(Translated by Google) It is said that the wells that were dumped at Valluvanad in Mammankam were massed. History has it that elephants were trampled underfoot by elephants (Original)

(Translated by Google) Maamangkam was a huge riverside festival held once in 12 years on the banks of the Nila. The kings competed with each other as hospitality was a symbol of dignity. Valluvakonathiri's corpses were sent to Thirunavaya in protest against the Zamorin's supremacy. The martyrs fought the Zamorin to avenge their ancestors. * Hour * In this well, the corpses of Valluvanad who died in Mamankam were buried en masse. Legend has it that the corpses were dumped in this well and trampled by elephants! Historical remains of mamangam. This well is believed to be the place where the dead bodies of chavers(soldiers who fought until death) were laid in and bodies have been pressed using elephants. The place is well maintained and protected by archeology department and tourism development board. The place not crowded so every one could go and see.

A historical place related to mamankam. There is a big well here, it is called the manikkinar. The bodies of the dead, during mamamnkam was put into the well and was dipped by using elephants. That is what history says. Means a lot of dead bodies are in that well. There is not much to see, just a big well with a great history behind. It is not at all crowded. It is on the road between tirur and kuttippuram. If you travel by, you can get down and have a look.

Historical place roots to Samarin's Era. The well is used to dump bodies of suicide warriors in Maamaankam

  • 3/5 sunil p. 11 months ago on Google
It is big well in which dead soilders are thrown after mamangam fight. Every 12 years soilders from valluvand comes to kill zamorin of calicut, but they are always defeated by zamorin's soilders and thrown in this well- Manikkinar. It is better compared to other monuments. But there are lots of buildings nearby this structure which drastically reduces the grandeur and great fight which had taken place centuries ago. Archeological department should have taken more lands nearby the monument for developing tourism in malappuram.
