A cozy restaurant that serves delicious food that tastes like home. We have visited Dakshin several times and enjoyed their delicious and crispy dosa, chai as well as their desserts. The cakes are so light, you don't feel like you've sinned on a dessert and yet your palate will be delighted and leave your heart feeling full. Check out their weekend special menus where they cook out of menu items. We had a bite of Hyderabadi chicken biryani as part of a special menu and it was delicious 😋

One of the finest South Indian restaurants we have came across in mclodganj and Dharamshala, they serve authentic south Indian food we tried podi plain dosa, idli, filter coffee and tea and everything was amazing

Honestly can't recommend this place more. Limited menu but authentic taste and that’s too at very attractive prices.

LISTEN! You need to visit this place. They have the best dosa. Cooked in Ghee and you’re gonna lick your fingers. The prices are too affordable and the place is so so welcoming. The drinks are just fabulous - from ginger chai to rosemary tea! And desserts, oh my my! The lady who runs this is a true artist! Welcoming with happy smiles and collecting stories! Come here and you will thank me!

Visited South Indian Cafe Dakshin in Dharamshala and tried their masala dosa. The dosa was crispy and well-prepared, and the sambar tasted good with proper flavor, which made the meal enjoyable. The coconut chutney was average and could be improved a bit in taste. Cafe felt slightly congested, as handicraft and food are sold in the same space, which affects the overall dining comfort. They charge extra for extra sambar.

I can’t really put into words how good the food here is! A small cozy place, lovely hosts and such amazing dosas and paniyarams. The cheese filled ones are a must try! The food is also priced so well, it feels like I’m cheating. Thank you Manjiri for opening up this beautiful space for us to enjoy regularly!

Recommended by a colleague, we planned a brunch at this place. Food is good. Loved the dakshin platter. The Pongal was equally wonderful. Warm and friendly staff. Seating is okay. Should you move with a group of 4, there's a single table for you. Couples have better options. Seating is one thing they can work upon.

Dakshin by Indi-genous is a gem. Located in a prime location - exactly opposite to the Gyuto Monastery (below the Samsung Service Center), it definitely helps us break free from the 'Dharamshala doesn't have good South Indian food places' myth. At least it did that for me. The owners and staff are so warm and welcoming with their bright, big smiles. So much so, that after I visited this place with my friends the previous weekend but couldn't eat anything because I was already full except a single oreo chocolate ball, I returned to Dakshin with my family to eat their ghee masala podi dosa. I am sure it's going to become my "when in doubt, come to Dakshin" spot.

It's the best south indian food cafe in dharamshala. Crispy Dosa is my fav, drinks such as kokam & others are refreshing The food is delicious & the founder and staff are amazing host. A must visit cafe , opposite Gyoto Monestry.

We enjoyed our first experience at Dakshin. The place has a warm and welcoming ambience. And is very tastefully done. The food is very good, authentic South Indian, fresh and hygienic. There is also a personal touch to the cooking. The owners personally manage the kitchen which makes a lot of difference in the dining experience. If you are looking for an authentic South Indian cuisine in Dharamshala, we would highly recommend Dakshin.

Authentic and delicious food made with attention and love. The podi Masala Dosa with the coconut chutney was out of this world. The idlis were soft and tasty. The orange cake was top drawer too. Place was very hygienic and immaculate. Love it when small businesses have soul. MUST VISIT.

Amazing food great service

We visited this place on the recommendation of my sister-in-law, who lives in Dharamshala. We ordered uttapam and paniyaram, and they were absolutely delicious. As a South Indian, I can confidently say the food felt very authentic. I would also like to specially mention their Sunday special gongura chicken it was incredibly tasty and one of the best chicken dishes I’ve had in a long time. It truly felt like home-cooked food. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for authentic South Indian food in Dharamshala.

The best South Indian food in the larger Dharamshala area. Excellence food, highly recommend the Podi Dosa, Paniyaram and Podi Idli. Fresh, homemade and cooked in delicious ghee! Also highly recommend the desserts and coffee. Thank you for the beautiful meal!

As someone who's very picky about South Indian food, this place truly impressed me. The idlis were soft, the dosa was beautifully crispy, and the uttapam was delicious.What truly stood out was the warmth of the lady there despite the cold outside, she immediately offered us warm water, and that small gesture meant a lot. Plus she has the cutest smile.Such kindness paired with great food makes this place special. I'll definitely be coming back

This cafe feels like home. Freshly made dosas and idlis every time. Perfectly balanced flavours. The sambar is delicious and the chutney is spot on. You can really taste the quality and care in the food. The atmosphere is very beautiful and relaxing. Highly recommended. Filter coffee, Podi idli and podi dosa.
