Excellent Presentation of the food.the taste is fine.. but one thing annoyed us some staffs treated us rudely. Just right after served the cake and sang a happy Birthday they asked if we can go as our time is over...... What??? Seriously? Why asked a hot drink if we don't have enough time?🙄 🤷‍♀️

September 2023 A friend recommended this place. We were very interested in the lamb and salmon dishes. Both dishes were very tasty but extremely salty. The wine list was pretty good! We would like to come back and check it one more time.

Such a great place to eat. You can tell they take service to the next level. My first couple experiences were months a go with my girl friends. The crescent shaped seating offers a lot, and opens you up to a lot of the atmosphere of the place. It kind of keeps your conversation open and engaging. Later, I had Tara as a server and legit she ended up being facebook friends with my mom by the end of our dinner. Just the overall service was next level. I got to meet Joan the owner through this experience. Being a photographer it just made me want to take photos of the food. I asked Joan if she would let me and sure enough I came back to take some!

My boyfriend and I went here in January with our parents, and again just a couple weeks ago for our anniversary. Both times we were absolutely blown away by the atmosphere, the food, and the service. In January, we went on a Friday night, and Lovechild doesn't accept reservations for parties under 6 people. We put our name in, went and got a drink elsewhere and about 30 minutes later got a text that our table was ready. It was an extremely comfortable and spacious booth. The drinks were unbelievably delicious! The Espresso Dessert Martini was just incredible. The food is some of the best we had ever had. I got the Parpadelle with Gorgonzola Cream and the others ordered the Braised Beef with Polenta. Everything was incredible! The atmosphere is so pleasant. Its dimly lit with a warm, romantic ambiance. When we went a couple weeks ago, we went on a Monday and got seated immediately in an adorable 2 person both sitting side by side instead of across each other, overlooking the bar. What I really love about this place is that they have separate vegetarian and vegan menus, and they have an extensive mocktail list, which we ordered the mojitos from since we weren't drinking that day. My boyfriend got the lamb and said it was one of the best dishes of his life. Our server was extremely accomodating, knowledgeable, and professional. They really make you feel special when you go there! The portions are plenty big; all of us were stuffed after our entree without any appetizers and didn't have room for dessert. This is definitely our favorite restaurant in La Crosse!

Lovechild is a chic restaurant. Nice for a romantic dinner for 2 or dinner with the family. We were on a recent vacation with our older children and they were impressed with it. The decor is beautiful, lovely hostess stand, and comfy seating area, mood lighting. The service was impeccable and the menu excellent. My husband only drinks NA beer and they had a whole menu devoted to that much to his delight. We all enjoyed the delicious dinner and recommend it highly.

Went to Lovechild after a friend recommended it. I loved the ambiance and the dining couches. It was very romantic. Had great food. The trout was incredible! (We still talk about it 4 months later) We went early, on a weeknight and felt that waiters could have done a better job checking on drinks.

Superb dinner and great service! A bit pricey, but the food was delicious. Had bruschetta, ribeye, lamb shank and blueberry pavlova topped with lemon chantilly. A definite must to dine if you're in the area. Make reservations.

This was my first time at Lovechild. We were celebrating a couple of birthdays. Our server, Garrett, was great. He had a wonderful personality that fit with our table. He was very personable. Garrett took great care of us. We started with the Fries appetizer. They were raved about by a friend and we all enjoyed a taste. The horseradish dipping sauce was delicious. Everyone at our table ordered a different entrée. We had 2 gluten-free diners. Garrett took the time to offer a gluten-free menu and did great at explaining which items came gluten-free, including the chocolate cake on the menu. There was a mix-up with one meal. One diner got their meal after the rest of us were done eating. That meal was not on the bill. Mistakes happen, and we did not ask for a free meal. They just made it right. Everything we exceptional. I was surprised to see so many young employees. They were all great workers. Impressive. The filet was cooked perfectly. Pasta was all amazing. Lamb, chicken thighs, and pork chops were perfectly cooked and delicious as well. Drinks were plentiful and cold. I can now say I have a favorite up-scale dining spot in La Crosse!

Went at 7 on a Friday night. Naturally, it was busy. Went as a date, 2-top. We were 7th in line for a table. Sat at the bar and ordered a bottle of wine and an appetizer. Staff was very attentive and friendly at the bar. Got a text that the table was ready, went to host station and was told to settle up at the bar first which contradicted what we were told at the bar. We transferred our check and appetizer and bottle of wine to the table. The server seemed a little confused. However, we tipped the bartender and continued with dinner The four star rating was due to the server at the table, not being very attentive. Overall food was exceptional Atmosphere was exceptional. A great place to take a date. 5-stars.

I called a week prior to book for a brunch on a Sunday, expecting it to be a popular time hence why I called a week or more in advance. I was flexible with the time so I said any time was fine as long as I was seated in the downstairs garden area. Well the receptionist totally disregarded my request and seated me and my party upstairs in the dark dingy loft. When we arrived there were several empty tables down in the garden that we walked past. After our brunch which lasted about an hour we left and those SAME tables were still empty. I understand you might have had them reserved but its pretty rude to ignore our request and put us in a place that was not inviting when we easily could have sat in the place we wanted and enjoyed our time more. The only reason we booked this venue was for that atmosphere. It was definitely a situation of hurry up eat and go. The food was good so no complaints there but then to top it off there was no parking in next to the restaurant so we parked on the street (not on the verge) and copped a $95 fine from City of Vincent!!! I saw at least 4 other cars had fines too so be very warned if you are going there your brunch can be very costly!!! I wont be in a hurry to go back its just not worth it. And why is the owner always so stroppy?

A picture perfect meal. Environment and location The setting for this beautiful place has an industrial/ romeo and juliet vibe. A dark but romantic place. The location is down town and parking could be found on the street or nearby streets. Get there early to get a space and to get a table. There is a que to get in at 5pm. Service and atmosphere The service was very attentive and friendly. Very informative and knowledgable server. The menu was short and could be done with more on it. Very limited menu especially for vegetarian options. The atmosphere was perfect. Food and drink Mainly a wine bar place they do have a good selection of cocktails and some beers. The food tasted perfect seasoned just enough with just enough sauce. The mimosa drink was delicate. Certainly a place to head to, especially for first dates to anniversaries.

Great lighting and decor. Sound proofing makes it comfortable to have a human conversation (so rare nowadays). Drinks and salad were tasty, but they were out of 2 out of 5 entrees on a Saturday night at 6 pm. Really? Come on. Ample room for improvement.

My sister and I celebrated her Birthday on Saturday night and we were not disappointed. Infact; we look forward to seeing the staff and menu again! Big shout out to the bartender Kayla, our server Brooke, and our new friends, at the bar, Jillian (chef on her day off) plus her sister. The experience was one of best for the two of us. Not only did we get the full treatment of fine dining meals, staff takeout prep, and amazing cocktails; but we also had the opportunity to meet some amazing people. We would like to give a big Thanks for Lovechild giving us a new amazing memory in our family album! Can't wait to visit again ❤

Service was beyond reproach. At the bar and after we were seated. They have an open kitchen with about 10 people working in it. Every plate is individually prepared. They make the best Old Fashioned I have ever had. Prices on the high side but it's a high end restaurant..

Our server, Alex, was awesome. Came across as happy & kind & was very engaging. He was very attentive & the service was not too slow or too fast. It was just right. Alex answered all our questions & knew exactly how to describe every dish. The food tasted very good & everything was seasoned just right. Perfect portions & excellent value for the price. The decor & the lighting were pleasing to our eyes. I posted two negative pictures because the management/owners should pay more attention to furniture. The table top is peeling as you can see & the cushion is worn out. The cushion is less of a problem than the surface used to serve food.

Worth every second of waiting time. We came on Valentines day (why did we not predict this to have been the busiest day of the year for Lovechild? It's the perfect atmosphere after all!) Words do not do justice to our shared experience here. Come here for food you've never tasted before. Everything surrounding the food is heightened with charm!

Went there at 9:15 on a Monday morning and it was already busy, parking was at a premium. We already had a booking which was good because there was a line to get in shortly after we got there. Service was spot on and the staff were really good, it was obvious that they were flat out though. The amount of attention from them was just right. All the meals arrived at the same time and were all really good, serving sizes were good. The atmosphere was different from most other places in Perth, the tropical plants and colourful umbrellas are really refreshing. The only problem that we had was trying to figure out where to pay when we left amongst all the plants and statues. Definitely on the goto list of brunch venues.

Service was horrible. We were expected to leave 90min from our booking. How do you expect customers to enjoy if it takes them 1hr to take orders. Our waitress had an attitude and the face to boot. I ordered waffle and chicken. My waffle was so crispy because it was burnt/black at the bottom. Food was so hard to eat was like cutting through cardboard. Only reason why I gave it 2 stars was because I enjoyed the gin for two. Maybe just less ice next time and little more gin. Unfortunately wouldn't race back

The place are different style from the other cafe and restaurants, it’s more design like Bali with plants and some industrial ceiling design. About the food I should say nice presentation but the food is average and is not something you would like to try times to times. The best part of this cafe is desert and lemon passion fruit gateau and their chocolate desert are perfect, you want it to try them every day also the drinks are amazing I tried the French kiss and it was wonderful.

Amazing experience from start to finish. Perfectly cooked chicken thighs over a velvety deglaze touched with house made croutons & arugula. Can you say comfort food on a silver platter?? My libation was a peppermint martini…my goodness, it was perfectly blended with mint vodka, Godiva white chocolate and finished with a touch of cream. Served in a traditional martini glass rimmed with crushed soft peppermint. Oh & please believe I had dessert…house made apple tart with whipped mascarpone served warm. To top my already spectacular meal off, I got a snapshot of the Co-owner Chef Joan. LoveChild truly lives up to its name. Two Chef’s definitely birthed this beautiful place. See ya again soon! 💕

Amazing food and the ambiance is incredible. Definitely the snazziest place in town and the best food. A great place to celebrate an accomplishment or have a nice group meal or a romantic dinner. The menu changes frequently but has its staples. It’s great to have different choices when I come so I can try new things. The owners are amazing and are usually always there greeting guests and asking how everything is. Delicious cocktails and great options for all kinds of dietary restrictions. They also have a kids menu and amazing desserts.

We arrived, on a whim, at the beginning of dinner service and were seated immediately in an intimate loveseat couch. Our server, Alec, was very kind and attentive. Between him and the rest of the servers, our drinks were kept full and our table clean. I’m typically not one to order the same dish twice because I enjoy trying new things, but at Lovechild I will reorder the lamb spiedini app and roasted chicken thigh main again and again. My husband also swears by the pappardelle with gorgonzola cream sauce as well. Thank you for another wonderful experience. I am counting down the days until I can dine again.

Wonderful experience, excellent atmosphere! Starter: Triple Cooked Fries with Horseradish Sauce - fries are HUGE! Entree: Mezze Rigatoni, outstanding dish... was told, after I finished, that half the fun was stuffing the (outstanding) sausage into the rigatoni and eating 😁 Service: Kayla was an outstanding bartender and very attentive server (my glass was always full!). Bonus: What a wine selection!

The food and atmosphere were wonderful. Made a reservation for a party of 10 plus 3 children and were given a really nice table and even a small side table for children, the kids were treated really well and attended to like they were adults. One member of our party had a food allergy to onion and garlic, and they were not only able to easily accommodate the allergy with one of their normal dishes with just slight changes, she even thought it was some of the best fish she had ever had. All the food was amazing and the service was wonderful, had the braised lamb and it was so good.

This restaurant is AMAZING! We hosted a very special combined birthday celebration for my parents in a beautiful private room. On this night, we had kind/attentive staff, incredible food (ALL of it) and a lovely setting filled with candles and flowers. Joan helped us make this night truly spectacular. She expertly guided us in our decision making. As a result, this event truly exceeded my expectations. I wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant.

First time in La Crosse and my wife and in were looking for a nice place for date night on the way back from our vacation. Couldn't have been happier with our choice. Everything we ordered was excellent. The service was top notch, incredibly helpful and friendly. We started out with the Grilled lamb spiedini, harissa, yogurt, salsa verde. Flavors were good, the yogurt was a nice balance. I had the Steak al limone, charred broccoli with garlic soffritto, black rice. Steak was tender, flavorful, and done just right. I also enjoyed my sides. My wife got the Catalan-style baked Halibut with tomato, olives, potatoes and chorizo. She loved it! Thought the halibut was great and really enjoyed the olives too. For dessert we got Portuguese cinnamon-sugar doughnuts, lemon curd. The doughnuts were light and fluffy, a great end to the meal. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for a nice dining experience in the area. Would definitely come back!

The owner’s have found the perfect balance of great food, drink, staff, and pricing. The atmosphere is really unique whether you sit at a table or sit at the bar. The mixologists aren’t just bartenders, they are their to enhance your experience. Their Butter Washed Old Fashioned is an experience unto itself. We started with the Spiedini and bread, then savored the chicken thighs and the lamb shank. The mixologist took the time to open a bottle of Luccarelli to give me a sample. She nailed it. It was perfectly paired with the lamb. A friend recommended the Portuguese Doughnuts. These aren’t your typical doughnuts by any stretch and the lemon curd was prepared perfectly - outstanding choice. These service and the food were outstanding without breaking the bank. Eating out isn’t cheap these days so to find a restaurant that has found the balance is tops in my dining book. Keep up the good work Lovechild! By the way we spent three hours enjoying the company and savoring the restaurant’s offerings.

This is probably one of our favorite places to eat in La Crosse. The ambience is great. Service is always wonderful and the food never disappoints. The grilled lamb spiedini, triple-cooked french fries and spaghetti with shrimp and arugula and the ribeye are our usuals. The seasonal salads are always good as well! We honestly have tried almost everything on the menu and there’s maybe only a couple items we weren’t super in love with. Desserts are always delicious and a must as well!

My partner and I decided to go out for dinner and drinks for Valentine’s. This was our second experience at Lovechild and we had pretty high expectations as the first visit and food was nothing short of spectacular. We arrived at 4:30pm and there was already a line, but thankfully we were able to be seated right away when they opened at 5pm. We ordered three appetizers, the hamachi crudo, poached pear endive salad, and the triple cooked French fries with horseradish cream. The fish was clean and beautifully sliced. There was a crunchy topping that was not mentioned on the menu, but it was delicious all the same whatever it was. The salad left something to be desired. There were hardly any walnuts to be found and that the beautiful Bohemian Blue sheep’s milk cheese was used so sparingly. Too sparingly. For the fries, if you love wedge potatoes, these were meant for you, but a slight warning on the horseradish cream. It may just completely clean out your senses. Quick side note: the service was immaculate and the server, attentive, and very friendly. For our entrees, we decided to get the Mezze rigatoni and the sautéed trout with warm potato salad. We had ordered the pappardelle last time, so we expected the other pasta dish to be up to par, but it was just a very ordinary dish. It needed more. More pasta, more sauce, some fresh herbs, and served with warm bread. The trout on the other hand was perfection. The capers, the lemon, the sear, and crispy skin. It was a delight to devour that plate. Lastly, disaster, I mean dessert. We decided on the citrus crème brûlée and the Portuguese donuts served with lemon curd. The crème brûlée was and is a classic that included a couple pieces of biscotti on the side. My partner went ahead for the donuts while I enjoyed the custard and tried the lemon curd and that is when things went, well sour. I tried it myself and I completely lost my appetite. It tasted spoiled and unnatural and I was not able to finish dessert. We asked for our server to take the curd away and even though we did not ask, she also took it off our check. Our first experience I rated Lovechild five stars. This time, it was three, so I’m giving four stars between the two.

The restaurant is very nicely decorated and the seating is quite comfortable. My friend and I each had an appetizer and an entree. We had the beet salad and lamb appetizers. The lamb was nicely spicey and very nicely cooked. The beet salad had very nice light flavors, they worked well together. The entrees were the sea bass and the lamb, both were cooked very well and delicious. As a bonus they had Blanton's which is not common. Our waiter was attentive for the most part. The only reason for not giving 5 stars was when we arrived, it took quite some time to be acknowledged let alone seated. We almost left, I am glad we didn't. I will go back if I am in the area again.

Not only does Lovechild have magnificent food and drinks; but the staff is so wonderful. The owner is easily the sweetest lady. I have never had an experience that didn’t exceed my expectations!

Lovechild is an absolute gem to the La Crosse area. After having tasted a lot of the menu since they have opened, I asked the owners to take a few photos, hope you enjoy!

I've revised my review from a 1 star to a 3 star. We had attempted to order dinner using a gift card and were initially told the card would be accepted. After we had read the entire order and card number to the staff member she then told us they would not honor our gift card during the COVID-19 pandemic. While we fully understand companies have different policies in regards to their handling of dining in and curbside pick up during these uncertain times; we believe there should be something stating that gift cards will not be honored for the foreseeable future, whether that's on their website or making that clear at the time of purchase. That will help others who are potentially thinking about purchasing a gift card make a more informed decision. I have no doubt that the food is great and the service is as well, we've never been disappointed when dining there in the past and Joan was quick to reach out to me to work together on a solution. I appreciate her for that and her openness after we were declined to use the gift card.

Excellent food, cocktails and customer service... One of our favorites

  • 5/5 Dan 3 years ago on Google
The atmosphere and food is always spot on. Minus the expense of wine or drinks the cost of a multi-course meal is very competitive. The only marked complaint is that they don’t take reservations, however there is most always room at the bar where food is also served. The only sure way of scoring a table is to be there right when they open for dinner which is 5 p.m. What brings us back repeatedly is the quality of the food and a full wine list, a winning combination. Though the menu does not change much the chef’s style shine through every bite! We highly recommend you try Lovechild.

Still love Lovechild. It had been a while, and I was so glad to find the same quality and fun vibe. The folks working at Lovechild seem to genuinely be enjoying themselves. I guess it's fun to serve great drinks and delicious food.

La Crosse is lucky to have this restaurant in town! Every experience has been amazing. Even with a limited menu there's something for everyone and it's all delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Also, Jesse is the best server in town!

Absolutely wonderful atmosphere... And the fact that the place used to be at Hooters makes it so much better. Definitely try the diabolica margarita, and while I didn't have any of the entrees the bruschetta and the desserts were just top-notch. It is hard for me to think that the entrees would be anything less than spectacular. I'm definitely going back. The wait staff were very attentive without being hovering, which definitely assisted with the casual yet beautiful atmosphere. Definite recommendation!

  • 1/5 Anthony E. 3 years ago on Google
Nice environment, if you like waiting 60min for food while you look at 6 workers on standby, literally standing behind a table in front of the kitchen, chatting and joking. I arrived at 6pm, asked about food at 645pm, left at 715pm with a TO-GO box. They were still standing there when I left. Will not revisit establishment.

  • 2/5 Lannie S. 3 years ago on Google
The food was great but have to give 3 stars due to price for what you get. No sides, no salad, no bread and oil. Update: the more i thought about it i decided to drop it to a 2 star. For the price the food should wow you. It was good but nothing amazing. Braised beef was like home cooked roast beef. Scallops were great but way over salted. It was disappointing after hoping for a nice meal for date night. If you read the owners responses, everything is a fake review and considered bullying. I think they need to take some responsibility and be able to handle bad reviews and work to make it better instead of excuses. A lot of potential here but only if the owner wants to.

Went this morning for brunch. I’m glad that we made a reservation before hand because there was a queue to get in. Despite being so busy, we received exceptional service and the food arrived fast. My French toast was delicious- I would return here.

First time here and can’t believe I have never heard of it or been before - such atmosphere and just an interesting place to eat. The bloody Mary’s are great and so is the mulled wine - best I’ve had ins while. Food was good, service was good and friendly. Food was well priced and tasted good, the curry was great. A negative would have to be the lack of parking - took a while as I parked down a road opposite the restaurant near a child care centre - had to walk - was welcomed after the meal to settle the food and drink.

It’s a little paradise that makes you feel like you’re on a holiday on a tropical island. Ambience is fantastic. Staff are super friendly and attentive. And the food... oh my the food... super delicious. Possibly book ahead of you go and be aware that parking can sometimes be hard to find.

Fantastic food and relaxed service. Could do with a misting system for humid days. We had planned to have a lovely long day only to be told, before eating, that they now have a 2 hour table time limit. I wasn't told this when I booked and there was no apology for that info not being relayed. I don't have a problem with 2 hours, I just needed to know at time of booking by phone. I would have booked elsewhere.

Breakfast was good. However, half the mushrooms were less cooked than others. Service is nothing to write home about. I was stunned that waiting staff who ‘circled’ our table , did not seem in a rush to clear the plates promptly! Decor was great !

Best high tea experience in Perth. You have to book in advance, as they’re quickly full. The service is exceptional, the staff are so pleasant. Throughout the high tea we were ensured that our tea and coffee were topped up. The food was fantastic quality, with great flavours and variety. Usually high tea offers the typical cakes and finger sandwiches, however at Chinta you get sliders and baos. You leave the experience feeling satisfied and full, rather than wanting more. I highly recommend the high tea experience. The atmosphere is great to spend time with friends and family for a good chat too. Price is reasonable. Parking is easily accessible, however you need to be lucky to grab a spot.

We were seated in a side room that was very dark. The waitress/waiters were very friendly and nice. We went on a Saturday night and the wait was really long. The chicken sauce wasn’t good and the pasta was okay. Fancy place, wouldn’t go again.
