We went on Monday around 6:30pm, and there are lots of available seats, we get seated quickly, ordered some beers and 2 platters to share. Friendly staff and serving was fast. Food portion is large and quality is good.

Portion is huge! I ask the staff what will recommend full pork knuckle or half for one person and he said I can eat full one. Chose the smallest and still too much for me. Pork skin is crispy and tasty but too dry without any sauce at the end and couldn’t finish.

This is a very traditional German place. It’s has a very spacious dining hall. They have separators between the tables so its pretty good for covid safety. The staff was attentive and friendly. The portions were quite big and tasty.

We were so glad to have stumbled across Haxnbauer, what a awesome restaurant/beer hall! We didn't reserve but the lovely man found us a table right away and it was such a busy night (sunday) so we were very grateful that he got us a table! Service was impeccable and food amazing! We had their famous pork knucle. The husband and I shared a half pork knuckle and it was absolutely ample. We also had the shared meat platter, cheese, speads, radish, shredded turnip and breads. It was so good and the first time we tried the shredded turnip. Sounds weird but it goes so well with the meats and spreads! A family of 4 cost us 75€ (including the kids meal and beers). Money well spent! We will definitely return!

Another great visit to Haxen Grille (formerly Haxenbauer). I usually try to visit here every time I am in Munich, which amounts to once a year if I'm lucky. Google maps says this place is closed permanently but it is not It is just renamed, which was lucky for me. I opted for the beef broth appetizer, haxen pur entree, non alcoholic helis beer, and warm raspberries and ice cream for desert. I was not disappointed with any of my selections; Everything was perfect! The place was quite crowded and they seated us (a party of three) add a table that seats six. They did warn us that they could add someone else to the table, and they did. We met a pair of nice ladies from Northern Germany and had a pleasant conversation. It is quite unique being seated next to strangers when you are out for dinner but it is common enough in Germany and made the evening more interesting. I highly recommend!

Nice setting, average food. We decided to split a roasted pork hock for lunch. Unfortunately the one we got was very dry. The sides were nice and the beer was refreshing. But we had hoped for more from this classic specialist restaurant.

Great traditional German food. Good for groups. Very good service (Said was professional and fun), and food orders come out quickly. Pictured - Bavarian duo (one slice of veal and pork knuckle) with potato dumplings, cucumber salad, smoked salmon and potato cakes, apple strudel, apple fritters and plum dessert. Veal knuckle and apple fritters are must haves

Both the pork knuckle and the veal were a little salty and the dessert tasted good. The service staff is very friendly, but the hygiene in the store needs to be improved. There are oil stains on the coasters and there are flies in the store.

I was served by Said Souli. Service was super and he recommended me what to go for and said that it would be more than enough for me. The pork knuckle was juicy and not tough. The mash potato is subtly creamy and the sauerkraut takes the greasiness off. Restaurant ambience is good, like a traditional brauhaus. Definitely worth a visit.

I've been to this restaurant a couple of times, as I like their pork knuckle (Schweinshaxen). In my opinion it is one of the best in Munich and the service is usually fast, at least I never had to wait a long time for the meal to come. With respect to price it is nota cheap restaurant, so for just a beer and a pork knuckle expect to pay around 25€ per person at minimum. Bier is overpriced here, even for Munich standard and somehow they don't even have Bavarian brands (it is not a major issue, but I would expect in such a restaurant to be a standard). I would recommend coming here if you want to try pork knuckle in a restaurant with Bavarian vibes. Their service has been usually standard, depending on the waiter some are friendlier then others. Only once have I encountered a waiter that made a comment about the tip (saying it is too little). This is not acceptable I don't have to tip at all, so no comments should be made on that regard. I respect their work and understand it is not always an easy job, but I give what I want if anything at all. So overall, I rate this a 4, but if some issues persist or happen again, I would change to a 3. The pork knuckle is tasty but the rest of the experience needs to match.

My favorite place to eat in Munich. All the food is so traditional and you have to get the pork knuckles. I’m actually surprised that the rating isn’t higher but I went twice and there was always a line the place was packed until closing. It’s probably the first place I’m going to eat next time I’m in München.

Good German food. Service is better than what u normally can get in Germany. Definitely try the pig knuckle. A full pig knuckle is approximately 800-1000 g. The Portion Veal Knuckle is also good, a good alternative if you don't prefer pig.

If your looking for authentic Haxe (thigh part of pig/young cow) i highly recommend to go to this place. I ordered half portion of pork and beef (Kalb) to try both pork skin was crispy good seasoned and the Kalb meat was so tender. during this pandemic they ask certificate of vaccination before dining in, but if your not u can just get take away. service was really good and fast and very nice waiters. This place is just few meters from the Ubahn (train station) in Marianplatz, you can also just walk around after a very good meal and check some historical places nearby.

We enjoyed some good food and live music. Overall a good place for lunch or dinner, quieter and more manageable than some other bigger beer houses (some of them feel more like a centraltrain station). Service could have been a little friendlier, but overall a good experience.

Come for vibrant atmosphere and it’s a very touristy place. Prices are reasonable and service, despite the crowd, is bearable. Second time we tried pork knuckle in one day and this fared better. The pulled pork burger with veal was tender. And the 1/2 pork knuckle was huge for Asian eater. Advised to share. The pork skin was crispy but then some parts of the meat was a bit dry. The highlight for me was really the sweet potato fries that came with it. Batter was light and fries was fluffy. Service was relaxing and we here a good server Chanel who made sure his diners are enjoying themselves.

It is a nice place with a traditionary german atmosphere. The waiters were very polite. The foods were tasteful My choice was 'Bayer Duo' :) Toilet was clean and the price was also OK

Came for the best Pork Knuckle in town but it was not as good as the one we tried in Berlin. The skin was hard rather than crisp and it is slightly burnt. Meat was tender enough but far from being remarkable. Nurnberger Bartwurst are 13 euro for every six sausages which is on the expensive side. Taste of the sausages didn't justify the price. Beer was so-so. Service was also slow with the sausages didn't come until 5-10 mins after we finished the half knuckle. It also took just about as much time to get the bill. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant if one is looking for good knuckle, sausages beer or even atmosphere which there is next to none. There is easily a better restaurant just across the street and a lot more across town.

Very professional and fast service. This is certainly a Munich establishment that goes above and beyond the mark for traditional German eats. Their various pork dishes are top notch with very tasty sides. Large portions and very reasonably priced. Highly reccomended.

We were traveling in Munich during Covid and this was one of the few places that served us without being a issue. I would gladly come back. Food and beers were wonderful. The pork knuckle was crispy yet moist. Great service and establishment.

Nice pork knuckle and beers! But it’s a lit bit hot inside during summer.

Everything is perfect in this restaurant. I was yesterday there for eating lunch and i was surprised. I will come back every time I will have the opportunity here, because all is good. I truly recommend this place. My note for this is 10 with congratulations! The food is great.

Spacious dining hall with many tables. We arrived at 7pm without a reservation but happily, was ushered to a table by a very friendly service staff. The food portions were generous and what we were served did not disappoint.

Pretty nice place with traditional bavarian food. May the best in Munich.

Ordered the big plate of the platter for 2 so you can try everything. Pork knuckle skin is probably the best part of the meal. A lot of the desserts are apple based, the first one is lit on fire to create a crispy shell prior to serving.

This place was an alternative decision to hofbrauhaus which was too packed and was very happy with the decision. Food and service were great! Also the beer as well.

Great experience! Food was really good and beer as well! Go for the local specialities and you won't be disappointed! Prices are cheap/affordable and the waiters are really nice. I will come back for sure!

Pork knuckle had crispy skin and taste was better than other grilled knuckle sold elsewhere. Environment was nice especially for a bigger crowd. Salad was quite tasty too. I used to have the most delicious beef goulash but it was taken off the menu when I went there this time. Heard this shop is closing up for good in October 2022 after some 50 years in business due to the effect of Covid19 and Ukraine war.

Authentic German food in the middle of Munich! Fully recommended, not only because it is not as crowded as other restaurants in the area, also due to the nice treat from the service and its delicious food. We order one of the main dishes that is to share for 2 people (24Eur pp) and it is the perfect option to try a bit of everything!

Exceptional Schweinhaxn. Succulent crispy skin, so full of flavor. Fall off the bone meat. The richest gravy. A must-do in München.

Amazing service followed by even better food. We ordered the full Haxn from pork and Viel and it was a very well rounded experience with amazing side dishes. We went for lunch and highly recommend a nice Bavarian meal at a very reasonable price.

The butcher platter has a little bit of everything! The pork knuckle’s crispy skin is amazing. Desserts also wonderful. Beer great too, of course. Great spot to try!
