Maa Mahuri kalua is the deity of the then kingdom of Mahuri garh in Ganjam district. The temple is situated in the middle of a depression between small and big mountains in the eastern ghat mountain ranges. The main temple is situated atop the hill which is accessible by only trekking not less than a thousand stairs . There is a temple also at the foothills where all the puja and rituals are observed. The place is very scenic and beautiful. The roads approaching this temple is very beautiful surrounded by lush greenery all around. The district administration has recently taken up the task of beautification of the spot and a small hill side park is being erected in front of the temple which will definitely attract much tourists to this hidden temple of the district. There is ample opportunity for picnickers here as the place is hidden below thick forest cover so people can visit this place round the year. Earlier the place was becoming empty by the evening due to its placement away from population, but the recent development will change that and I think the evening view of the garden will be a major attraction for people of the district and far to visit this place.

Peaceful place. Great backdrop of the mountains. You can trek all the way up for a superb view of the area. It's pretty cool at the top. You can find a temple on the top as well. The Temple flag can be seen from the foot hills. There is a new park out there for kids to hang around. The road to this place is serene and great canopy of the trees

It's a beautiful Temple situated in a scenic place, surrounded by mountains. There is a beautiful garden there which is still under further development by Govt. Of Odisha. It is said that Raja of Mahuri Kalua worshipped the Goddess. It is also a Sakti Pitha. It should be developed further under tourism project to promote our culture and heritage.

πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ Mahuri Kalua Temple is one of the important visiting cum picnic spots of the Southern part of Odisha. It is situated near Berhampur of Ganjam Dist. The place is named after the Goddess Mahuri Kalua, the prime deity of King of Mahuri. There is an interesting story is associated with this place. The Goddess was established inside a Cave situated at the Hill Top where nobody can reach except the King and his family. As believed by the local people, the King of Mahuri was presented with a special sword by the Goddess that protected him from every danger. But one day the King lost the sword and was defeated by the Britishers. And afterward, the Goddess was worshipped by a Sabara on request of the King. The Sabara established the deity at the foot of the Hill, where everyone can access. Now with the help of the Tourism Dept. of Odisha, steps have been built so that tourists can access the cave where the Goddess was earlier established. πŸ™πŸ™

Mahuri Kalua TempleΒ is one of the significant visiting cum cookout spots of the Southern piece of Odisha. It is arranged close to Berhampur of Ganjam Dist. The spot is named after the Goddess Mahuri Kalua, the superb god of King of Mahuri. Presence of Dense timberland and Hills makes the spot more fascinating for guests. There is an intriguing story is related with this spot. The Goddess was set up inside a Cave arranged at the Hill Top where no one can reach with the exception of the King and his Family. As accepted by the neighborhood individuals, the King of Mahuri was given an extraordinary sword by the Goddess that shielded him from each threat. However, one day the King lost the sword and was crushed by the Britishers. What’s more, after wards, the Goddess was loved by a Sabara on solicitation of the King. The Sabara set up the divinity at the foot of the Hill, where everybody can get to. Presently with the assistance of Tourism Dept. of Odisha, steps have been assembled with the goal that vacationers can get to the cavern where the Goddess was before set up. The Temple is surrounded by Green Hills and Dense Forest. One can experience the musical orchestra of birds. The pollution-free atmosphere attracts many visitors and picnic lovers. A small rest house is there for visitors. Now with the help of the Tourism Dept. of Odisha, steps have been built so that tourists can access the cave where the Goddess was earlier established.

Very serene atmosphere of the temple. But surrounding is not properly cleaned or maintained. During the season, this is a great picnic place for the people of berhampur. There is a temple at the top and also at the foot heels. The place is also known as a shaktipeeth.

The place is nice, but maintenance is ZERO. Very dirty at places, liquor bottle found near the view point. Although beautification is done at the place, but it is in a neglected condition without any maintenance. Govt should look after this issue and help to boost tourism by properly maintaining the holy place
