Honestly they don’t need you. So service here is chop chop. Get in eat and buzz off. The beef katsu is prob the best I’ve tasted. All prep beforehand. The dish is served when you sit. I wasn’t prepared to queue so I came early at 1045am and there were 4 in front of me. Not too bad. I still had to wait till 11am for shop to open. Anyway it’s worth the try once. Price is reasonable too. Cheap in singapore standards.

The beef steak is so tender and juicy. The stone cooking part is very entertaining. We got half cooked fried steak and cooked on stone with our taste. Be aware this place is very popular and need to wait long queue sometimes. And they have chain stores all over Tokyo and Osaka.

There was a line down a narrow staircase. Not ideal for line but people find a way. We showed up around 6, waited about an hour to be seated. The meal was great. The outside part of the nest was crispy. They do measure the fuel for fire exactly what you need for the meal, so don't wait too long to cook your meat. We enjoyed the part where you can finish cooking the meat to your looking. We like the menu options for amount of meat you order based on how hungry you are. There is a wasabi sauce that was amazing. Don't forget the free rice bowl is this need it!! Service was lackluster. We had to call the servers several times before they saw us. We ended up getting up to get attention.

Delicious beef cutlet that you grill on a hot plate. Place is busy and sold out quickly so go early. Place can get quite smokey so be prepared for that.

Superb beef cutlet. Ordered the 1.5 meat serving this time & i personally find the portion was just right for myself. Each of the slice's thickness is just right (not too thick, nor not too thin). Stone grill is provided to further cook the individual slices of meat to your own liking. There's free rice refill too

Visited the smaller chain at Nishi-Shinjuku, service was fast, nice gyukatsu, have fun grilling to your own doneness. Very smokey though in the restaurant. @live2njoy

Our first meal after arriving in Japan. A bar set pretty high - I can eat this everyday! Very simple menu and you can only chose meal size and drink. Beef is incredibly soft and melts in your mouth! There was a little bit of wait during rush hour and you would come out with Smokey clothes. But trust me it’s totally worth it!

we came to queue before 11am opening, managed to get in line 15mins before on 16.12.2023 & got in for the first seating together with 3 more group behind us the ones after have to wait another 40mins till the first seating in us depart the gyukatsu far exceeded our expectations the beef was really excellent, melt in the mouth, and even with grilling and charging still very tender. the garlic and beef sauce both good, the salad sauce also ..coleslaw was good, grated mountain yam also tasty and the warabi mochi also very soft and good standard.. basically everything good la👍🏻 cold tea and cups on the table..water hot to ask and served rightaway 👍🏻 price also good, though had gone up price for one portion ¥1930 add 1 beer ¥500+¥2430..my 1.5 portion ¥¥2600 2 very happy diners

Queued for an hour - partly due to wrong opening hours on Google Maps. Came in first “batch” having ordered in the entrance. The food was served very fast, but without much spirit.. which makes sense due to the huge number of people coming through here. The food is superb, nothing to write about here, it’s simply great. The five stars are given as they didn’t make the experience feel rushed even though the queue was enormous.

Queued for about an hour, place was small but sufficient space for small movement. Food was served quickly and it was delicious. Rice is refillable and I had a great meal. You can choose from 3 sizes.

Discreet hole-in-the-wall restaurant (actually in a basement), serving the most out watering beef katsu. The doneness is up to you as you use the hot stone to cook the beef further. Super tasty wagyu beef at a very affordable price. The setting is cosy and the service from staff is solid 👍 highly recommended. Because the area is small, seats are limited and only counter or small 2-seater tables. No space for large groups.

I really liked the beef and self cooking it. The potato salad tasted like back home but texture of salad was different. Skipped the spicy salmon roe as it was bitter and spicy. The beef was very yummy however very fatty which is typical Japanese. Cabbage was nice and so was rice. Took a set meal with a pepsi. Really one one dish here and it is done right. You cook beef to your temperature liking. Fun with friends.

the most affordable wagyu without compromising the quality 🙏 The set meal I got cost ¥2900 ($31 AUD). This included 1.5 cutlets, sauces, rice, tororo, cabbage, a drink & dessert (and even a rice refill!). I saw quite a few Gyukatsu Motomoras during our trip but we just walked into this one because there was no line (there was a line when we left though). Everyone got their own stone grill and instructions. Grilling our own beef to medium rare was really fun and mindful. The beef was impeccable, super rich, tender and fatty. The crunchy breading added a new texture to the every bite. There were a few sauce options such as salt, wasabi and soy sauce. This might have been my first time having tororo, and it was really delicious with the rice. It's a sticky texture made from yam and seasoned beautifully. We also discovered a new love for warabi mochi. It's not super sweet; the texture is more jelly-like, and the soybean sauce is lovely. Be warned, you will absolutely smell smokey afterwards haha.

Incredible. Just incredible. Second best meal I've had in Japan. The only downside was the smoke but when your eyes are anyway closed in pleasure enjoying the food, it doesn't even matter does it?

This gyukatsu restaurant is quite popular, so expect some queues. If you prefer a more relaxed experience, try visiting their branches in less crowded areas. The beef was enjoyable, although it didn't stand out for us. Overall, it satisfied our cravings, but be prepared for potential wait times due to its popularity.

Outstanding Gyukatsu - which comes out rare / medium rare for you to finish off on your own hot plate for another ~10 seconds or so depending on how you like your steak. Prompt, friendly and efficient service makes for a simple but superb meal.
