We loved this place! My sister and I made a two person team and played two rooms! The Deserted Island room- so cool with real sand floor- we made it out with 18 min to spare! And Prison Break- this one challenged us, but we completed it with 4:59 left! Our game master Robert was so kind and helpful! Definitely a place to check out when you want a fun afternoon!

My husband, daughter and I tried an escape room for the first time this past weekend. When we entered Nick greeted us and showed us a short video of what to expect. We were then taken to the room and given the story of what was taken place. We did (not me!) Ok for the first time, especially since Nick said Prison Break was one of the harder ones. We were far from finishing but he made us feel better! It was a lot of fun and we plan on going back in a few months, but trying an easier one! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. We highly recommend La Crosse Escape room!

Great experience. The rooms are super fun and put together very well. The place is clean and the employees are really friendly and super helpful. The prices are very reasonable and comparable to other escape room locations. We've done two of the four rooms available and have loved both of them. We plan to do the other two and continue to do more as they're changed out.

Izzy was a great game master! We have done quite a few rooms across the country and this was one of our favorites. They squeezed us in last minute. The room was difficult but was well done with really fun puzzles!

  • 5/5 Tessa M. 6 months ago on Google
Our game master was super good to us and was very patient. She did a wonderful job walking us through all of the steps and was very easy to get along with. The escape room itself was also very fun and I would come back again.

Have done multiple of their escape rooms over the past 5 years and have loved all of them! The theming and complexity of the rooms is off the charts. It's a favorite activity of my group of friends every time we are in town now. Have never been disappointed and excited to go back and try new ones!

Great family fun! We did the Deserted Island room. It was challenging but not impossible or too easy. Highly recommend.

We had a great experience! This was our first time doing an escape room. Nick was informative and so helpful during our first experience. We will definitely be back to try a different room!

Nick was very informed and helpful. He answered all of our questions before and after completing the escape room. He definitely made the experience and you could tell nick really enjoyed his job. Would 100% return!!

Excellent experience! I am very claustrophobic, but wanted to try this. They do everything to make you feel comfortable and our game master gave amazing clues to keep us going in the right direction! We definitely needed our 3 hints too! So fun, extremely creative, highly recommend!!

Leela was a really helpful and enthusiastic GM for our experience with the Prison Break room. Great quality escape room and a fun challenge! Would definitely recommend this spot and hope to come back to play a different puzzle.

This was so fun but we weren’t very good at it. I liked how we seemed to get clues at the perfect time…right before we got super irritated. We’ll be back next time for the easier room.

Highly recommend this escape room! We have done 3 others, and we thought this one was the best we've seen, with creative puzzles and room features, and a back story that was really integrated into the room. Our game master Nick was so helpful and explained things really well. We did the Bootleggers Pub (and escaped!), and we will definitely return to try another room!

We came for a birthday party for a 13 year old girl, and all of the girls had so much fun! Sara was an amazing game master, and helped with clues enough but not too much. The girls were proud of themselves for solving it! Planning the party was so easy - the party room and all the details were well taken care-of. We all can't wait to try another room!

I thought an escape room would be really fun to do while visiting La Crosse for the first time! I brought my brother and his fiancé and we had a great time. The lobby is clean and full of cute riddles. Our game master was Robert, and he was lovely! He was very hospitable and charismatic, and he was there to kindly guide us if we ever got stuck and asked for help. We did the Deserted Island room, which had a nice balance of clever puzzles and aesthetic on-theme details. Lots of fun. Definitely glad I came, won't ever forget it. Thank you :)

The new Home Alone escape room is fantastic! Lots of fun details from the movie, and some really fun tasks! I took a group of 11 and 12 year old boys, and they loved it! Great group experience! Can't wait to come back and do another room!

The new Home Alone themed Escape Room was awesome! Being familiar with Home Alone is helpful but definitely not a requirement. You can tell so much time and effort went into creating this Room. It's a great way to get into the Holiday Spirit, ya filthy animal!

This was a great experience that my family and I absolutely loved! The owner was very thorough in explaining the rules and procedures of the room. The place was clean and safe for COVID times as we were allowed to reserve the room for just our family rather than being put with strangers. We did the Serial Killer room and the itself had great props! There were several puzzles and locks with differing levels of difficulty. We “escaped” with three people but utilized 59 of the 60 minutes so it might have been easier with more people. Overall, it was an incredible experience that we would do again!

  • 5/5 Ashley H. 1 year ago on Google
We had such a great time escaping the serial killer! The game master was very kind and a great sport with our motley crew. We will absolutely be coming back again!

We had a great time and Keaton was amazing and so patient of our inability to figure some things out. We were actually closer to escaping than we thought, however not sure that would've been the case without the nudging of our secret agent Keaton. Thanks for the fun

Great experience as a it was our first time. Staff explained directions well and were very helpful! We had so much fun and plan to try other one soon!

Had an amazing time with my group of friends and especially the person leading our room. Carson did an also amazing job leading me and my group of friends through our first escape room and series of challenges we were over looking to lead us into the right direction. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to have a fun night out and a night of challenges.

BEST PLACE. I went with my girls there at the new location at valley valley view mall and we did the 50s diner. It was so fun and amazing. It was a hard one for us but it was sure a hell of a fun experience. The employee was also very nice and sweet there. Would go there again 100%. Best thing ever.

Wonderful experience! My daughter celebrated her 11th birthday at the new location in mall. Her friends had a blast in the 50s diner room. The party package included everything -escape room tickets, pizza, bottled water, plates, utensils. I only needed to bring cupcakes! The event room was nicely decorated with plenty of seating and included a refrigerator to store drinks, cake, etc. Erik and staff were excellent to work with and very responsive to questions. Highly recommend!

For point of reference our family has done approximately a dozen or so escape rooms and this was our first room at La Crosse Escape Room. We did the Bootleggers room this last weekend and had a great time. Some of the puzzles were so well done and overall there's a great mix of red herrings to useful items. I would suggest that the room is a bit better off for smaller groups though as once you get about half way done it gets a bit linear. With a group of 7 like ours we often had people standing around as it became one puzzle leads to another and you can only have so many people working on a puzzle at a time. Overall though, it was very enjoyable.

It was a lot of fun, got some sand in my shoe but loved the experience, thank you Nick for saving us from ourselves

Full disclosure, I manage an escape room in St. Paul, Minnesota that is not affiliated with La Crosse Escape Rooms at all. The following has some details of the puzzles in the room, but no spoilers. I've played most (if not all) of the rooms that they've ever had there dating back to 2017. Originally I was disappointed by the lack of technology and some of the puzzles were a stretch. But lately I've been pretty impressed with their Prison Break, Deserted Island, and Bootlegger's Pub rooms. In all fairness escape rooms have come a long way since 2017, so it's not surprising that the rooms had worse quality initially. In fact, it shows a quality business to keep improving and evolving!! My 5 Star Rating reflects those improvements. One of the biggest enjoyments is that the employees here are always energetic and fun. I enjoyed the riddles in the lobby as well. It's been a bit since I've played Prison Break and Deserted Island, but I only remember great things. Deserted Island is still one I talk about as a favorite room. The set design for that room is phenomenal and very unique (in the best way). The puzzles feel like a perfect complexity. They make you think, struggle, and then have that 'oh duh' moment. Bootlegger's Pub also had an amazing set design. Everything was extremely authentic. The puzzles in Bootlegger's Pub seemed to disappoint a bit compared to the amazing experiences in Prison Break and Deserted Island, but were still a huge step up from their earlier rooms. My biggest issue was some thematic distractions that walked the line between red herrings and set design authenticity. The surprise way of starting the room out was fun as well. I enjoyed some of the very clever puzzles. It overall was a fun room. I have edited my original review to reflect some of the really positive communication I've had with the owner. He seemed very receptive to my thoughts and I also found out a couple of my earlier issues with the Bootlegger's Pub were due to unfortunate rare room malfunctions or player error of things my group and I didn't pick up on. :) If you have to make a choice and can only play one or two rooms, then stick to the Deserted Island or Prison Break rooms, but you should really try to play them all. I am really excited for the new location at the Valley View Mall that they are opening up.

We had a blast at the new Valley View Mall location. We’re well versed in escape rooms, and The Diner was constructed very well. It even had a personal touch! Can’t wait to go back!

We brought our visiting family members in. We didn't succeed, but we had a great time trying. The owner went way out of his to make our visit a great time. We'll be back.

We had a great time at La Crosse Escape room! The host was so good at explaining everything and he made it fun! Also love that its in a historic building. We will be back!

A great afternoon of fun for the family. The host did an excellent job and made it enjoyable for everyone! Highly recommend!

The deserted island room was very fun and unique! However, the game master did not seem exceptionally welcoming or happy to be at work. She even told us we'd ruin her day if we misused a prop. It also got very loud and hard to hear both the game master and our own group when a different group showed up for a different room reservation.

Just did the Bootleggers Pub Room with a group of friends. The experience in it was great. The room decor was really well done. The puzzle to get out the room was challenging , but fun. You even get a beer to enjoy to give you the true pub experience! I would highly recommend this room to anybody to try!

  • 5/5 Maggie K. 2 years ago on Google
I have done all the rooms there and am always excited when a new one comes out! Erik and the staff have always been great. I just had the opportunity to do the new Bootleggers pub room and it was AMAZING! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new room to do. It felt so authentic, the set up alone was incredible. This was an engaging room and we had 6 of us, and all felt like we contributed! (Plus a free beer to go along with the theme of the room for those who wanted one- what a neat idea to offer that!)
