Last time the room was not so clean. Fortunately after so many years I feel glad to have a clean room in Grand Renai. I didn't expect superb interiors at least it's cleaner now. I stayed for 4D3N during Raya 2022. I had a very pleasant breakfast even though the food was the same every morning throughout the stay. Even the dinner was good and served nicely.Not to mention the price was cheaper for hotel standards. Well done u guys. Just a little comment about the toilet at the restaurant level 1.. please clean it and repair the leaking on the siling wall. Maybe they need to refurbish the toilet to make it look classy up to hotel standards.

4 stars hotel, 5 stars breakfast. Having a bland breakfast the next day at another hotel in the state below, it reminded me of how good the breakfast was in Grand Renai. My particular favourite were the Pancakes and Waffles. Cooked to perfection- it is scrumptious to the bites and delectable to be eaten even when it's warmed down. Having cooked Pancakes and Waffles before, I suppose the secret lies in its' ingredients. Nevertheless, I ought to say that it's the best Pancake and Waffles that I've eaten in my entire life, even better than those overly-rated and overpriced bakeries that's directly specialised in them. The omelette is great too! I'd say that it's quite rare to find the perfect omelette in which the egg is solid on the outside but wet on the interior. All in all, the breakfast experience was great. There's a lot of selections and definitely, they're all well-cooked, even my family agrees so. Please, give our regards to the chefs. Thank you.

Interior of hotel especially lobby area looks great like 4 star hotel bt the outside view looks like 2-3 star only. Perhaps itz time to refurbish / repaint the exterior. Hallway to the rooms should be refurbished too. Some parts of wallpaper peeling inside room n at the hallway. Shower has no warm water at all! Front desk staff n PIC fr event hall were friendly, helpful n accommodative with some last min requests. 2nd time having event in their ballroom - still the same.. Lightings can be brighter. Overall ok la n there were lots of functions/events when i was there last weekend. 👍😊

Its good. The room we stayed in was amazing and beautiful. The toilet was spot on. The food was good and you have many choices. The pool was soo beautiful and lovely all and all its a worth of your time and money. 10/10

Stayed here for 4 days for business but got extended to 5 days because my flight got delayed. Pros (in no particular order): i/ Bath. This is it. The only reason I chose this hotel was because it came equipped with a bath. That's it. Everything else is secondary. ii/ Billion shopping mall beside hotel - In case you forgot some very specific toiletries or you just want to eat maggi in your room - the mall with have you covered. There's an ATM (Bank Rakyat) inside the mall but it can be a bit difficult to find. If you get lost finding it, ask around. iii/ Friendly staff - both at the counter as well as the cleaning staff. They were very helpful and many times informed me to just give them a call if I need anything. iv/ Nice Lounge - very spacious lounge for you to wait for your ride or your food to arrive as you skimp on the hotel breakfast and dinner. They display some watercolour/acrylic paintings by the local artists for you to admire and purchase. They are genuinely nicely done but I'm too poor to buy one. v/ Nice room - very nice room, you get what you pay. Quiet. Spacious. Comfortable. Large bed, comfy pillows. Comes equip with a desk which I use to do work and a flatscreen TV which I don't care. Did I mention that the room has a BATH? vi/ Fast Wifi - wicked fast Wifi. I downloaded a video game I purchased while settling in the room when I arrived. Needless to say, I was able to play said video game right after I finished putting my stuff away. Cons (in no particular order): i/ Old-ish hotel - The hotel has aged quite a bit and you see some degree of wear and tear - most obviously was the wallpaper. I don't find this much of an issue, but as you can see other reviewers hunting for these defects and uploading the evidence for it. ii/ Not-so-pretty sights - The location itself is in the middle of town, there's not much sights to see other than houses, traffic and a school in front of the cafe so you can watch the teachers coming in late for work as you eat breakfast. For those who want a picture perfect room with a picture perfect view to rake those instagram likes - this might not be the hotel for you. But seriously though, if that's the case, just grab a ride and go to the beach so you can go snitch at couples or something. iii/ Traffic is horrible - full stop. During peak hours, you would be considered lucky to get a ride - so either leave early or leave later. iv/ No white light in your room - this might be a con for some people but it was a pro for me. I loved the yellow lights but be warned, there are no fluorescent/pendafluor/white lights in the room. With the exception of the bathroom and the entrance to your room, all the lighting is yellow table lamps. That's right, table lamps. There is no overhead lighting. v/ Cold, cold temperatures - you can't increase the temperature above 21'C even if you remove the keycard from the socket. It will still be cold. Either layer up or get an extra blanket from reception. Other things which I am neutral about: i/ Breakfast - was okay. Traditional continental breakfast. Has your standard omelette stand, bread stand, conflakes stand, fruit stand, etc ii/ Gym and swimming pool - wasn't able to utilize both of them due to time constraints but just be noted that these utilities are available. iii/ Room comes with water heater, iron, ironing board, some hangers, a locked safe, some teabags and sugar for late night gossiping and teaspilling, plenty of sockets for electrical appliances. iv/ There is no 13th floor - so you can't play ghost hunting. I am not kidding. I just find this comical, that's all. Booking an extra night from the counter is actually more expensive than booking via booking.com or whatever service you are using but at least you could probably stay in the same room. Apparently, while talking to some of the locals, the hotel was actually called The Grand Renaissance, but after something happened, it got changed to The Grand Renai hotel - owned by a biscuit factory company (TM).

Went for dim sum buffet. I called beforehand to book but was told I could walk in. Luckily went early so got a table. Not much selection of steamed dim sum maybe because the cart is empty most of the time. Food finished quite fast and it took long to be replenished. The steamed dim sum almost always not available and have to wait very long more than half an hour and even then there is no guarantee that you will get it. Food taste is acceptable and place is clean. Place is noisy and chaotic. Kids crying out loud. Infants crawling on the floor. Not recommended if you want to have a chill dim sum breakfast. The floor staffs did their best but i think their management have a lot to buck up.

Despite the age of the place, it still looks modern and well kept, clean and instagrammable The rooms are comfortable, good pressure of hot and cold shower. Wished i could stay longer to use the pool and sauna

The room booking thru Agoda,deluxe twin ( 2 queen beds ) rm200+ really good deal. Inside have bathtub,separate shower,fridge etc,city front view.8th floor got swimming pool which is good for family who brings children. Breakfast at 1st floor,u don't wanna miss it. They got varieties of foods from Kelantan signature akok,roti titab,nasi dagang,nasi kerabu,lompat tikam,laksam etc,also western Breakfast. Else like ns goreng,bihun,mini pau,mee,laksa,donut,muffin,cereals,pancakes,waffle,bubur nasi etc.

Nice great hotel with good breakfast, comfortable and friendly staffs serving you like a VVIP. The price is reasonable for your stay. Near to the KB Mall, and variety local food nearby the hotel. The hotel has ballroom for booking if you want to organize any event, cones with fitness center, adult and kid swimming pool. Enjoy the stay here.

Their western bfast buffet is to die for , d selections r endless and u could stay there for hours to go through each dishes served. D rooms r very spacious , a bit dated but very clean. All their staffs r very cheerful and always ready to assist. Their swimming pool r big and deep enough and d water is clear and clean. Its located beside a billion shopping mall.

Rooms are comfortable but could use a good clean up, the furniture is quite old and the smell is musky. Staff are poorly trained especially receptionists, bellhops on the other hand are more then a dime, and friendly aswell. Food is delcious with good variety. Swiimming pool and gym offer wonderful services. Do come with your family for a better heartwarming experience.

Very great breakfast buffet where you can find local and international food. The room was clean. I was told it's newly renovated. The pool was nice too, just to crowded with other visitors. You cant find splendid view from the hotel as it is located in the city but the location is convenience if you want an accomodation that closes to stores (7E & Watson are near) and restaurants.

The only hotel had vacant rooms at 4am. Place is well kept and rooms were clean. The toilet seat was old. But other than that it was comfortable. Breakfast was good had a lot of choices and tasted good.

My room was spacious even normal room. Staff, customer oriented. Ask them anything they will try to help you. Lounge was amazing. Food big portion. Breakfast they serve local food + normal breakfast. Laksam, akok in hotel! Amazing. AC in the room too cold. Even off the AC still need blanket too sleep

Comfy beds, and next to a small shopping mall. Easy to get food and only a few minutes walk from hotel to any nearest restaurant. Great swimming pool, but it is pretty deep for young kids (they have kiddie pool too).

The rooms are run down. However, the service is 4 stars. Parking facility is shared with the mall and can be bit confusing if you are not familiar with the place. If you are lucky, you can park right outside the hotel public carpark and that is convenient. Overall, my experience staying there is just average.

I had lunch w/ family at lobby lounge, everything was perfect but the food was not that good. We've ordered western food and unfortunately the food taste like a normal western food that you can find outside. Very disappointed with the food. But overall the service from staff and ambience was good. I hope you guys can improve the quality of the taste of your food. Please make it memorable to us. Thank you

Hotel was ok, I booked a newly renovated room so it was fine although the Aircon was way too cold. But the buffet breakfast was wonderful with a lot of special east coast local delicacies like nasi dagang, akok, roti titab and kachang pool. The staff there Naim was the best, helping and recommending to us what to try. He made the difference so my family and I will go again for sure even though Aircon too cold for my son!

A beautiful and attractive hotel. The cafe also provides a variety of tasty & delicious dishes. Located in a good location in the center of Kota Bharu city. Very Recommended.

Hotel of one of the tallest building in KB. Good and warm ambient. You felt welcome when you arrived. Staffs are friendly and helpful.

Worth your penny, it offered scrumptious varieties of breakfast buffet. Kids can enjoy movies as it offered youtube. Staff are very attentive. The pool is so-so. I will always consider this hotel in my top list.

Very clean, privacy/quite place to stay. Big and nice room c/w 2 chairs and table in my room ( 1604 ) but for my grandchild room ( 1602 ) come with no 2 Chairs and table. • Need more improvement at reception Speed up the check in and check out process • no disposable shaver provide. OVERALL VERY SATISFIED.

Pool was close, very disappointed... my children were expecting it... breakfast was good but egg were very slow... the receptionist was rude... really dont understand, u are the frontface of the hotel, be proud n humble atleast... scary carpark, quite small... the baby cot is old n smelly... too many things to tell, just be there at u own risk lah... its old, thats all...

Went there with family. Nice varieties of breakfast cuisines, enjoyed the nasi kerabu to the bits. Their services were superb; i ordered food via foodpanda, and their staff personally brought my food to my room. The receptionists were also very polite; but the housekeeping staff was a bit.. Rude? My mom left her phone in her room, but luckily i was at the receptionist when the roomkeeping staff called the lobby informing about my mom's phone. So the receptionist asked me to wait there, which of course i did. Then i called my parents phone (i wasnt sure who left the phone at that time - whether mom or dad), and the roomkeeping staff answered. He told me i left the phone in the room, then i said, ya, saya tgh tgu dekat lobby. Then he said, 'oh, jadi saya la kena bawak turun ni?'.. I was like... I could actually go up if the receptionist didnt ask me to wait. Maybe he was offended by my respond. Adoiii hahahaha. But nevermind, that's only a titbit they need to improve. The room was super spacious, but the lighting was too dim, i would suggest them to change the lighting, since majority of hotels now have installed brighter lighting. Annnnddddd. Please change the mattress too. It was too old it sinks in the middle🤣🤣🤣 Overall, if i am to be in Kota Bharu again, the grand renai would be my preferred stayplace

To me, it is the best place to stay. Room was spacious. Food was delicious and tremendous. Easy access. Friendly staffs. But I only stay there for business purposes but overall, still the pleasant place to stay

Formerly Renaissance Hotel, the Grand Renai front desk staffs are efficient and welcoming whilst the bell boy and room service delivery boy are friendly. The room standard are equitable to the room rates, clean and comfortable. Room service food are good.

Its a quarantine hotel at the moment. So its home for 14 days. Gonna rate it again after 14 days... Its been 10 days now. The reason for the 5 stars is because of the food and service.

Grand Renai, we believe, was formerly Renaissance - and it is generally believed to be the best hotel available in KB by the locals. From our single night’s stay we have no complaints to offer. The price is reasonable, and despite it being a very old hotel, the rooms are very spacious,clean, and facilities are in good condition. Breakfast is more ambitious in variety than delicious. The hotel is located across two pharmacies, which is very useful. For those who are staying for longer, however, it is useful to note that the hotel has a policy where it does not refresh the complimentary mineral water bottles. When I asked for more, the receptionist informed me there is a cap of four. I don’t know if this is for each night, or for each guest - but having controlled access to drinking water in your room is an important factor to consider. You can easily buy more mineral water in the neighbouring mall but it is an added inconvenience. Finally, you are expected to park in the same parking lot as the mall, which is unclear from the beginning, requiring you to be a little lost at first. Good for purposeful stays, certainly not for the pleasure of enjoying a hotel in itself. One observation I would make is that the lighting of the entire place - from the parking, the lobby and to the room - is rather poor. You are in varying hues of yellow or blackness throughout your stay. Otherwise, staff are responsive and it’s a decent enough place for a stopover.

They dont care for Covid19 SOP. no gloves in dining, f&b staff just scoop cerial jar without gloves. Otherwise good & acceptable. No sanitizer in gym. GYM is 1st grade. Love the large room. Matress and pillow super comfy. Oh the calamansi at the lamb stew counter is rotten. Parking is spooky though free

Went here for its ramadhan buffet.. Vast amount of food. Crowded even on weekdays. Rm79 per adult, kids below 12 eat for free and for that price , its a steal deal ! Must Go and book early . Surau at Level 6. Valet Parking only rm 10 per entry. Its either street parking or at basement.

Very disappointed of a Reception staff names Nina. Very rude!!! I was request late check out when check in to the hotel. And they didnt't update the system and the next day my door room is lock. So when I check at the reception politely, Nina is yelling at me. I was really Shock!!!!

A very pretty hotel, the hotel is in a very good place. The place is cosy and the breakfast food is delicious. Children are happy because there is a clean and large swimming pool. The most important thing is that the price and the guest service are all good. Overall is the very good . Later i come back 😍

Water pressure bad, room booking was messed up. Old interior, need refurbishment. Room service was 3hr late, f&b manager was kind enough to waive our bills. Breakfast lack variety, too common. Need to improve...valet over charging by per parking....should have been per day....

Good experience as reception was very friendly. Breakfast was great mixture of local and western. Illy coffee is my favorite. Overall was good. But i would suggest to be more warmth and smilling more towards greetings of guest.

More misses than hits. Hits 1) food taste great 2) room are spacious. Misses are 1) hotel still under construction. 2) at night the lobby entrance blocked by tourist bus parking. Drive to basement parking and waited at the basement lobby for the lift. Amazingly the lift only reach at level L than went up again. After 5 minute or so, we decided to use the stairs to level L only to find out the staff are controlling the lift due to so call heavy human traffic for an event. No notice were placed. When approached the staff who is controlling the lift lobby, a guy, without remorsed or any word of sorry give all kind of reason. Only then he call his colleague to stop controlling the lift. 3) when check out time, the receptionist attitude was so cold. Hopefully the management take serious issues such as room quality and service quality. No used if a few only provided good service but others doesn't. Overall experience disappointed. More disappointed due to service than construction.

Pros Amazing food (especially the room service), clean rooms, location wise is goo.5mins drive to Pasar Siti Khadijah(about RM6-8 Grab). They changed the TV to way better version. Most of the staffs are very welcoming. Third time being here, and will come again for sure. Cons Rooms a bit outdated. But it’s okay. There’s some renovations being made. Breakfast team was not really attentive and a bit disorganised, my daughter and I being refused to sit at the table near the restaurant reception area. Twice. No reservation signs were put on those tables and the tables inside were full and not cleaned yet/not sure still have occupants. Yet, the reception lady said “duduk dale deh” and I said “table penuh dah”. We were left with the high tables with barstools and not suitable for baby chair. The third time, my husband came and we insisted to sit at the table available which the one I wanted to earlier. This issue can be easily solved when the reception outside can communicate to the people inside to clean the tables faster of just allow us to sit at the only available table at that moment. We moved inside when there’s table available. Did I mention some of the staffs don’t really care to wear the masks properly? I hope they are more sensitive about these matters.

Overall service was good. Makesure you have your breakfast early in the morning because a variety and popular of kelantanese foods are serve in this hotel. It was delicious food serve here.

Booked the hotel via Agoda on 14/09/2022 for 3pax inclusive breakfast for the trip on 16/09/2022. When reached the hotel, was informed that the hotel only received instruction from Agoda for 2 person inclusive breakfast instead of 3 person inclusive breakfast. Staff Cik Farah is very helpful and she believed that with the amount paid I should get what I claimed but she unable to do anything from the system and had seek assistance from her duty manager En Hafizal (sorry did not really get his name). He request his staff Cik Farah to call Agoda onmy behalf and at the same time checked in for us as my mum was very tired as we reached Kota Bahru around 7:30pm. He informed me that he will give us the complimentary bed if Agoda did not fulfilled their offer but unable to give complimentary on the breakfast. Able to spoke to Agoda customer service Ms Natasha and claimed that she will do the checking as the offered in the Agoda site was offered by 3rd party and not Agoda and claimed will returned call to the hotel and myself within an hour. Fast forward to next morning, either the hotel or me received any call from Ms Natasha or the so called the 3rd party, but I am lucky as the front desk officer aware of my situation and he clarified with that morning duty manager Puan Wani. Puan Wani, instruct her staff to inform the restaurant to allow us to have a brekkie and assured me that they will liase this matter with reservation department and asked me not to worry much about this matter. I really appreciate what have this hotel staffs had done and really disappointed with Agoda Custorm Service Ms Natasha for not keeping her promise. Thank you so much to Ms Farah, En Hafiza an Puan Wani for your help. Definitely will stay in this hotel again if there is a chance.
