I recently had the pleasure of visiting Bambarakanda Falls, and it left me awe-inspired and rejuvenated. This magnificent waterfall is a true gem nestled in the heart of nature. From the moment I arrived, I was captivated by the sheer beauty of the surroundings. The waterfall itself is a sight to behold. The water cascades down from a great height, creating a mesmerizing display of power and elegance. The sound of the rushing water is both soothing and invigorating, instantly transporting you to a state of tranquility. The surrounding landscape is lush and green, adding to the overall charm of the place. There are well-maintained walking trails that allow you to explore the area and get closer to the falls. The hike is relatively easy and offers breathtaking views at every turn. One of the things I appreciated most about Bambarakanda Falls is the sense of serenity it offers. Despite being a popular tourist destination, it manages to maintain a peaceful and uncrowded atmosphere. It's the perfect spot to escape the hustle and bustle of daily life and connect with nature. The amenities provided at the site are also commendable. There are clean restroom facilities and a small café where you can grab a snack or refreshments. The staff members are friendly and helpful, ensuring a pleasant experience for visitors. I highly recommend visiting Bambarakanda Falls to anyone seeking a dose of natural beauty and tranquility. It's a place that will leave you in awe of Mother Nature's wonders. Don't forget to bring your camera, as the photo opportunities are simply breathtaking. Overall, my experience at Bambarakanda Falls was nothing short of exceptional. I will cherish the memories I made there and eagerly look forward to returning in the future. It's truly a must-visit destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. Enjoy your visit to Bambarakanda Falls – you won't be disappointed..! ❤️💧

Bambarakanda Water fall is the tallest water fall in Sri Lanka. You can visit this water fall by travelling along Kalupahana junction to Ohiya road about 4km. Parking area is available near the road. You have to buy a ticket at the entrance and you can reach the bottom of the water fall. There is a viewing platform. If you travel more along Ohiya road(3km), then you can reach the top of water fall. Ohiya road has fallen across the water stream of Bambarakanda Water fall. At this place there is a small pool. It is a very nice safe place to have a bath. If you travel little more distance along Ohiya road(300m), there is a very nice view point of mountain range(called as upper Bambarakanda camping location). Rest of the road (from this viewpoint to Ohiya) is difficult. It is called as Devil's staircase and famous for hiking and camping. It is a off-road track which can travel by foot or bike(four wheel vehicle cannot reach Ohiya because a landslip). Ohiya is a small town and you can visit Horton Plains via Ohiya entrance. About Photos: Photos are up to viewpoint(Bambarakanda camping location). Photos are not appeared correct order in this review. * mark photos are related from view point to ohiya.(only few photos for your information) If some one interest to travel ohiya and horton plains from bambarakanda falls..contact me for information..you can find my contact no in facebook.

    • Actually a must see, Bambarakanda falls is the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka 🇱🇰 and also it ranks as the 461st highest waterfall in the world. •Bambarakanda Falls is located in Kalupahana in the Badulla District. •You should buy a ticket before going in and then follow up along the road through beautiful pine trees to the view point. Fun Facts 😀👇🏻 😜 Most of the people just go to the view point and maybe go to Lanka Ella and return, but if you are planning on camping the best place is Upper Bambarakanda Falls small camp site which is the peak of the bambarakanda falls with a amazing view, but to reach their you should go up through the pine trees before the road to Lanka Ella (its a little hard to find) You can see the camping site in the photos, ( most people camp in වැලි වංගුව but nothing much is their, 𝚝𝚛𝚢 𝚌𝚊𝚖𝚙𝚒𝚗𝚐 𝚒𝚗 𝚞𝚙𝚙𝚎𝚛 𝙱𝚊𝚖𝚋𝚊𝚛𝚊𝚔𝚊𝚗𝚍𝚊 ) enjoy 💁🏻‍♂️ ꜱᴀꜰᴇ ᴛʀᴀᴠᴇʟꜱ 🅐︎🅜︎🅘︎🅖︎🅞︎🅢︎ ❤️

Bambarakanda waterfall is a must-visit destination, not only because it’s the tallest waterfall in the country. The surrounding area offers many waterfalls to see, several mountain treks and 4-wheel tracks through the mountain terrains as well as mesmerizing mountain views like nowhere else in the country. The fall is situated 5kms away from the main road and you must travel upwards a narrow and winding road to meet this beauty. Though the fall is visible to the road, to get close, you need to walk along a pine forest patch to reach the base. You will find a ticket counter on the road, which is the access route to the waterfall, and you have pay LKR 50 per adult and some items like camping tents are not allowed to take. The path is well-maintained with stairs and it’s a quiet easy trek. After about 20 minutes, you can reach the base of the waterfall and when you do, there’s a sitting area near the waterfall where you can have the best view of the waterfall from there.

Bambarakanda Waterfall stands as the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka, situated along the Kalupahana-Ohiya road. Accessible via a low ground clearance vehicle from the Kalupahana side, a four-wheel vehicle or a bike is essential when approaching from Ohiya. A brief 15-minute walk from the main road or ticket counter leads to the waterfall, and the same route provides access to Lanka Waterfall. A further two-kilometer walk from Bambarakanda Waterfall is required to reach the captivating Lanka Waterfall. The experience combines natural beauty with a touch of adventure, making it a compelling destination for enthusiasts.

I recently took a motorcycle trip to the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka and it was an incredible experience. The ride itself was breathtaking, with winding roads through lush forests and breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. Upon arriving at the waterfall, we were amazed by its size and power. The falls themselves were a sight to behold, with water crashing down from a great height and mist rising up from the pool below. The surrounding area was also beautiful, with a number of hiking trails and lookout points that offered stunning views of the falls and the surrounding landscape. Overall, this was an incredible trip and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an adventure in Sri Lanka. Whether you're a seasoned motorcyclist or a beginner, this trip is sure to be a memorable experience.

This is the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. It is about 780 feet. Located near Kalupahana junction. It is a very beautiful and attractive place. You can bath and swim. But do it very carefully. Ticket price is Rs.50 for local adults and Rs.20 for local children. We reached this place by car. So you can reach this place with any vehicle. Come and visit this place. Do not litter anywhere.

Bambarakanda waterfall is the tallest waterfall of Sri Lanka and is in Haldummulla. In height it’s about 241meters. The water falls down from a high rock on to others and adds beauty to this fall. Water comes from a tributary from Horton plains. From there it goes to Samanala Wewa, meaning the valley of butterflies. Finally falls to Walawe River. Travelling to this place is not easy as to the other falls of Sri Lanka. This fall is far away from the main road and the turning point is Kalupahana Junction (160Km from Colombo) and is the closest main road to fall. The distance between Kalupahana and the waterfall is about 5 kms. This 5 Km is a narrow road a Car, Van or light vehicle can take you closer to the fall. There is few accommodation facilities available close to Bambarakanda falls. Bambarakanda Holiday Resort which is located overlooking the Bambarakanda fall is the only holiday resort close to the falls. Good hotels and residencies are available at Belihul Oya which is close to Bambarakanda (10Km) There are some more waterfalls close to Bambarakanda falls. They are Lanka Ella, Uduwara Ella and Nagadowa Ella. Several mini falls could be seen. They are also beautiful but not taller and famous as Bambarakanda. Location Kalupahana, Sri Lanka Coordinates 6°46′1″N 80°49′59″ECoordinates: 6°46′1″N 80°49′59″E Type Horsetail Elevation ≈1,100 m (3,600 ft) Total height 263 m (863 ft) Number of drops 1 Watercourse Kuda Oya, a tributary of Walawe River World height ranking 299th.

You can also take a hike to the top of the waterfall through the pine forest and it will take about 1.5 hours, covering 1.6kms. The best period for such a hike in April to September, where the waterfall is not too dry as well as not harsh due to the gushing water flow. If you’re doing this hike, don’t forget to visit Lanka Ella, another magnificent waterfall situated in the jungle, close to Bambarakanda falls. It is a wonderful experience to take a bath in the cold base pool since it’s a safe place. The waterfall and the surrounding area is a great place for photography as well.

A wonderful moment spent by the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. The platue of Horton Plains edges giving way to the falls. Great mountains bear green virgin forest. You better have a four wheel drive or a mo bike as the road is not well maintained. But the local government charges you a few bucks to see the waterfall. If you are ready to spend time hiking there are so much of mountain trails and hidden water falls in the area. Better you come back to starting point before the nightfall.

Highest waterfall in SriLanka. The access road is very narrow and dilapidated. Very dangerous to go in that road in a bus or large van. Can manage with a small car but can get hit on a lower chassis a bit. Ok for motorcycles and off road vehicles. It's an amazing site. Entry ticket is Rs 50 for local adults and Rs 350 foreigners. Small hike up to the falls. Alot of trash and litter along the way despite bins located along the path. Please do not trash the place. There are few wash rooms on the way and near the falls. Local shops selling tea and pol roti found near the parking lot.

The path to the falls starts on the main road on a sharp turn with no real boards so beware as I turned once without finding it. The road is carpeted only 50% and vehicles with high ground clearance is recommended. The falls are indeed spectacular and following the road above the falls is a lovely and chilling place to take a bath. Be warned that fog descends close to one hour before sunset so make the trek down early.

The waterfall is really beautiful. The only downside is that the road is really narrow to reach there by vehicle. Two vehicles can barely pass. We had a huge rain fall while coming down and it was a nightmare to drive downhill. Leeches are there also in wet conditions. There is a small ticket counter where you can buy ticket to enter the small trail to waterfall. Around 10mins walk through pine trees from ticket counter to the waterfall. Worth the effort to go there and relax. Not recommended to visit on a rainy day.

The road starts from the main road which is kalupahana ohiya road. It's about 5km to the waterfall. There is also a van which provides transportation to the waterfall. The ticket costs Rs.30 for locals as of 16.04.2022. Bambaraknda is known to be the highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. The view is mesmerizing and the nature related with the waterfall is so beautiful. If you are walking from the main road there will be dogs that will guide u to the top. Specially a black dog. While coming down from the bambaraknda after few stairs there will be small road into the woods to the right hand side which is barely visible which will take you to the LankaElla falls which is a must visit. The journey to it is breathtaking through the woods and the view at the top is priceless.

Sri Lanka's tallest waterfall, with beautiful scenery. You can get to the upper side of the waterfall by walking around the pinewood. Surrounded by forest and no lights after 6PM. So it is advised to go before the dusk. This is located 5km from the main road and only light vehicles with normal floor height can reach the end. The road is very narrow and has sharp turns with ascending height. There's a small hut near the fall where you can get snacks and soft drinks if needed for added charge around ten rupee. Cannot swim or bath in the water fall due to rocks are slippery and sharp and the failing water may harm whoever under them and the waterfall pond is very small. There's a concrete structure made so you can enjoy the view without getting vet or going in to waterfall.

After a 10 mins walk, you'll reach this beautiful place.. the plunge pool of the highest waterfall in sri lanka.. Suitable for bathing and resting... not too deep neither shallow... cement benches are available. But I felt the true natural sense of this place has been harmed with all the cement buildings and structures..

You can reach near to the entrance of the waterfall using a personal vehicle. There is only around 4km from the kalupahana junction, A4 highway to the entrance of the waterfall. The road is not that good, but still you can travel by a car. Entrance fee is 50 Lkr per adult. Waterfall is really beautiful, the tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka. A must visit place if you are a nature lover.

The highest waterfall in Sri Lanka is "Bambarakanda Falls". It is situated in the Badulla District of the Uva Province and is renowned for its impressive height, which measures approximately 263 meters (863 feet). This waterfall is located in a picturesque, mountainous region and is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts and hikers. It offers breathtaking views and is surrounded by lush greenery, making it a picturesque spot to visit in Sri Lanka. I was fortunate to visit during the inter-monsoon season, which added to the beauty and majesty of the falls.

Highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. In entrance you are charged small amount (Rs 50). Only 450m to waterfall from the entrance. 2 washrooms on the way from entrance to waterfall. Parking at the near entrance. Best part is you can bath here without any issue…

Wonderful experience visiting here. Breathtaking view and a soothing environment to get your mind free. The path led to the waterfall was clean and appreciate if you could keep it that way. You will have to buy a ticket at the entrance path but it would be nothing compared to the view and rejuvenating experience.

The highest waterfall in Sri Lanka. You have to pay to see the waterfall. We camped on the small road from the ticketing office to the waterfall. However, it is dangerous as rocks can fall from the mountains in rainy seasons. Very clean and tidy environment. when we visit there was no enough water to fall. However, in rainy season she gets really mad. You will not be able to go closer at all. Place has benches to sit and see the waterfall. Well maintained place.

Tallest waterfall of Sri Lanka, usually has a thinner body but we were fortunate to get a view on a day it is replete with water following heavy rains to the mountains in prior week..

In mobile photography you can’t get full shot of the waterfall in normal mode. If you going to capture in panorama mode definitely you would get the best shot of the water fall as I attached below. And there are leaches so make sure to walk only concreted area. Thanks.
