We got the bus from the bus stand to Hikkadua. Although the bus station was crowded we managed to get the right bus with some help. The fare was 100 rupees. Given the journey time and the distance the trip was really good value. Bus was not too crowded. Definitely an experience.

This bus stand was however was totally destroyed in the December 2004 tsunami, which claimed thousands of lives. As a relief measure the JVP built a temporary bus stand after the calamity. Work on the new modern bus stand commenced on October 23, 2010. Among those who played a leading role in this project was Dr. Ramesh Pathirana, MP, son of the late Minister Richard Pathirana, whose cherished dream had been to provide the town with a new bus stand. Chandima Weerakkody, Manusha Nanayakkara and all other parliamentarians and Provincial Councillors in the Galle District gave their maximum support to the project. The bus stand is 161 meters long. Its width is 10 meters. It also has a commuter flyover. A colourful overhead Bridge has been built across the Holland Canal from the Main Railway Station adds colour to the new bus stand. It also has trade stalls, a canteen, Automated Teller Machines, a resting lounge for the disabled and sanitary facilities. Another highlight is the construction of a roof top to protect from a sudden disaster situation. Many Parliamentarians were present at the opening of the bus stand which can accommodate about 700 buses at a time.

As a local Sri Lankan historical place, this bus stop must be very moderated and covered from rain. this location usually in down south is rain fall and see breezed. so must be renovated by the Galle municipal council. highway buses and other connecting buses are just parked in the open place on the other side of the main bus stand and railway stand after the busiest main road, which is very inconvenient.

This is the longest bus station in Sri Lanka. Busses are available to all major destinations across Sri Lanka. And one of the busiest bus stations in the country . Anyway it should be maintained better. Public toilets here are unclean and smell bad.

A bit hectic but buses to Colombo and Ella are important for tourists. Bakeries and small supermarkets are right next to it. Right next to Galle Fort

Be aware for bus drivers who are scamming the tourists. Bus from Galle to Mirissa is 175LKR one way per person. They overcharge 1000LKR to those who do not do their research or speak up!!

Galle Bus Stand is undeniably a bustling transportation hub. As one of the busiest bus stands in the area, it can be quite hectic, especially during peak hours. However, its strategic location and extensive network of routes make it a crucial transportation hub for travelers looking to explore Galle and its surrounding areas. Be prepared for crowds and a fast-paced environment when visiting.

At the time of opening, this was the best in down south. There were televisions with time schedules, free wifi. But now, cannot see at least one television or CCTV working well 😐

Almost every bus to and from Galle can be found here. Name boards are really helpfull to find busses. Highway busses are parked in the other side of the road.

Well maintained bus stand. There are most basic facilities in the bus stand. Easy to access railway station. Anyone can find busses using big name boards. But, there are no place to stop long distance buses in bus stand, they must go to the bus halts near the stand.

While not the the best place it is not a bad place. There are two washrooms available (One for men one for women). There are areas that you can sit and wait for a bus on the ground floor and 1st floor. If you want to buy somethings such as snacks, reloads, books, or food there shops available on both floors (mostly on the upper floor)

The bus stand has toilets, tourist information centers in the ground floor and book shops, restaurants and other shops in the first floor. All the things are well organized

Here you have many bus connections, and it is an important city in the south of the island. It is always very crowded, it is a very active area. In the surroundings you find many shops of all kinds, also supermarkets. If you need help there is always someone who can guide you, or the station chiefs in their booth take care of informing you. You can also resort to bus drivers or ticket sellers. If you are traveling through the south of the island by bus, you will always pass through here

Public transportation should be developed in Sri Lanka to supply good, comfortable transport services. It is still not achieved. Public Transportation system is wasting valuable time of people, which can be used for other day today well being of them.

It is the main bus stand and operates direct buses to many cities in the island. Very comfortable place. Facilities here also include separate restrooms for women. Business locations are also active inside so you can get what you want right here. The first floor has places to relax as well as dine

Nice, quick and cheap way to travel. I used for transfer from Hikka to Dewata beach. From Galle there are also comfortable busses to go to the airport, but they are near this station, about 100 m.
