You can spend an afternoon walking through the formal and informal gardens of the old and new Hermitage palace. Don´t forget the water fountains and the pavilions. The café in the orangery next to the sun temple was still open. They serve really nice Wilhelmine-tart (a chocolate tart named after the Margravine Wilhelmine) and a refreshing drink called Schlossgetränk (translates as "Castle-Drink") which is bitter lemon with two scoops of lemon ice cream (and lime bits for decoration). I loved it. It has a good chance of becoming a favourite summer drink. The park has nice walks and some nice views, pavilions, ... Parking was free and walking in the park, too.

Perfect attraction for even a difficult traveller. Unfortunately we visited this extremely beautiful place on a raining day but the beauty of it can't stop us unconditionally enjoying our very good time with the nature and manaficent design.

Amazing place

You need to get tickets for the tour of the castle and the tour is 1h long, but really worth it. The lady, who was our tour guide was excellent. She really transported us back in time while telling us the important stories of the palace. The 1 hour flew by. The palace is not like your usual palace, but it feels more like a residence / home with hidden secrets. I definately recommend booking a tour (we had the tour in German). It is also not that expensive.

The outside green field and garden are beautiful and free. But you must go into the palace. It is a hidden gem.

I visited on a rainy Friday morning and walked virtually alone through the vast gardens, awestruck with the beauty of man, nature and time. Among the highlights are striking allees flanked by hornbeam hedges, some quite mature. Beautiful walks, water features, flower plantings, mature tree specimens, linden promenades. Meticulously cultivated and worthy, worthy, worthy of your time.

Very beautiful palace and gardens. Worth a visit. The interior is accesible only through German guided tours.

Book the tour to see the old castle. The interior fountain show is beautiful. We did the tour in German, not sure if it is available in English.

Beautiful heritage, never too crowded and the gardens are great. Tour only in German but they give you English papers about it and we found many of the guides helpful!

Gorgeous gardens to stroll around and even some hilly or steeper paths if you're feeling up for it. In summertime, the fountains do a little show on the hour. Tours in German or with a printout in English.
