One of the more secluded beaches in the southern coast, Jungle Beach is an idyllic stretch of golden sands that allow you to admire the grandeur of the Rumassala Hill on one side, and the stunning Indian Ocean on the other. Ideal after a trek to Rumassala Hill, make your way to Jungle Beach to shake off the humidity and heat. Wade and weave through a thick jungle before finding the enticing blue waters and warm golden sands. A refreshing swim before heading back to one of our Taru Villas properties in Galle Fort will be ideal for your beach holiday. Jungle Beach is located in proximity to the Japanese Peace Pagoda. The beach is 15 minutes away from our villas in Galle Fort - whether you’re staying at Seventy 7 at Leyn Baan, Lighthouse Street or Rampart Street. From the beach, it is possible to view the Galle Fort in the distance Snorkelling and diving are possible water activities to engage in here. There are top notch resorts and cabins at Jungle Beach furnished with plush amenities and offering you a tranquil retreat amidst the jungle settings. The resorts and cabins have private walkways which will lead you to the calm shoreline caressed by the lapping waves of the Indian Ocean. You can savour traditional Sri Lankan cuisine in a communal restaurant or enjoy private dining on a beachside restaurant. In a nutshell, Jungle Beach is the place which awaits you to explore its hidden treasure and spend your vacation in style and luxury.

A beautiful beach situated in Galle, near Rumassala sanctuary. Popular among local and foreign travelers for its unique location. Good and safe place for swimming with shallow waters but you have to be careful for stormy seasons & sudden climate changes! Disappointed to see the works of "some" mad & disgusted people who ruined the beauty of this place by heaping plastics and polythene everywhere!!! It's your duty and responsibility to keep your own garbage with yourself as civilized men in the society. Here are few snaps of mine to make memories of this wonderful site.

My favorite beach in Sri Lanka so far. This is what you imagine when hearing about a tropical beach: cristal clean water, golden sand and palm trees all around. As the road there is not very accessable to everyone, the beach does not have all those fancy restaurants like in Mirissa. This is an awesome place to swim, snorkel, drink coconut and relax. )))

Nice beach with crystal blue water. It's clean and calm. If you stay in Galle, this is where you should be if you want to stay at the beach. It's a bit to rocky beneath the water, but good enough for swimming. Well, comparing to a small beach in the Galle Fort, this is much better. You can order some drinks here too

Beautiful beach with crystal blue water. It's clean and calm. If anyone stay in Galle, this is the place where you should be if you want to stay at the beach. It's good enough for swimming. When walking to this beach some paths feel like a hiking experience. From the Galle Fort you can take any matara side bus and then you have to walk or take three wheel from there, this is much better beach. Boat services also available here. You can order some drinks too.

Nice stretch of beach. Popular among tourists that visit Galle. If you travel by a car better to park at the Rumassala temple and walk to the beach. Because the road is not in the best condition. Bikes can reach close to the beach but still then it is better to park at the temple and walk the rest of the way. The walk from the temple is about 5-10 minutes through a small jungle area. The beach was clean when we visited. A safe place to swim even for kids and a nice surrounding for some great pictures. Highly recommended. There are stalls along the way to buy pickle, roti and coconut.

Disgusting beach, the water in the bay isn't clean as it's located in Galle bay, the water has a green colour, the view from the beach is of Galle industry, and the tourist made it their garbage dump...yes the jungle is nice, but not the beach, which is full of bottles, chipbags and other plastic!!not worth the trip....

This is a small beach, very similar to any other private beach. It’s not so crowded. There is paid parking available. Also a couple of small shops to pick up snacks and water. There is a 10-15min hike to reach the beach. The beach is clean and well maintained.

Nice beach but crawling with touristic shops on the way. Everyone wants to stop you to pay for parking in the end we still had to pay 100/- to access the beach with our scooter. The beach itself is nice and peaceful especially in the morning as we were the only ones (and off season). Still a nice place to relax with a little beach bar at the bottom.

Very nice beach with nice views. However have to careful if kids go bathing there. Not much crowded as its a hidden place. There is a japanese temple and you can look over the bay from there and its very beautiful specially in sunset time. There are street shops and restaurants also.

Going to this place is like a real adventure. You have to hike down through the jungle to get here. It's quiet fun actually. Attracts a few tourists and most people recommended the place for a safe sea bath. I wouldn't say the view is mind blowing but the geography and the landscape is something quiet unique and i would say it's a very nice experience. I cannot really ensure the safety of you if your going alone but for friends and family i think it's a safe journey.

Such a beautiful beach for being relaxed and spend time with each other. There are heavy crowd in holidays. Be aware with local vendors they sell items in much more higher price than normal price.

You do have to hike a little down from the main drop off point. The coffee Blue and White is really nice and the owner is very outgoing and sweet. He made our stay very special with showing us the best sunset spot and dinner.

There are two ways to reach the beach: one is a paved path with a few steps, and the other is a slightly adventurous hike through the trees. Opting for the tree route, we found it a bit scary and even a tad risky at some points, but our local friend assured us it was safe. The beach, once reached, proved to be pleasant and clean. Initially, there were just a couple of people, but as the afternoon progressed, a decent crowd gathered. There are a few shacks offering food and drinks. Overall, it's a nice beach, and the experience was quite enjoyable.

"I had two different experiences: mountain hiking and taking a bath at the beach. Firstly, you can enjoy a refreshing king coconut drink at a reasonable price. Then, you can embark on your adventure to have these amazing experiences."

I was there during Poya, so it wasn't as quiet and relaxing as my photos suggest, but it was mostly SL beach goers rather than overcrowded and overpriced Unawatuna. There's a beach shack restaurant that is priced for its location and difficulty of supply, but it's less than Unawatuna. I can't vouch for quality because I didn't eat there, but I can say they were very nice and friendly with me and my questions.

A beautiful small beach, which is popular among local and foreign tourists. You can experience hiking when visiting this beach through the walking path. Please do not litter the beach.

Beautiful small beach away from busy area. Few restaurants and snack stalls closer by. From the end of the road you need to walk to the beach on uneven steep section. So no wheelchair access to the beach.

Very clear waters. Parking is available for 200/= to 300/= rs on the way to the beach. Blue waters so cool. Try to go in the mornings as the sun can be very strong around noon.

It was ok. Don’t visit this beach if you are gonna take taxi or walk to much. Its was crowded, and only one bar/rest and always full and busy. So bring you food and drinks with you.
