
not
been
seen
by
a
surgeon.
She
told
me
the
young
woman
that
did
the
(poor)
bandaging
was
the
surgeon.
I
didn't
believe
her,
but
I
did
not
feel
well
enough
to
get
into
an
argument
about
the
invoice,
so
I
paid.
Dr.
Alexis
Saroukos,
who
signed
the
invoice,
turns
out
to
be
an
older
man
and
not
a
young
woman,
so
obviously
at
Kos
Medicare
they
are
lying
to
patients
and
taking
money
for
services
not
performed.
I
suspect
they
have
a
stack
of
forms
with
doctor
Saroukos'
stamp
and
signature
at
hand,
without
him
ever
seeing
one
single
patient.
That
same
night
the
bandages
came
half
off
and
the
wounds
looked
infected.
I
was
very
worried
and
the
next
day
I
went
to
another
doctor,
who
was
recommended
to
me.
This
doctor
told
me
the
wrong
material
was
used
for
my
type
of
wounds,
the
bandages
stuck
to
the
wounds
and
everything
was
infected.
To
cut
a
long
story
short,
this
real
doctor
treated
my
wounds
properly
and
thus
saved
our
vacation.
The
doctor
also
told
me
that
I
was
prescribed
the
wrong
antibiotics
by
Kos
Medicare,
which
could
have
given
me
trouble
because
of
my
skin
type
in
combination
with
the
sun.
This
real
doctor
charged
me
a
normal
fee,
even
on
Sunday,
when
the
doctor
had
me
coming
back
to
have
the
wounds
cleaned
and
bandaged
again
(after
48
hours).
I
looked
up
the
reviews
on
Kos
Medicare
and
discovered
I'm
by
far
not
the
only
tourist
that
was
scammed
by
Kos
Medicare.
When
I
got
home
I
filed
a
formal
complaint
at
the
Ärtztenkammer
on
Kos.
They
replied
they
would
investigate
the
matter.
