Excellent place to visit once you are in Krakow to know about the heritage and history. They still keeping the old monuments captured during the kingdom ruled by many kings. Excellent art works and collections. Great to see the places where the kings stayed. Well English speaking guide helps us a lot to understand it clearly

Wonderful cathedral that is linked to Pope John Paul II. It's nearby the castle so you can combine the two. Tickets need to be bought from the little office. Photos are not really permitted. Remember to look up. Its a great ceiling

Definitely worth the visit although it is yet another ticket to pay for while visiting the castle area. Pictures are not allowed inside the actual cathedral but you can take them up the bell tower and down in the crypt. We didn’t have too long inside as we entered late and it was closing at 4.30 pm but it was still enough to get a good feel of the place.

Pay for each area you wish to gain entry. Untouched grandness. We visited the state rooms. Stunning paintings and tapestries from 1500s. Great gift shops also.

Officially no photo and video especially at the entrance where the tombs are and you have to pay to get in, cover up a bit, and of course mask on. Amazed with the amount of people inside-seemed no one counting. The church itself is not spacious, consists of king tombs mostly, chapels, and climbing to get to view point pass by a big church bell.

Must see in Krakow! Book an electonic Audio Guide to get all the details about its rich history. The kings tombs are particularly impressive.

Is somehow so much bigger on the inside. I shan’t review an old cathedral, but this is a must visit if you’re in Krakow! Just a note on accessiblity- towards the top of the bell tower (which takes many many stairs), it gets really narrow, steep and cramped. If you have mobility issues I wouldn’t attempt this part of the cathedral- the crypts below are much more exciting and easier to access (although they do still have stairs) 😁

Ticket 20zlt. Gives access to crypts, cathedral and bell tower. Worth the money and not overly crowded. Recommend. Parking in street below, to pay during the day except on sundays free. Not wheelchair friendly.

Beautiful Gothic Cathedral, the existing structure dating back to 14th Century. As the building was expanded over time it's come to reflect a number of architectural styles, not just Gothic. There are styles of Romanesque, Renaissance, Baroque & Neoclassical to be seen here. If you climb up the Bell Tower, you can see across to Rynek Square and St Mary's Basilica.

I love Krakow! Especially this royal square. Unsurpassed architectural elements. I advise you to climb the stairs and take photos inside the courtyard... I also advise you to stop in the middle of the square and listen to street musicians... Cool location - the children were also interested...

Wawel Cathedral is part of the Wawel Palace complex, but requires a separate ticket to visit than the Palace. The cathedral is stunning and worth a visit. The crypts of the royals are in the main cathedral and down below in St. Leonard's Crypt. Access to the lower level is by stairs, but has support handrails. You can also climb up to the bell tower. The stairs are narrow and high, which is difficult for the elderly and those with limited mobility.

Located in the Wawel palace premises, but has a separate entry fee. The cathedral is beautiful. You can even access the crypt area downstairs and climb up the bell tower.

Really interesting cathedral and crypt to pay respects and learn of the history of the former kings and queens of Poland. The bell tower gives a great view of the old city.

A marvellously stunning cathedral, one of the (if not) the most charming I have ever seen. Inside the building one can have a great time exploring its treasures.

A real discovery for me was this castle and the stories related to it. Our group was very lucky to have a guide who was a very erudite and well-educated lady. This magnificent architectural monument of the late Middle Ages is the pride of Poland, which gives us a good idea of the "golden age" of the country's history and its role in the cultural and social development of Europe.

Thoroughly enjoyed visiting this cathedral. Always find pleasure in seeing the skill and artwork that goes into cathedral building and decoration, and there is plenty to look at. The climb to the top of the bell tower was also good fun, with great views from the top. Worth a look at the royal tombs too.

Wow! What an amazing visit to the cathedral today. Well worth a visit. We managed to get free tickets to 3 different areas of the grounds which was amazing. We paid and got some more tickets for the more restricted areas and again it was incredible. Amazing views of the city, stunning architecture and lovely staff. We loved it. Originally only looking to explore for an hour or so, we ended up staying for nearly 4 hours. A must visit when in Krakow

Wawel Cathedral Krakow: Historical Gem A visit to Wawel Cathedral in Krakow is an absolute must. Perched on top Wawel Hill, this historical marvel seamlessly weaves together Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architecture. The cathedral unfolds a rich tapestry of history, housing Royal Tombs and captivating chapels that offer a unique glimpse into Poland's past. The panoramic view from Wawel Hill and the cathedral courtyard complete the immersive experience. For history, art, and architecture enthusiasts, Wawel Cathedral is an unmissable gem in the heart of Krakow.

This is an amazing set of buildings, built on a hill and overlooking the river on one side and the city on another. The weather was being kind for once and blue skies made the photos come out even more beautiful.

(Translated by Google) I love this place. I've been there countless times. The heart of Poland beats there. Every time I cross the threshold of the Cathedral and then the royal tombs, I get goosebumps. As if I were crossing the invisible boundaries between other realities. I have the impression of my own smallness when hundreds of years of Polish history and cultural heritage somehow collapse on my shoulders. Maybe I'm exaggerating a bit with the description, but that's how I see it. After all, I will not describe the monuments. When we were on vacation, the Sigismund Chapel was also open. You just don't want to leave the Chapel or the Cathedral. Of course, I have my favorite places, but it would be too much to write about. And then there are also undergrounds and graves. Impressions for the whole day guaranteed. You must come here, but not for a quick half an hour. Then it is a desecration and a waste of time. From this year on, there are no free entries to the Cathedral. And good. Besides, due to the state of the epidemic, it was much more relaxed in the Cathedral. Best to visit if you want to avoid the crowds, from Monday to Wednesday. Also, don't forget about the Archdiocese Museum and Zygmunt. It really can't be "done" in half an hour. (Original) Uwielbiam to miejsce. Byłam w niej niezliczoną ilość razy. Tam bije serce Polski. No a potem jeszcze podziemia i groby. Wrażenia na cały dzień zapewnione. Obowiązkowo musicie tu zajrzeć, ale nie na szybkie pół godziny. Wtedy jest to profanacja i strata czasu. Od tego roku nie ma bezpłatnych wejść do Katedry. I dobrze.

One of the most significant cultural sites in Europe (if not the planet). The coronation and burial site for many Polish kings and queens The nominal entry fee is so cheap it’s practically free - and they even have discounted tickets available. The entrance to the Bell of Zygmunt is here (included in the entrance fee). The official policy is no photos, so politeness and discretion are in order.

This was a huge fourteenth century building that seemed to be the equivalent to Westminster Abbey - tomb of royalty and VIPs and a seat of power in its own right. Unfortunately we couldn’t take photos inside but some of the side chapels were amazing, particularly the one painted in the fourteenth century that almost seemed like a 19th century Arts and Crafts offering. There was lots of religious stuff and we pretty much skimmed through the Treasury. The Royal Tombs were quite amazing, very well maintained/restored and a variety of styles including stone, metal and possibly painted wood but all ornate. There was also a memorial to Katyn, where the Soviets massacred 25,000 Polish officers and intellectuals in 1940. Again, no photos though. The final visit was to the cathedral bells. These were up a series of incredibly steep and narrow steps and there were quite a few of them on various levels of the staircases. They were all massive and quite ridiculous weights too! Despite being largely closed we’d spent over 5 hours in the castle complex so that was pretty good going.

Stunning cathedral with underground crypts of many important polish personalities. We didn't get the audio guide but I'm slightly regretting it now. The whole area around the cathedral and the castle is extremely picturesque and one simply has to take a walk around the buildings. On the down side, the ticket to the cathedral doesn't grand you entry to the WC, for which you have to pay.

Really impressive, not only by where it is situated, but the interior is superb and the views from the bell tower stunning. Don't forget to go up the bell tower and then down into the tomb of royals, after you spent time admitting the chapel itself. There is a bit of the history of Poland told throughout showing just how involved they have been throughout history, invaded by all, fought in every way... Well worthwhile taking a little bit of time.

  • 5/5 Tyler W. 1 year ago on Google
Such a terrific destination. We weren't able to go a few years back and it was on the top of our to-do list. You have to buy tickets separate from the other castle ticket stands, but it's well worth it for the crypts, bell towers, and more. Definitely spring for the audio tour!

A must visit for anyone in Krakow. Surprising number of tombs in the cathedral. The walk up to the bell tower could be a bit claustrophobic, but it's totally worth it. There's a nice café on site.

Nice place but the exhibitions are not too appealing... The kids liked the armory, and the dragon den (though it was only 3 minutes walk in the cave, and the dragon is actually outdoors in the public area). The royal gardens are almost the size of a large home garden, and very disappointing.

The cathedral is really interesting from inside and outside. There’s a very diverse parts inside, which makes visit even more interesting. You can buy a tickets in building at front of an entrance to cathedral. I recommend to get an audioguide, the tour is interesting and short enough to not bore you, but it’s better to check headphones before, not all of them working properly

  • 4/5 Doug G. 1 year ago on Google
Very interesting, lots to see. You can get an audio tour which works automatically as you wander. The trip up the Bell Tower is fun. Some of the info on the audio tour can go on a bit depending on your knowledge of the time & names but if skips forward if you move on. Its a pretty big place, it was packed when I visited but it was a public holiday. Worth visiting, if you can book in advance then I'd recommend.

Absolutely breath taking inside. Looks amazing outside. But when you going in and see it. Wow . Been to a few churches/cathedrals/ basilica round Europe. But this one blew us away. Amazing art work. A must visit. Sadly couldn't go up tower as only open during the summer. Just another reason to have come back this amazing city

  • 5/5 Arizona J. 1 year ago on Google
Great! Ticket purchase was extremely confusing! Don't have to buy ahead of time, but you have to buy a separate ticket for all different parts of the castle making it the opposite of user friendly.

  • 3/5 Beth K. 1 year ago on Google
We went here for a guided tour of the castle that we bought online. Were there some interesting things to see? Yes. Did I feel like my life was slipping away from me? Also, yes. While the tour saved us money by combining multiple parts of the castle so we did not have to pay different entrance fees, the tour felt like the longest two hours of my life and I was very pleased when it was finally over. I'd recommend popping into a couple of individual exhibitions on your own, without a guide so you can see things at your own pace. Equally, not every exhibition is worth it: I'd skip the sculptures for example.

Wawel Cathedral is an awe-inspiring historical monument, exuding rich heritage and beauty. Its intricate architecture, stunning interiors, and remarkable artefacts provide a deep insight into Poland’s past. The climb to the top offers breathtaking views of Krakow. An essential visit for any traveller to the city.

Must see while in Krakow. Plenty of places to relax on the grounds complete with comfy beach chairs. The history alone is enthralling and though we didn’t see the dragon, walking down the tower stairs to the Danube was a highlight!

  • 5/5 Kat 9 months ago on Google
Nice cathedral, but you have to buy another separate ticket to get in. Still, I would recommend coming here. No photos allowed in the cathedral, but in the crypt and bell tower, photos are allowed. Definitely go to the bell tower though, you can get a view of the city quite well.

  • 5/5 The Simple T. 1 year ago on Google
The cathedral is more than most. Rent the audio guide (you’ll need to either leave and ID or 100 PLN as a deposit) and it will take you on a personal guided tour through the cathedral and from the bell tower to the basement. That alone was just as much worth the cathedral admission fee. Take your time and take it in. The cathedral ticket also provides you access to the cathedral museum which is just outside and in front of the cathedral. We enjoyed it.

  • 2/5 Claudia P. 10 months ago on Google
Worth the visit, if you can get around the tour groups. My review here is mainly for the traffic management of the cathedral. We found as individual travelers it was quite difficult to navigate the cathedral due to the amount of schools visiting yesterday. There was an enormous line outside the cathedral, which we later found out was only for the tours, and individual visitors could have bypassed this line (but there are no signs or instructions to signify this). Once in the cathedral, it is difficult to navigate as spaces are small and tour groups are often blocking the signage for each of the monuments, and you cannot move on to the next section until the tour groups are finished. The cathedral itself is breathtaking and definitely worth the visit to see Polish royalty, but would advise that better traffic management be put in place to make this experience better for all visitors.

An excellent experience. The crypt is a must see, and the bells tower is very exciting. A lovely view of the city from up there. Don't hesitate and go see it.

  • 4/5 Derrick P. 7 months ago on Google
Although the cathedral was magnificent, you are encouraged to follow the organised route around the cathedral. Beware of the bell tower though as it involves very steep and narrow steps.

  • 3/5 Jean-Claude P. 7 months ago on Google
I found the cathedral itself quite underwhelming and unspectacular. In particular, if you had recently visited the magnificent St. Mary's Basilica (in the Old Town Square) you will be almost disappointed. I'd post photos but inexplicably taking photos in the church is not allowed. The climb up the bell tower is interesting (lots of narrow steps), with a decent view from the top, and in the crypt there are some beautiful coffins. The crypt has an excellent presentation and is very well organised (though you might also find it a bit creepy). The entrance cost the equivalent of a bit more than €4 per person. Not huge, but if you want to cut costs skipping this one would not be a big loss. To be fair, I believe the ticket also includes entrance to the cathedral museum but we decided to give that a miss so I cannot comment on that.

A very nice surprise in the heart of Krakow! Of course we knew about the cathedral and its importance but we did not expect for such a significant part of it to be open and available for tourists. I think we enjoyed the cathedral visit even more than the Wavell Palace. So highly recommend!

Astonishing views of the city. For me, the most impressive has been the wood structure sustaining all the stairs (si h an amazing climb!)

Great site to learn about Polish history and royal traditions. Many of Polish royals and current beloved politicians are buried here. It is called the Polish Westminster. It is expensive to visit this place. The ticket office charges you for each individual catherdal or building. I only saw the main catherdal and not other sites.
