Truly something special. All the waitresses were so nice. The food was amazing and the beer was even better. Don’t pass up their special homemade Rotbier. I also really enjoyed the homemade American Oak whiskey. One of the best I have ever had, though pricey for the amount you get.

Perfect local brewery, with very polite lady at the bar!!!! I’ve tried all the local beers and can say, that Rot weizen was just amazing!!! Usually I admire more helles or pilsner beers. And in rare cases dark one. But here, weizen it’s a must, also really recommend to lovers of dark beers to try it here! It’s worth it! The prices was just fair and I was really happy with overall experience! Will be back here next time I’m in town!

Really old place with the traditional Nürnberg Bratwurst and the rotbier. Welcoming and quick service, good prices and nice location to the castle. Update: came back the following day as I was trying to get in for a whiskey tasting, but that wasn't open yet. The bartender did remember me and was just as pleasant on Sunday as she was on Saturday.

I have no words to describe how these beer tastes, how the whiskey tastes, but also how enjoyable it is to simply enjoy listening to how the whiskey and the beers are crafted. I highly recommend stopping by here to enjoy this special treat.

Very cozy little and historical local brewery. Contrary to other spots in the area serving commercial beer, this place serves their own house brews. It’s also a great place to try the traditional Nuremberg RotBier along with some Franconian meals or snacks as accompaniment. When busy, the service can be pretty slow, but it’s worth the wait.

I like the bar. Rotbier here tastes really good. Service was great too.

The food is okay. The Nuremberg sausages were better elsewhere, as was the sauerkraut. I wouldn't eat here again in the future. Rot bier is fine but was expecting something with more of an unusual/special flavor. /shrug Really friendly, patient people working here. Beautiful grounds.

The beer flight and the pork shoulder were excellent. Legit franconian good and beer in a really special environment. Highly recommended.

We went just for drinks, and really enjoyed it. We tried their RotBier, which was great. We also had one of their gins, which was really delicious. The atmosphere was great and it had quite a cosy feel. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to sample some good locally brewed drinks!

Only visited here for beers but they were really nice. Service was a but slow as it seemed they only had 1 person on for the entire pub. Prices for beers seem a bit more than other places but that could be because the beers are brewed by the pub Great location right near the castle.

One of the best place for dinner in Nuremberg! Must try the pork shoulder, the crackling skin doesnt stick to your teeth. Also try the red beer and whisky! Very good.

Very cozy bar and restaurant place. It's one of the oldest bar which serves the authentic Nürbereger Rotbier and as well as Bratwurst.

I'm seated at the bar not the main restaurant. Waitress chatting with friends but still very efficient. The red bier is sweet And malty.

Nice atmosphere with tables on the street and inside the pub. Fast service, fresh and quality beers.

Nice place to go with colleagues, but probably not the place you'd go on a date to. The food is good but not exceptional, the selection of beers and drinks is great. Many whiskeys are available that are locally made.

After a bit of a break, once again a visit and still a recommendation. The pub itself is quite small and quaint. Really good is the home-brewed beer, but also the whiskeys, which are also homemade must have tried. In the adjoining store you can stock up or book a tour through the rock cellars under the city. Small downer: The restaurant was very well attended, but there was only one lady in the service. She gave her best and also came well behind. But the personal touch, which would actually fit such a small restaurant, was lost.

This place has some of the most delicious beer I've ever tried. Nice atmosphere, good service staff.

Trully amazing place with an amazing beer. The waiter was fantastic, even though She has done the service completly Alone (bartend, waiter, barback). One woman army for all the place. Definetly a place worth to visit.

It's a good recommendation for non vegetarian but doesn't have much vegan option. The waitresses were all very friendly and pleasant. They know English well. Pleasant atmosphere for an office outing. The potato soup and Ratatouille can be made much better. Being a vegan it was a disappointing outing but my friends (non-veg) had a lovely time with Goulash and lot of beef variants.

Recommended to us by a friend. What a find. Delicious beer, the Rot Beer (red beer) of Nuremberg was so good and bierbrand is something I've not come across before. A great place for any beer & whiskey enthusiasts!

We had the best meal here. Their signature dish is no joke the best food we had in Munich/Nurnberg. The atmosphere is very homey and the staff provides really nice service. Just a minute walk away from the castle (turn a corner).

If you're looking for some delicious beer and outstanding whisky, Hausbrauerei Altstadthof is the place for you. The PX whisky is especially noteworthy. However, the service could be friendlier.

Very good selection of beers and different interesting distilled spirits from beers. There is also the option to get a wide variety of German whiskey. The food was great and the service was attentive and nice. The restaurant has a courtyard in the back that gives a nice private feel, but to be seated there you most likely would have to make a reservation.

Their rotbier (a Nürnberg local speciality), was very good and actually surprised me since I’m not usually much of a beer drinker. I didn’t get food there, just beer, but it looked good. Servers are friendly and speak English well.

Service is a little slow as there is a one women team. But beer and wine were great. The food was amazing

The kitchen was closed (Monday 20.30) so we just ordered their Rotbeer (Red) and the Dunkel. Nice beers the Red wasn't as good as most reviews suggest. The dunkel was better.

We recently spent a few days in Nuremburg and stopped by Hausbrauerei Altstadthof along Bergstraße. Opening hours are 11am to 12am daily. This is a brewery that seems to have been here for other 30 years, brewing speciality beers including the locally famous red beer which dates back to the 14th-century in Nuremburg. This is a neat traditional bar with a dark interior, quite a few visitors at the time of our visit. They serve food and drinks. We tried the dark beer and a the special red beer. Both were fine, not favourites of ours nor anything bad. Service was rather slow during our visit, just one person taking care of the entire seating area. Overall, not a bad place for a round of beers after a few hours of sightseeing around the city. We'd consider stopping here again in the future.

Fantastic ambiance with even better drinks, which are all made on site. Food is great with good service. The server had made a mistake with an order and was so sorry she gave us comped schnapps. Went above and beyond.

Interesting tour, primarily about beer production in Nuremburg with a little bit of wartime information at the start of the tour. The guide was friendly and informative. It was implied that there was a free trading of beer/whisky at the end of the tour whereas in fact you get 1 euro discount per ticket and its a case of going to the attached restaurant to order it.

Best Rotbier that we tasted in Nürnberg! Definitely worth to order the Tasting pallet with different beer varieties and a small beer schnaps. The Rotbier and Schnaps were just phenomenal! We had the snack plate with a variety of meats and obazda, goes so well with the beer! They have a bunch of tables out front, very cute to sit and enjoy the atmosphere.

They produce the beer themselves. It's quite good.
