A awesome place , I have been there twice , such a lovely place in a city , it was really exciting to climb the rock and see the whole city from top of the rock , the view of a pond from far away which brought a good view , if can make it fun to climb rather than writing stuff on them and the fence was broken , the children were running I was afraid to see the fence was in a bad state visited on 07/08/2017

Fantastic view. Can see the entire city from the one side. On the top of the hill there is a Buddhist temple with one of a highest Buddha statues in the country. Vehicle accessible road available. There is a foot path and can climb up using that. But in rainy days you should careful by using.

Well worth the 20 minute detour to the top for outstanding views. Unlike many other attractions no hawkers no tourist fees and no crowds. The start of the road up is a little hard to find but good once on it.

Lord Budha's statue is situated on top of the rock along with a Buddhist teaching school for the monks. It is considers to be the highest point in kurunegala which is around 1km long from the town. Driving in rainy season is not recommendded. Road is well constructed and carpetted. But narrow. Many bents are there. In short, if you want to find a peace of mind it is highly recommended to visit and see things from the top. Because things look different when we see from top.
