Overall our experience of the bay was very positive and we really enjoyed our time there. The location right by the sea is fantastic, the hotel and rooms are stylish and the breakfast was great. The only negative was our lunch on the first day. I ordered a tuna wrap which, according to the menu, had tuna, chilli, lemon, coriander and wasabi. All the other ingredients were missing except for the tuna. I had a discussion with the staff, but it was pointless.

Popped in for a lunch at the restaurant bordering the sea. Stunning views. Lovely relaxed chill vibe. They have a really nice tapas menu. The chicken samoosa was delicious. Plus we tried the crispy calamari , cheese and corn samoosa and the Tuna tartare. The toast served with the tartare was very hard. Had some poke bowls for main that were lively fresh and delicious. I also had a seared tuna burger. The burger could be elevated with a nice Thai sauce I think. Service was prompt as we arrived and food came out quick. But they were slow to clear the table and offer follow up drinks and coffees. Was strange as it was not busy with only 2 tables. Luckily the amazing view distracts. Will definetly go back again.

The Bay is a charming little 3* hotel. The good bits: beautiful setting, right on the beach, well appointed for the price. The pool is small but perfectly nice, clean and did not feel chlorinated, perfect for a dip after soaking up the sun. The reception staff are very helpful and welcoming and the rooms are great for a 3*. And cleaned daily to a good standard. Air con works brilliantly and the balcony has a wonderful veiw of the pool, restaurant and ocean beyond. The restaurant serves a wide variety of food with many veggie and vegan options and the lunch, evning meals and cocktails we had were very good, and to a higher standard then we were expecting. Highlights included giant prawns, cheese samosas and a delicious burger. Bad bits: patchy service at the restaurant, seems to be many staff but they are not particularly attentive, especially by the pool area where we waited for a very long time for service and for the items to be delivered. Breakfast, not as good as lunch or dinner, variable quality, sometimes over seasoned, items missing from orders and communication issues between the serving staff and the kitchen. Definitely can't deal with personalised menu requests. Some finer cleaning details need polishing up. Overall though would happily recommend, we had a very nice time and the price is right for what you get. Represents great value

The Bay, A good hotel with a bad service. The hotel is very nice well situated with plenty shops and restaurants around. The room is very nice with everything and as for the cleanliness is a 11 out of 10 A++ for this. The staff in general is ok and helpful except for the people working in the restaurant in the morning they are pretty bitter and quite untrained (1H for pasta). Be aware the pictures of the hotel make it look way bigger thant it is the pool is pretty small and the beach is very small and will be flooded at high-tide making it unusable in the morning, quite a problem if you wanna sunbathe. 9 out of 10 for this hotel Just don't eat in it you will be disappointed

Overpriced restaurant with cheap ingredients but expensive prices. Tourist trap mostly. We would love to give it another chance if the menu changes and is priced according to quality. Service was good though.

GREAT restaurant. The perfect balance between comfortable and chic. The best atmosphere in Mauritius for a casual yet impressive dinner. Stunning view for a dinner on the beach. Good value for money.

Beautiful little hotel. Perfect location. Great view of the ocean. Unfortunately the service is terrible. The staff need to be trained. The quality of the food is also not up to standard. We ordered meals and they were served to us with flies sitting on it. When pointed out to the waitress she ignored us. We asked for the manager about 5 times she never came. We had to get up from the table to address the manager. Who was more aggressive than helpful. We asked if they could put candles on the table or turn the fan on as the flies were all around us and the food we could not eat in peace as we had to keep chasing flies away. Candles came about 30min later and were not working they were almost burnt out(finished). Our meals took a very long time to arrive and our starters (samosas) and meze platter arrived when we were nearly done with our main meals. My daughter did not touch her meal as there were too many flies sitting on it when it arrived. It is such a pity that this beautiful establishment will loose so many customers due to their poor service.

Restaurant has a nice atmosphere with beach views. Bread served as appetizer was not fresh/dried out. We ordered a Fish and coconut curry. It was not flavourful, lacked spices and did not have any taste of coconut. Meanwhile, the accompaniments were way too salty to consume. I couldn't eat the meal. My guest had the Tuna burger which she appreciated. Feedback was personally conveyed to the manager but he did not offer any replacement or apologies for the food which was disappointing. The parking lot is small which doesn't cater for an appropriate amount of cars. We had to park on the side street. Overall, would think twice before visiting again.

Excellent location. We've been there with a day pass to access the pool and the beach. People are very welcoming and great atmosphere to chill.

Best hidden secret in Tamarin! Stunning beachfront boutique hotel with ocean front restaurant! Great cocktails and incredible sundowners! My favourite place to be in Mauritius!

I just walked with my partner on the beach and decided to drink a coffee - it was expensive and not tasty. With 1 desert and capuchino, latte we paid over 15€

Stay was okay, hotel staff is really nice and goes over and beyond. But the restaurant has horrible service. Bacon and eggs at breakfast were burnt . The pork belly at supper (13/01/22) was so burnt as well. We told the waiter who called the manager. Manager (Alfi) brought the food back to us and told us that it was meant to be like that. We showed him how burnt it was but he disregarded our views and left the plate with us. Would definitely not recommend this place

There is no doubt that the position and view of the Restaurant is first-class, and it makes such a great place for sundowners, a cold beer watching the sunset here is great. It's a small place, with a small pool, and not too much parking, the staff all seem to be young students from overseas, and try very hard to please, although a bot of training wouldn't go amiss. BUT...... the place has one bad fault, the quality of the actual food it serves. It really seems that "profit" and "budget" come first. The last three times I've visited, (one with family, twice with business associates) the portion have been small, and not very well prepared. Steak is low quality, prawns dry and overcooked, the curry tasteless, and calamari tough. It such a great spot, and a few people have told me that they also put up with the food due to the excellent position. A food upgrade would make the place the best place for ten miles in either direction.

Haven't tried the hotel but the restaurant is great: perfect location on the beachfront and very nice atmosphere.

I was just there to have cocktails at the terrace. The cocktails were awful. Tetra pack juice with cheap alcohol. Unable to finish because of the amount of sugar and cheap alcohol.

Good food, but certain staffs needs more training, be more welcoming and smile more. Certain staffs talking about customers behind their back which is clearly visible, especially if they are foreigners, which doesn't look professional at all. I really hope this place becomes more authentic with regards to customer service instead of just pretending to care for their customers. (07/08/21)

I called to book a table for 10 and someone named Ashley did say yes and the moment we call back to add 2 more seats, he clearly did not want to listen to us and decline our request. This was an issue as we said to everyone that it was fine for 10pax. We wanted to celebrate a birthday and clearly this place is not very welcoming. Very poor customer service

Overhyped ! We were rushed to take seats and order food since they had 2 service schedule (18h and 21h) and could potentially lose our reservations otherwise since they seem to favor tourists over locals . Fortunately they had mireille on their team who was very professional and courteous . She brillantly assisted to ease this stressful experience. The food didn't make up for it either . Price to quality ratio is supbar.

I was disappointed with my chicken udon noodle soup. There was no chicken in it and it was tasteless. But there was a great ambiance, beautiful restaurant and nice beach with nice service from all the staff.

Lovely colonial setting with pool and beach combinations . Restaurant food was a huge combination of vegan and creole and western choices. Fabulous sunset and quaint deck to watch the sunset

Great hotel with beautiful furnished rooms. Book the Seaview one! 5 stars! Limited availability of beach chairs and very less umbrellas at the pool. Snorkeling equipment for free. Book the dolphin tour via the hotel. It’s amazing. The waitresses in the restaurant (and the restaurant itself) are not the same standard as the hotel. Food is overcooked or underseasoned. Portions vary a lot. Some of the Waitresses seemed to be in a bad mood. Furthermore the placement is really strict and Hotel residents get kicked out from the pool area to have externals sitting there and enjoying their sundowner. To sum it up: we loved the hotel, but the restaurant needs a little kick or better take the next step.

Stayed 2 nights in a room on the ground floor with a small garden. When we checked-in, we saw ants all over the room. On the floor, bathroom, even on the walls… We requested to change the room, but they couldn't do it. They did a detailed cleaning on the second day, but the next morning the ants started to come again.😕 However, you can choose The Bay's restaurant to watch the wonderful sunsets, it is an ideal location to see the sky in magnificent colors. We've had our cocktails and wait the amazing sunset!🌅 One comment for the bar, cocktails could be more strong… Unfortunately, I cannot give full points to the accommodation but it's a must to see a sunset in here! 👌🏼

Best location in Tamarin for dinner or drinks right on the beach. Affordable delicious food, recommend the Tuna or Beef Burger. Suitable for Kids but not people with disabilities. No need to book in advance or make reservation but would recommend a table close to beach

Very nice hotel at an exceptional location. It is by a nice beach and has amazing view at the sunset. It is also in walking distance with some shops and restaurants. The staff are very polite and professional and Emilie from the reception was just a star! She helped with anything we needed, providing information and helping us book some of the activities we did during our stay. The biggest opportunity for improvement is the variety of options for the breakfast.

A gem of a local venue. Beautiful views and a calm atmosphere make The Bay Hotel a great place to sit and literally soak up the views and sunshine while indulging in tasty tapas as well as a cocktail or two

A Nice place to be, very relaxing, food are delicious and I’m always happy with services but the only point I’m not happy is that the restaurants and bar close very early at night. I want to come more often for dinner at The Bay, but when I realize they close early I hesitate. Hope they will change the closing time.

Fantastic experience from start to finish at the Bay. Super professional and an absolutely stunning view, especially from the ocean view rooms. Relaxed atmosphere, beautiful interior design and a friendly owner.

We were so happy due to the helpful service of Aurelie and her husband, they really surprised us with the stay in their hotel (2014 & 2017). Very kind staff, breakfast and location. We had the best view for the sunset, from our room, while we were on bed drinking a cocktail from the restaurant. Very romantic and paradise on earth. Food was very good and staff was so delightful! Kind and professional people, and we miss Mauritius even more because of them.
