Exactly what you would expect and want from a diner. Good food, friendly staff, and interesting stuff on the walls. For the reviews that complain about cash only or ATM, I’m not sure how many more signs they could have about it being a cash only place. Food was very reasonably priced, sausage gravy was made fresh (as advertised), eggs were done over medium as asked (hard to get sometimes), and it came out fast. Only critique was the biscuit was just ok, I’ve had better.

About 9 or 10 years ago I was living downtown and looking for a job. This was one of the places I stopped in at to try my luck. I had the opportunity to meet the owner, I asked him if I could fill out an application. He obliged and handed me a paper application. I asked if I could borrow a pen or pencil and he scoffed, giving me a nasty look, "You're looking for a job and didn't bring a pencil with you?" Bro you're running a restaurant and don't have a pencil to briefly loan? Incredibly arrogant, condescending encounter. I left without filling out the application (why would I want to work for someone like that?). Anyways, a decade later and I still remember that interaction. The memory of the sheer amount of arrogance has forever turned me off of ever eating here. Why would I want to support someone who acts like that?

Travels took us back to Indiana for a short time … and I was craving a breaded tenderloin. For breakfast? Sure thing! And the waitress did not even think I was crazy. It was delicious. The diner is clean, safe and efficient. My husband and I would be a regulars if I didn’t live in North Carolina!

So far my favorite place in the city. Very kind prices for being able to pick a lot of items individually. Delicious hot food. Pretty sure my server took care of the whole place. Very well done and beautiful decor too with the vintage cameras. Can't wait to be back

Only one wait in this busy restaurant, and she never seemed rushed she took her time to answer any questions we had. Perfect service, tasty food, great coffee!!!! I will go again when I'm in the area!!

What can I say, it's a diner. There's nothing that makes it super extraordinary, but it's a good diner. Food selection is good and service is nice. Would go again, but probably not a frequent stop for me.

Ambiance is cute, has a hole in the wall vibe just wish the food was actually up to par to justify calling it a good hole in the wall restaurant. Sadly they couldn’t get the eggs cooked correctly, sausages were only cooked on one side till they were dried pucks, pancakes were decently tasting just dry. Sad after being told by a waitress they never have someone leave disappointed we had high hopes just to be let down by yet another lack luster breakfast spot in Lafayette.

This restaurant is on its last limb. The staff is clearly bothered by black customers. The wait to order was long. After we ordered we sat for a hour waiting for our food. I was getting impatient but my girlfriend told me i should be positive so we waited. A couple came in about 30 minutes after we ordered, and a hour in they get their food before us. The staff didn't seem too even care that most of the customers wasn’t even talking, we all was just waiting for food. They treat the restaurant like their own house, and they have their own grandpa using up the last of his elbow grease in the kitchen. You can hear him just growling and getting frustrated with customers sending things back or items missing from orders. The lady at the door told us have a nice day, and i said you too being polite and she had the audacity too say no thank you. Wasted my breath, wasted a hour of my time, and wasted $5 on 2 cups of apple juice. Its a shame i actually had a good experience my 1st time here but this 2nd has replaced that memory.

Waitress was super attentive from the very beginning. Told us our pancakes would be coming out first and they are sincerely the BEST pancakes I've ever had the pleasure to eat....EVER! We went back twice in a 3 day weekend and ordered the exact same thing and was beyond pleased both times. New favorite breakfast spot after my husband and I's 3rd shifts at CAT!

This place is actually very good and value for money. It's a great hit among the locals but somehow the student community of Purdue hasn't discovered it maybe. I personally love it and it's my go to breakfast place in Downtown. They serve hot coffee with refills, amazing pancakes and one of the best toasts with eggs you can get around.

I picked up breakfast here this morning and the b&g tasted like paste and had chunks of flour in them. First experience here and won’t be back. I usually don’t write reviews but I don’t want someone else to waste their money.

Stopped in, on our way to Missouri from Ohio. Pleasantly surprised with the old school diner that you can’t hardly find anymore. Prices are very good for a great breakfast. It was cool to see the photos, old cameras and memorabilia on the walls. We seen a couple of posts about being understaffed. My opinion is “ya who isn’t, seems like no one wants to work anymore”. They still take good care of you. And if your there 6-630am you can miss the rush.

Friendly staff and a very atmospheric building with wonderful old movie posters, newspapers and vinyl records on the wall.

Im not sure where the food reviews are coming from, but it's a certified NO for me. I placed my order for pick up on my lunch break and the food wasn't ready within the given time.I waited an additional 15mins. They were only two tables being served so it's not like they were busy. I saw the cook grab my piece of chicken breast out of the freezer with no gloves. He came out of the kitchen several times touching the doors and everything else he needed and went right back to prepare the food with no gloves. I finally received my food and the chicken breast had no seasoning whatsoever. Totally bland. On top of that, the small amount of French fries I got for my order which I paid $15 for was absurdly small. However the white guy sitting next to me who dined in, had so much fries that he was offering some to someone else. Not only did I waste my lunch break time, I waste my money with this bland food and a small portion of fries. I got more lettuce than fries. Never again.

This place is a super cute and homey diner with good food and incredible service! It has a very welcoming environment and the server was prompt and very friendly! They appear to be a family-owned & run business, and they also had some lovely handmade earrings made by the grandmother of the girl who was serving. I had a really great meal and nice time this morning there!! Note: As of the time this review was written, they only accept cash there so make sure you bring cash! (Also, I have to apologize - I've gotten so used to paying with card and writing tips on the receipt instead of paying cash at a register up front and it completely slipped my mind to leave a cash tip on the table so if the girl who was serving this morning happens to see this I'm so sorry - the service was amazing! The next time I come back to town and come in I'll tip double for sure! 😅)

Love the homemade biscuits and gravy. Staff is very friendly and makes you feel like you’re eating a home-cooked meal at home!

Not impressed. Ceiling is full of water stains. Silverware was dirty, cups, had bite marks. There's a 1.75 fee incurred at check out just to pay for using debit. Will never go back.

Wait staff were nice and the location and atmosphere are great. That's where it ends. The coffee tasted weeks old. My mushroom and cheese omlet was made with canned mushrooms and Velveeta cheese. Wife had fried potatoes and gravy. The potatoes were not fried and the gravy had no sausage and was tasteless milk flower mix. Best part was the toast. If you are visiting your student at Purdue, go to XXX or Joes Pancake House or even IHOP.

This is your classic diner with historic decor. The food is good and the prices are great.

Hands down the worst breakfast in my life. Don't expect any homemade style breakfast since they use frozen and boxed items to make food. To add the this the service is bad.The salmon I got smelled bad and the mozzarella sticks felt gross.

If you were here 30 years ago, not much has changed. Probably, because there is no need to change. Healthy portions. Tasty breakfast grub. Tight seating. Tighter bathrooms. Superior service. This is a phenomenal place to debrief from a night of shenanigans or to just have a cup of Joe and B&G. Good breakfast diner.

The one star is simply for the service because it was decent. The food on the other hand...easily the worst breakfast I've ever had in my life. I don't know if they pay people for 5 star reviews or if I just caught them on their absolute worst day. The omelette was terribly flavorless, the hash browns were bland and cold, and the biscuits and homemade gravy that they brag about tasted like wet flour. I will not be returning, and I don't have many good things to say about sunrise unless you're not picky about your food having flavor. The lady working was a tad dry but nice and considerate. I truly wish the food was better as I LOVE breakfast food, and I tend to stay off of the internet with making reviews, but this experience was pretty horrible.

This little place downtown serves up some tasty breakfast at great prices. We came during a Farmer's Market day and parking downtown was a bit hard to find. I tried the Western Omelette and it was great. The Coney Tenderloin, however, was rather flavorless and kind of a disappointment. I'd recommend sticking to breakfast. Our only complaint was that service is super spotty. The first time our server must have been having a bad day, as she did not seem like she wanted to be there. We all have those days. Came back a second time and service was awesome! The third time it took almost 2 hours to get out of there. If you're an IU grad, be sure to check out their IU room!
