Pondicherry's very own restaurant. I have been dining here for more than 40 years! In earlier days, Aristo and Indian Coffee House would be on top of the list in almost all tourist guides. Nowadays, influenced by money, most guides show different places. But trust my word, the quality of food is best at Aristo. Go and eat and you wont have any regrets. Better prefer the restaurant downstairs and not the roof garden. You will find more experienced staff in the ground floor restaurant.

Worst experience ever faced in history. Grade of Aristo fading away. Poor service. Making delay and wait for more than 45 mins and saying briyani not available..

This restaurant is an historic restaurant of Pondicherry. I remember eating there in 1986 with delicious items on the rooftop. Their experience is expected to be large but unfortunately their experience was not used properly and lost during these years. Their cuisine has changed and is ok. I took very classical South Indian food:3 boneless chicken 65 and 4 mutton biryani for the whole and one coffee with 2 ice cream. Waiters are doing good job but they lack of space in the restaurant.Tables are too small for a family restauration for four( no space on tables to put the food and even my feet does not fit inside the table (see photos). Biryani was ok but chicken 65 was not the reel chicken 65. Chicken were dipped in a sort of crunchy sauce then cooked with oil. Reel chicken 65 are normally mixed with a masala ( and I think with some curd and put on rest for many hours in the fridge)that enters the flesh of the chicken. It is of course much harder to cook therefore because it takes time. So the owner should improve the served items and should make more space for tables.

A very old restaurant in Pondicherry, mutton masala, wheat parota and tutifruity icecream are the best. Biriyani is okaish, fish finger is also good but malai tikka was bad, very tiny pieces and dry and no flavour at all.

Had specially visited this restaurant for the biriyani but it was depressing! The rooftop restaurant has a good ambience though it is situated on a busy road. I sincerely think they can do better if they remodel the place. Therefore Location- 5/5 Ambience-3/5 Food- 2.5/5 Staff- 4/5 Overall experience- 2.5/5

Been eating at this restuarant since my childhood. Nothing beats their flavourful chicken biriyani, fish fingers, and parotta chicken curry. Must try - highly recommend.

Veg Pulao was bland and tasteless. Waiter did not clear the food plates and dishes before serving tea and coffee. Did not provide sweet aniseed and toothpicks while presenting the bill. Expected to dine at the top floor garden setup restaurant but was informed it is still closed since Pandemic.

We came here to eat mutton biryani. They told Mandi will be good in that menu card ....we too ordered & wait to fill the hungry stomach..once , the biriyani came to us there is some disgusting smell. Then we found it was a side dish (Raw tomato & chilli juice) for that mutton biryani. I don't know who are those people liking these kind of disgusting side dishes ! For Non - Veg... And comming to the biriyani taste..there nothing in that...Totally disappointed! Only rice, cashew, & some mutton pieces & some decorations.

Food was great. One thing to inspect. My order was taken by an old waiter, but bill was produced by someone else. When I gave tips to the old man, he looks scared. I guess the other guys are snatching it from him. Management - please look into this matter

Now a days romba Matta service pandranga, I ordered Ceylon parotta at 1.10 pm but received around 2.40 pm and they forgot to keep gravy or they might intentionally didn't keep. Last time was even worse they don't have menu items placed in hopsticks and I have to argue to replace the order for more than half n hour. Aristo is so peculiar now a days and management and service is not good as before.

Aristo has lost its shine. Today visited the restaurant for lunch along with friends. Quality and taste of Aristo is no more, especially their biryani. With regrets uploading this review.

Old rating I would give 5/5 ..... present rating can be of 3 due to drastic changes in the taste. The iconic biryani taste has extremely changed and no more the older version exist.

Pathetic service. More patience required for heavy waiting time. Despite less customer crowded and many staff in place, improper coordination led to more wait time.approx 1 hr. Coming to food, Mutton Biryani not good neither tasted as before.₹250. quantity serves 1 onion raitha, brinjal , sweet each 1 spoon measure. Mutton Ceylon parotta, more onions very less mutton pieces.. no sides provided for this 200₹ Chicken Ceylon parotta --- decent chicken pieces, tasted good. But same no sides provided ₹160 Over all customer service pathetic, food average. Not worth to visit again.

The best Mutton Biriyani I tasted in recent times. Less spicy (even kids will love it) and more flavors. Fish finger is too good (not the pasha fish). Wheat and maida parotta are delicious. The iconic aristo hotel is back :-)

We ordered mutton and chicken gravy today... it was not good at all. The meat was not cooked wel and the curry was horrible. I didn't expected this from aristo. I expected a better dishes and taste after the renewal.😑

Reminding of old memories, they still preseve the taste and quality of the dishes it used to be. Not a top notch looking restaurant, but it still carries the glory, look and feel of a 80s, 90s "hotel". So I advise visitors stick to your dining in the ground floor, to experience this. You don't have to worry about stained table cloths there, as they have only neatly and compactly laid tables and chairs. Some of my recommendations here - I love their biryanis - won't be too spicy but tasty. Parottas are very good - Will be fluffy, soft and big. Butter chicken - Doesn't taste like how u expect in hotels, but it will be light on your tummy with a lovely, simple taste. Chicken pepper soup - You wouldn't have tested this else where. Will be awesome. Chicken fried rice (Indian style) - Again you wouldn't have tasted this else where. Fish 99 - Boneless fried fish with a strong curry flavor

Food is very delicious (mutton biriyani, chicken noodles...) . The take away service is quick. But the restaurant is dark and not cosy at all... The owner could make an effort to renovate ! It has not changed for many years now
