There are about five things that one simply must see when in Krakow, and St. Mary's is probably the most important of all of them, and the most magnificent. It is a church unlike any other in western Christendom because of its western, Gothic, architecture and eastern, orthodox-like, richly colorful interior. There is a small fee to view the church and another fee if you wish to take photos inside, both are around $2-$3. The most unique thing about the church is the bugle played from the taller tower every hour on the hour, if you hang out in the square enough you'll get to know it well. It is possible to ascend the tower...for a small fee, and if you do it at 5 min prior to the top of the hour you can be right there when the bugler plays his melody...and it is AWESOME!!!

This church is pretty different from other European churches. It is really colourful inside and the alter piece is really something else. You could go in for free to take a peek ("for prayer only") but I recommend buying the tickets to enter and walk around. We didn't go up the tower since it was an additional charge. At night in the summer you should look up at the towers! You'll be surprised to see bats flying around at high speed. If you listen carefully you can hear them squeak too.

A truly breathtaking church. The design inside is just wow. Remember to look up, the ceiling is amazing. I think this was the church that John Paul II was at. It's busy but you can get some quiet spots. Located in Old Town Square so it's easy to find. Absolute a must see

It's a very beautiful church with all the walls painted which is unusual for a european church. If you want to walk around you have to pay 10 zloty pp. But if you want to just pray it is free. Therefore I suggest to go in the front and look at everything from a distance instead of paying the 10 zloty pp

Very beautiful cathedral in Krakow. According the legend the two towers of the cathedral are built by two brothers. One of them killed the other so he can make his tower higher. There are two entrances - one in front for people who want to prey and side entrance for tourists. Tickets are sold in a nearby building. It's not allowed to make pictures inside, at least from the prayers side.

A beautiful church, there was not any wait for tickets which you buy from across the basilica on the right side which the visitor entrance is also on the right side of the Basilica Plac Mariacki, not at the front, which is only for people who want to pray. I only gave four stars because the tower is closed through the winter until April which was disappointing. They could do it on a day-to-day basis, depending on the weather rather than a blanket close.

Notification of the visit is not required and tickets are not limited. We do not have an online booking system. St. Mary’s Church is open to individual visitors and tourist groups every day when no Mass is being conducted. Half of the church is open to tourists, including the presbytery and its main altar. Admission to this part of the Basilica is based on admission tickets.

A very beautiful place, perhaps the main symbol of Krakow. Tourists can visit free of charge at certain times when there are no church propers.

Beautiful church that also has free entry but a small fee to climb the tower. Definitely worth a visit but even if you don’t make it inside you can still experience the trumpeter every hour from the four sides of the tower.

The Basilique Sainte-Marie in Krakow is a Gothic masterpiece known for its stunning interior and the famous wooden altarpiece carved by Veit Stoss. Located on Rynek Główny, this church captivates visitors with its intricate stained glass windows, vaulted ceilings, and unique architecture. The hourly bugle call from the taller of the two towers adds a touch of tradition. The basilica is a testament to Krakow's rich history and is a must-visit for those exploring the cultural and religious heritage of the city.

A perfect example of Catholic Baroque architecture, this magnificent building is an incredible must-see in Krakow. You can't help but admire the exquisite details and carvings. And don't forget to listen to the trumpet played from the bell tower at 8:00 PM, which is special here.

Spectacular, simply a beautiful St. Mary's Basilica, located in the heart of old town Krakow. No photo can describe what you will see with your own eyes, inside or outside, especially all those tiny details. 👍🏻🇵🇱⛪

Beautiful church and a main landmark of Krakow. Every hour you will hear the bugle being played from the steeple; a tune which will always bring back memories of this beautiful city. You can peep into the church for free ("for prayers only") but the entry is inexpensive (approx €2.50 per person) and is worth it (surely, if you have to choose between this and the Wawel cathedral, choose this one without a shadow of a doubt).

Just unbelievable! It's design and beauty is eye soothing! Each an every part of the church is full of history & details. The weather was warm outside, the moment I entered the church, it looked like a completely different weather, so calm & cool. I just closed the eyes for few minutes, it felt so divine that one can not deny the presence of a positive energy. I say it's a must visit in Krakow & do spend an hour or so, inside the church, as it feels amazing!

HERMOSA! One of the nicest cathedrals I have been to. Do not go during prayer time however! I would go on a weekday rather than a Sunday unless you intend to join the mass. Which you shouldn’t if you’re a tourist!

Huge beautiful Basilica at one of the most famous Rynek in this world! When I got to inside, it took my breath away. I understood why so many people want to see it. Ticket is 15 Złoty to see around inside, and if you want to go to tower (I didn’t go this time) it would be 20 złoty for ticket. Staff will give you a paper of easy explanation in many languages.

Review for St. Mary's Basilica, Kraków: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ In a city as historically rich and architecturally stunning as Kraków, selecting one emblematic icon is a challenge. Yet, St. Mary's Basilica, standing tall in the old town, undoubtedly contends for that title. From its awe-inspiring façade to the mesmerizing hourly trumpet call, the Basilica captures both the heart and the imagination. Every photograph of this landmark tells a story, but being there, feeling its grandeur firsthand, is an experience that no image can truly encapsulate. And when you hear the trumpet's melody, don't forget to give a friendly wave to the dedicated trumpeter up high; it's a tradition that adds charm to the ambiance. In a way, the Basilica's timelessness and ability to inspire resonate with my mission as an international remote personal trainer and life coach. Just as the Basilica stands as a testament to Kraków's enduring beauty, I aim to guide individuals towards their lasting potential, ensuring they too can stand tall amidst life's challenges. When you cherish timeless beauty, whether it's in architecture or personal growth, the journey becomes unforgettable. 🏰🎺🌍💪🏼.

Kraków’s iconic church is a must see part of a visit to the Rynek. The inside is stunning, a riot of colour and decoration in a building of sizeable proportions that simply has to be seen. Opening hours vary quite considerably, so you need to check the notice on the door to the ticket office to see what they are on the day you visit. (Note that the entrance on the square is for private worshippers only - tourists need to go round to the right, where the ticket office is opposite the tourist entrance in a separate building).

An extremely good visit even though paid tickets required if not there for personal worship. Work being done on the Altar but did not detract from the atmosphere within. The stain glass windows are stunning and the interior decor and architecture is something to behold.

The church is beautiful every time you see it. Great during sunset for pics. Very cool to listen to trumpeter when he plays every hour, stops and waves to the crowd below. Make sure to wave back it's an old tradition. Cool to see thousands of people wave back. The church is under construction (saw it 20+ years ago and it was under construction as well) but beautiful inside. Respect the people inside by not being loud and taking pics.

What has this church not seen? Raid of the Mongols and the Middle Ages and numerous sieges of the city, 2 world wars. To become as he is now, he had to go through many rebuildings and other changes. The church grew and changed just like the people around. Now the church looks great. Inside, the atmosphere is simply mesmerizing. Incredible ... The entrance is expensive, even very 15 zl You can climb the tower, but only at a certain time and day.

(Translated by Google) The church is actually pretty. Only the biggest attraction - the altar of Wit Stwosz in renovation and a covered net, which is not available at the checkout, and the entrance is as much as PLN 10, which makes a lot of money for the whole family. The lack of information about the renovation is a trick. And the basilica of St. Peter in Rome available to the public for free .... (Original) Kościół w zasadzie ładny. The basilica is beautiful, no doubts. If you are in Kraków, you have to visit it. I do not understand how is it not possible to pay the tickets by card. But there is an ATM nearby. My question is, why, in the tourist center in the opposite side of the church, is it not possoble to use a card? I am sure lot of people would appreciate that.

The church is typically available for worship without paying an entry fee via the main entrance. Tourists are asked to use a side entrance, however, and not visit during services. Tickets are purchased in a separate building across from the tourist entrance. The two church towers are also open seasonally to tourists, but require separate tickets. The Bugle Tower is open from March to December (weather dependent, ticket required) to groups of 10 people max every 30mins from Tue-Sat 09:10-17:30, Sun 13:10-17:30; Nov, Dec, March open Tue-Sat 09:10-11:30, 13:10-17:30; admission 15/10zł, no kids under 7.

St. Mary's Basilica in Krakow Visited in 27/9/2019 St. Mary's Basilica is a brick a Brick Gothic church adjacent to the Main Market Square. It consists of two towers. Throughout the year, on every hour, a trumpet signal, called the Hejnał mariacki, is played from the top of the taller of Saint Mary's two towers. Although there are many tourists in the market square, not many line the street to enjoy the performance.

The most beautiful church I have ever seen. I have visited it multiple time and every time it is a breathtaking esperience. It is a triumph to the craftsmanship. No photos can bring you the experience of seeing this magnificent construction with your own eyes. Colorful, reachly decorated walls and altar done purely from wood. It seems like some parts are done from metal, so detailed they are but it is not. Only wood!!! Amazing.

Lovely exterior, but definitely go inside. No spoilers but it’s absolutely worth the time. Also, go to the top during a time slot that includes the transition from one hour to another, you’ll get to hear the trumpets live and up close.

St. Mary's Basilica in Krakow is one of the greatest church’s I have ever seen in my whole life. The basilica, which is one of the landmarks of Krakow, became also a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1978. The architectural design is stunning! The interior design is also very spectacular. Around the church there are also bunch of coffee shops and restaurants where you can enjoy a coffee/tea with a breathtaking view to the Basilica.

(Hejnał Mariacki: The bugle call of St.Mary)가 있으니 시간맞춰 보시는 걸 추천드립니다.

I’ve seen a lot of churches but this one is definitely worth visiting. The ceiling and decorations are beautiful. The tickets are pretty cheap and can be bought across the side entrance. You can go in for free through the main entrance but you aren’t able to walk around and can only go in as far as a couple of rows. Make sure to have something to cover your shoulders otherwise you are not allowed in the church.

Beautiful Church that's worth visiting. However, during my weekend trip I tried to go to confession but I got yelled out of the confessional by the priest for not speaking Polish.. such a shame. If you DO NOT speak Polish I do not recommend you go to confession at this Church. Just stop by admire the art and architecture and say a little prayer to Jesus in the tabernacle.

This church is simply stunning, must see from the inside. The amount of detail is amazing! I've seen hundreds of churches and cathedrals around Europe, but this is one of my favorites.

The square in front of the Basilica is the perfect ending point if you're doing a walking tour around the cute streets of the old town of Krakow. I recommend that you also go inside the Basilica, the reduced ticket cost 8 złoty per person (currently €1.70). It is a really beautiful Gothic church with elements of Baroque at some points. It is photogenic both on the inside, as the ceiling is dark blue and well embellished, and on the outside, as the difference in the height (there's a legend realted to that) of the towers makes it of course more attractive for architecture fans.

This cathedral is another must visit place in Krakow. From the outside it is a beautiful gothic building but nothing that will blow your mind. It is inside where the magic happens. It is one of the most, if not the most, decorated interior of a cathedral I've ever seen. The attention to detail, intricate carvings and paintings and just sheer amount of decorations is simply mind blowing.

Magnificent church and a great example of Polish Gothic architecture. The interior is beautiful, the highlight for me being the sumptuous altar-piece created by the German Master Carver, Viet Stoss, and taking 12 years to create in Linden Wood. It's worthwhile buying a seperate ticket for the tower. After climbing the 271 steps to the top, you're rewarded with a great view of the main town square (Rynek Glowny) and can really appreciate it's size. It's the largest medieval market square in Europe.

Beautiful church full of beautiful icons and art. Regardless of your religion, I would consider it a must-see. The detail and artistry is otherworldly. You have to go around the right side in the alley, across the way to buy your tickets for 15 zt. Once you do, you can cross back over and enter. Every detail from the glass windows to the ceiling to the floors are beautiful. Definitely take the time to go inside. The outside does not do it justice.

If you're looking for extravaganze and art and architecture (& of course devout faith if religious) this is a must visit. Its a 'wow' place. Personally, it's too much for me, I'm not sure that faith, prayer, belief, requires such a showing of wealth , but its breathtaking and from a historical interest, amazing. There's much to be read about the alter and its return to the church after being taken by the Germans during the war. Very small entrance fee of about £1.60, ticket purchased across from the church. So extremely good value.

Beautiful church with tonnes of history, The largest decorative alter in Europe is dedicated to St. Mary with a huge tableau that has 9ft figures of biblical characters. On the walls of the main chapel there are loads of different ornate paintings that display stories and events. Around the basilica there are around 13 alters to different saints and religious figures from around Krakow. The tickets are inexpensive at only 8 Zloty and has plenty of different language options for information about the church!

Simply stunning! Situated in a corner of the main square - the ticket office is across from the visitor entrance. Architecture is beautiful along with the ornate painting.

Very unique and beautiful gothic architecture. Normally gothic churches don't have much color but this one is full of color. You can get in free for some parts. For the ticket office it is in another building on the right side, and the gate for tourists is on the right side.

Words fail me on how to describe the inside of this Basilica. It is so beautiful! The outside is also great and adds so much to the square but the inside is spectacular. It is definitely worth paying the entry fee. You can find the ticket office directly across from the visitor entrance. No food and drink but you are allowed take photos (no flash). If you are bringing in your suitcases they don't mind. Its really worth seeing.

It's both a tourist and non-tourist place, also - you can visit the tower. Check out the Bugle Tower location for that. And don't go via the main entrance - the tourist entrance (payed) is on the right of the entrance for the believers.

One of the most breathtaking churches I've been in throughout the world, a must see when visiting Krakow. The tickets are very reasonably priced and can be purchased in the shop to the right of the church itself.

The interior of this church is just incredible. Mass is said regularly. There is wheelchair access. The organ is well worth hearing, and many of the main masses are accompanied.

The Basilica is located in the very center of the city. It is very captivating and expresses itself a lot. Is one of the symbols of the city. and attracts many tourists, due to the fact that it is located in the center and that many people take photos next to it. At the entrance to the basilica it was written that visitors are prohibited and that only believers who want to pray can enter, so we did not enter and that is what I did not like.
