Hospital

😠 Horrific hospital, staff incredibly rude, stray cats roaming the hospital, no running water available to shower or brush teeth, our family member came out of the hospital with insect bites all over their body because there were no windows or doors. Absolutely despicable! People often mention hospital, doctor, staff, great, care, wait, people,

I had to write a review after reading the others on here. We had to visit whilst on holiday after my 11 year old managed to slice his foot open on the rocks in the sea leaving him needing stitches. On arrival I had no information other than to knock on the 'Emergency' door, poke my head in and speak to a doctor. The doctor was busy working on someone in a neck brace on a bed and after catching his attention he asked what was wrong then and told me to sit in the courtyard area and wait. He seemed a little irate and rude, but I ignored it and we sat and waited. He had 2 other serious injuries come in while we were waiting, plus another two 'walking wounded'. After a brief chat with a waiting paramedic it seems the triage is to make people wait in the courtyard, then come and ask what the problem is and deal with people based on urgency. Fair and reasonable, even if it isn't what I am used to in the UK. After about 45 minutes the doctor called for me to 'bring in the boy'. Once inside he was pleasant, patient and great with my son. He took the details, examined the injury and gave him a local anaesthetic and 4 stitches in the space of 20 minutes. He then wrote a prescription, gave detailed care instructions and went off to deal with the next patient. While we were inside the door was knocked at least 6 more times with other patients. There was one doctor, treating everyone. He had no respite, so I understand his earlier manner. In person he was polite, funny and had a great bedside manner. Sure there was some mess here and there, blood on the floor etc. But the bed was sanitised in front of us before they dealt with my son, all fresh instruments were unpacked from sterile wrappers and in fairness we would have probably waited for longer in the UK with the current issues that the NHS is facing. Plus it was free (except he prescription cost). Don't be put off, expect to have to wait if it's not too serious - it's not the UK, you have to adjust your expectations, but the care and treatment was excellent and ultimately that is the main thing.

Broke my leg in a motorcycle accident on Patmos. Clinic arranged passage on a ferry the next morning to Kos Hospital. Emergency surgery within an hour of getting there. Lots of metal to put my tibia and fibula back in my ankle. Stayed four days in the hospital. Very kind and gentle staff. Orthopedic doctor here says they did a great job. Six weeks ago now and ready to start rehab and walk again. My thanks for the best care I could have had. According to orthopedic doctor here, they saved my foot.

Before you go there, be WARNED. This place is horrific. Nurses don’t care about your mental condition when you’re injured. They don’t want to earn any trust by being honest with whatever they planned to do with you. Whenever you show your fear, they just laugh at you and gossip about you in Greek language to make you feel uncomfortable. I hope for the ones who get physically hurt they don’t end up in this TERRIBLE hospital. If you want some good care and be surrounded by professionals, please visit “KOS Medicine”. They treat you good.

It's better to just stay home and pray for the best. Dirty, blood and other things on the stretchers, no private space, I was next to other people and could see everything, unfriendly doctor and it seems like they don't know what they doing. I didn't expect German standards but it's unbelievable what you will see there... this is embarrassing for the island and to be honest if you are older you shouldn't go to this island. I got Released and they said I have no severe injury. I went to the doctor in Germany and had to undergo a emergency surgery...

When we arrived a horrific accident had just occurred with a lot of injured people so we had to wait a long time which was understandable. There wasn’t a clear waiting line for the ‘nonurgent’ patients at first which gave people the freedom to cut in line but once the chaos blew over a little they did fix this. The hospital itself wasn’t in great shape compared to what we’re used to in the Netherlands but I wouldn’t know what the norm is in Greece. Once it was my turn they took me seriously right away, even though as a 22 year old on a holiday everyone usually suspects you just had to much to drink. They took some blood and urine to test and administered some fluids to make me feel better and to prevent some things from getting worse. The docter made it very clear what he was doing and made me feel at ease, he was actually the one that made the whole experience as pleasant as it was. Once the diagnosis was made they prescribed me antibiotics which I was able to get the next day at a pharmacy. Very thankful he was able to help me!

a horrible hospital! we were on vacation on this island and unfortunately our 7 month old son fell ill. we brought him here urgently. the hospital is unsanitary, all the children are housed in the same room, there is no privacy and the nurses and doctors almost destroyed my son's health by injecting him with doses of medicine and antibiotics at a 7 month old baby!!!! the completely crazy doctor put pressure on us to hit hard on the back of our son! following my emergency arrival in france, my son was hospitalized urgently and everything that was done to him in Kos destroyed his health! Please avoid this hospital if you care about your health! This establishment needs to be shut down urgently.

The worst hospital ever to exist the stuff is in lala land they are rude and very sarcastic the place is discusting not clean at all it is centuries back they don’t have any doctors and if you are a tourist you got to think twice going to this hospital if something happens during your vacation it supposed to be the island of Hippocrates the father of medicine even he should probably feel embarrassed for this hospital

I broke my foot. I checked into Kos Hospital. In and out 60 minutes. Friendly staff, although upon entry a female doctor shouts to me across the car park ‘WHATS WRONG?’. Dont expect the same etiquette you would in your local, high tech, newly refurbished hospital at home. If I had life threatening injuries I wouldnt feel great coming here, but don’t see the shabby wallpaper as a lack of qualification on the doctors part. I wasn’t charged for my X-Ray and my politeness was recieved well. Thanks for the help to all at Kos hospital.

My girlfriend had an accident and we had to go to the hospital. They treated her wounds, two of then needed sewing. They also did x-rays. They were so professional and friendly, everybody. And now a few weeks later there are almost no scars after the treatment. Thank you so much for helping us.

Never been so petrified in all of my life coming here. Disgusting is not the word. Staff where horrible, rude and very unprofessional. Went for my sisters wedding and split my head open and the doctor was in the hospital smoking!! Went straight to A and E as soon as I went home. Will never ever ever go abroad again as this experience have put me off for life. Just so thankful it was me and not 1 of my children.... the photo attached is the customer toilets. Something off " the wrong turn"

Coming from a local, all I have to say is that going to this hospital feels like a gamble. There's a chance that you get treated properly (like 20% of the time), a chance that you get sent to Rhodes because they lack the proper staff and equipment to treat you (a good 35%), a chance that they screw up and make it worse (that's a solid 30%) and if you're very unlucky there's a chance that they don't have the time to do any of the above, so you just have to kinda cope with it (15%). But hey, you know what they say, most gamblers quit right before they make it big. So go ahead and break a bone or two, what's the worst that can happen?

I really liked how I was treated. May be this was winter and not many people. But it was quick. Doctor did rapid test on COVID which was negative. Then did examinations and prescribed medication. Very well organised hospital.

Nightmare... worse hospital I ever been. I tried for months to call and ask for some of my personal information that they had to give me. Nothing.. They were pretending to not understand me, hanging up the phone. My greek friends also called them to translate for me and ask... Nothing. I had to call the police to solved the problem that I was struggling for months. Thank you. Very rude and useless..

Almost no wait and looked after by two charming and efficient young doctors. Thank you. Able to get the prescribed antibiotic from the pharmacy (also friendly staff) on the corner next to the hospital for the princely sum of €1.80. What more could you want? In Switzerland, I would probably have waited a couple of hours to see a doctor and the antibiotic would have cost a lot more.

They saved my life.I had a bad accident during my vacations, fallen from a horse. Indeed the building is really old and the instruments very old fashioned. Despite this all the staff was totally caregiving and professional. They immediately made me CT, RX and all the needed checks to ensure my back and my spine were ok. I had 4broken ribs with unbelievable pains. But the doctors and the nurses supported me in great way. The recovery path had been really hard but I will never be thankful enogh. The doctor in the emergency room is very good and human and speaks also Italian very well.

Coming here, after reading reviews I was a little scared. But my experience was great, I had to wait for about an hour, which was completely fine, because there were a lot of patients. Then a very nice doctor took perfect care of me and I was happily leaving.
