A wonderful tonkatsu restaurant that opens relatively late (10 pm) compared to other restaurants in the area, the quality of ingredients, ambience, and ship in preparation are well worth the visit. The Kirishima Black Pork is flavourful and nearly melts in your mouth, with a perfectly light and crispy panko crust. Both cabbage salad dressings, one unusually based on blood oranges (whose flavor can be overwhelming when eating the fruit directly, but in the dressing pleasantly light, citrusy, and mildly sweet) and the more traditional vinegar and garlic (this one beautifully rich compared to other vinegar baseddressings in Japan) will vy to be your favorite. The clam miso soup is a nice compliment to the katsu, and the tsukemono picked vegetables are tangy to cleanse the palete. And the potato salad with mentaiko was a great started. Definitely a must try restaurant in Kamakura.

Very easy for foreigners with an English menu. The fried skewers were tastier than the actual katsu meal (the katsu was tasty but fatty and a bit chewy). Rice was tasty and same with the miso soup that came with the set. Would recommend the tuna fried skewer over the actual pork katsu. They had a happy hour from 4ish to 6 with 2 fried skewers and a beer / drink for $1000 yen.

The Pork Cutlet Set was among the juiciest and most tender I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing in Japan. The owner is super nice and was able to explain how to prepare the meals correctly in Japanese and English! Will visit again ☺️

The hire katsu was really tender and the rice from Niigata is one of the best tasting Japanese rice. The coating of the katsu was ok - typical of a good katsu place but nothing out of the ordinary but the meat was good (even the rosu was pretty tender and not too fatty) and the ebi / prawn was also tasty.

Went to Kamakura several times but my first time in this restaurant and I loved their tonkatsu here. Meat is so tender! No wonder why so many people would line up outside this resto.

Excellent service and nice ambiance, and the Tonkatsu... My goodness, it was so crispy and succulent I was speechless. And I even had the cheapest cut because I was on a budget, I can't imagine what their signature pork cutlet must taste like. I would give them 10 stars if I could, and I am grateful they took their time to explain in English the proper way to eat all the additional dishes that came with the Tonkatsu. Amazing!

Best tonkatus I've had. I visited here as dinner when I'd been in Kamakura for sightseeing. Close to Kamakura station. I'd like to get Hire-Katsu again.

If you very hungry I recommend you go another restaurant. But I can say the food is very fresh and prepare right the time. That’s why it takes some time. Taste very nice!

My favorite tonkatsu used to be in Suwa near Matsumoto (more than three hours drive) and it was worth the drive. But now I’ve found this little corner restaurant just outside the station in Kamakura. Excellent! Succulent, juicy pork katsu with freshly ground sesame katsu sauce. The jumbo prawn was perfectly cooked too. I’ll definitely be back for more!

Very lovely place with great service and delicious katsu! Can pay by credit card, PayPay and cashless. The 10th day of every month, bento and side dishes have 10% discount.

The food was overpriced an overrated. My pork loin meal was around 3000 yen, pieces of it were dry, and the breading kept falling off from underneath. Ive had much better tonkatsu, with more food that costs less.

Simply delicious traditional Japanese meal. Beautiful Tonkatsu dishes, good ambience and reasonable prices. It’s usually very busy during the day so I tried to go at night, on Saturday, and it was surprisingly quiet. I strongly recommend the desert.
