Palgongsan
Mountain
that
I
saw
after
coming
to
Donghwasa
Temple
in
Daegu!
Even
when
I
see
it
from
afar,
I
am
completely
absorbed
in
the
snowflakes^^;;;
If
I
had
time,
I
would
want
to
go
up
right
away@@/
I
will
hike
a
short
course
soon
and
upload
it
^^
I
enjoyed
seeing
the
wonderful
scenery~~~

spanning
Dong-gu,
Daegu
Metropolitan
City,

Opened
Palgongsan
Mountain
(1,192.3m)
is
a
mountain
connected
to
the
southwest
from
Bohyeonsan
Mountain
(1,124m)
in
the
Taebaek
Mountain
Range.
With
Birobong,
the
highest
peak,
at
the
center,
East
Peak
and
West
Peak
rise
in
the
shape
of
two
wings
spread
out.
The
ring-shaped
mountain
range
formed
on
the
border
between
Daegu
Metropolitan
City
and
Gyeongsangbuk-do
with
Palgongsan
Mountain
at
its
center
is
called
the
Palgongsan
Mountain
Range,
which
covers
the
northern
part
of
the
Daegu
Basin
like
a
folding
screen.
The
mountain
range
starts
from
Choryebong
(648m)
in
the
southeast,
passes
through
Hwanseongsan
(811m),
Inbong
(887m),
and
Palgongsan
and
reaches
Gasan
(902m)
in
the
northwest.
From
Inbong
to
Gasan,
it
is
the
main
part
of
the
Palgong
Mountain
Range
and
is
about
20km
long.
Name
origin
The
old
name
of
Palgongsan
was
Gongsan
Buak,
and
in
『Sinjeung
Donggukyeojiseungnam』,
it
is
recorded
that
it
was
“compared
to
Jungak
(中岳)
and
was
ranked
as
a
middle
shrine.”
During
the
Later
Three
Kingdoms
period,
when
Gyeon
Hwon
(甄萱)
was
attacking
Seorabeol,
Taejo
of
Goryeo
went
out
with
5,000
soldiers
to
conquer
the
Later
Baekje
army,
but
met
Gyeon
Hwon
(桐藪)
at
Gongsan
(公山)
Dongsu
(桐藪)
and
was
surrounded.
It
is
said
that
at
that
time,
Shin
Seong-gyeom
(申崇謙)
disguised
himself
as
Taejo
and
jumped
into
the
enemy
camp
on
a
cart
and
was
killed,
barely
saving
King
Taejo's
life.
It
is
said
that
at
that
time,
all
eight
generals,
including
Shin
Sunggyeom
and
Kim
Rak
(金樂),
were
killed
and
the
name
Palgongsan
came
to
be.
In
addition,
there
are
several
theories
about
the
origin
of
Palgong
Mountain,
including
the
theory
that
the
name
Palgong
Mountain
was
borrowed
from
China's
Anhui
Province.
natural
environment
Palgongsan
Mountain's
overall
arrangement
is
in
the
shape
of
a
bell-shaped
mountain,
unlike
the
surrounding
hills.
As
for
the
geology,
the
Bulguksa
granite
intruded
into
the
Gyeongsang
Supergroup,
widely
distributed
in
the
surrounding
area,
forming
a
dome
topography.
Afterwards,
through
erosion,
the
upper
sedimentary
rock
was
removed
and
the
granite
underneath
was
exposed,
giving
it
its
current
appearance.
To
the
north
of
Palgongsan
Mountain,
Namcheon
(南川),
the
upper
stream
of
Wicheon
(渭川),
and
several
mountain
streams
flow,
and
to
the
east,
Hancheon
(漢川)
and
Shinnyeongcheon
(新寧川)
flow.
The
southern
part
of
the
mountain
is
gentle,
with
hilly
mountainous
areas
such
as
Eunghaesan
(526m)
and
Eungbong
(456m)
rising,
and
between
them,
a
river
flows
south
and
gathers
in
Donghwacheon
(桐華川),
and
then
Geumhogang
River
(琴湖汱).
)
flows
into.
It
has
been
discovered
that
24
species
of
birds,
14
species
of
mammals,
and
118
families,
464
genera,
858
species,
4
subspecies,
193
varieties,
and
25
varieties
of
plants
are
distributed
in
Palgong
Mountain.
