If you want to feel like you've been transported to Paris, Reve serves the best bistro food in the Bay Area - hands down. Every one of the many meals I've eaten there has been memorable, but the latest one was to die for - their recent winter menu additions are fantastic. We started with garlicky, buttery bread dipping required escargot and melt in the mouth gougeres, before feasting upon beautifully tender veal sweetbreads and the most deeply flavored and comforting mushroom risotto I've ever had (with the addition of an extremely generous - see photo! - shaving of black truffles, a steal at $20 add on) All of the staff and owners are lovely, and they have a thoughtfully curated and decently priced wine list with some hidden gems you'd struggle to find at retail. Go feast on their winter menu and stumble home with your wallet a little lighter, but your stomach and heart immeasurably happier.

We came in on Black Friday night and started with that day’s special vegetable soup and the classic escargots. The soup is top notch, well-textured creamy base with a subtle lift of a special mixed vegetable taste. The flavor the escargots is at the lighter end of the spectrum. Be sure to leave some of the juices in the shell so that you can add them on while you are chewing their bigger than average escargots. Steak frites (medium rare) and ris de veau rôti (roasted veal sweetbread) are followed to wrap up the night. The thinner cut of the ribeye brings a more delicate tasting experience, the peppercorn sauce compensates well with the meat and most importantly - not too heavy. The offal flavor of the sweetbread is perfectly muted by the sauce, leaveing us only the joy of the tender and creamy mouthfeel. However, the best part of both entrees is no doubt the sautéed vegetable. Cooked to a perfect temperature, from just a day-to-day potato to morel mushroom, all the juice and freshness of each vegetable are held and packed with well-balanced flavor at the same time. In hindsight, we definitely recommend try out their sautéed vegetable dish if they have one on their menu of the day you visit. The dessert menu is relatively short but full of highlights, the floating island we ordered is definitely worth a try. The light mouthfeel from the briefly cooked floating egg whites compensates very well with the sweetness from sugar and vanilla. Service is amazing, fits perfectly with their comfort bistro vibe. Last but not least, please, drink some wine when you are in a french restaurant. RÊVE Bistro gets rewarded as Michelin Bib Gourmand 2021. Just like what this award suppose to be, this is truly one of the top (if not the best) reasonably-priced french restaurants in San Francisco Bay Area.

I'll call it a 3.5, but give them the 4 star because they were nice. Service was nice and very friendly. 5/5 Atmosphere was interesting. Tiny place, super casual. Would have liked to sit on the patio, but space was limited. 3.5/5 Food -. I really liked the complementary bread...but I was also very hungry. The escargot was good. The 16 oz steak was fine, nothing special at all. Pate was good. And the scallops were fine. Price - The food is very simple and casual. But the price is a little closer to something that would be higher end. 2/5 for value.

The mushroom risotto was amazing, the ribeye was underwhelming and the iles flottantes deserts was out of this world. Two disappointments was we sat inside and clearly the service team was not used to having guests indoors as they were very loud in the way they communicated with each other....and the biggest surprise was when the server took my wine ($700 retail) and decanted it out of sight...I've never seen that happen before. I hate to leave a 3 star as I really love what they do here, and while it's normally my happy place my last two experiences (yesterday and 4 days ago) left me a little disappointed.

Really mediocre food, and for a steep price to be honest. The chicken liver mousse was quite good, but everything else was underwhelming: The cheese puffs were extremely tasteless and uninteresting The escargots were about average The oysters were weirdly dry, and one out of the six was a cloudy white color and tasted off. (The other five tasted fine, but nothing special) The lamb shoulder stew was really sad. The meat was cooked and seasoned okay, but the vegetables were tasteless and soggy. The mashed potatoes were under-salted and pretty gummy

Absolutely phenomenal food and service. We had the gougeres which I cannot recommend enough. I've been to enough French restaurants to know if there's a beet salad to get it - and this one did not disappoint! Everything we had was delicious! Lamb shoulder stew was a highlight, as was Arleen who took great care of us! My wife and I both left talking about how we will be coming back soon. Highly recommend!

What an unexpected, yet wonderful experience!!! The food was outstanding and the service was awesome.... Thank You, Arlene, for being such a fantastic server!!! We totally enjoyed having you and just want to commend you for the outstanding attention you paid to us!! Also, special thanks to Laura, who made our accommodations so pleasant! This "Gem" is so welcomed!! The food is absolutely delicious and the presentation is A-1!! Four of us enjoyed dinner on Saturday and we weren't disappointed... what a lovely experience we had!! Anxiously awaiting our next visit..

It's not a fancy French restaurant, but definitely a gourmet French restaurant. Food is amazing. Service is excellent. Atmosphere is cozy and warm. Love it. No doubt it is Michelin mentioned. Only drawback is parking. Most of the parking spaces are compact and they are so tight. According to our waitress, they share parking spaces with the school next door. Maybe next time we will park there.

Paul is an experienced French chef. We have been there many times and the food is consistently good, artfully presented. Highly recommended.

Excellent food, wine and service. A quaint, casual French experience that you will love. Chef Paul and Laura are wonderful and everything that comes out of the kitchen is stellar. Don't forget to check out the wine list, there are some great finds at reasonable prices!

This is a hidden gem in a little strip mall. The outside patio is lovely and the night we were there, they had live music. It was really wonderful except… through no fault of their own, there was a power outage in parts of Lafayette. We were the first reservations at 5:00 and they said they could set everyone cold dishes until the generator arrived. We figured we were early enough so we took our chances. We ordered drinks and appetizers and enjoyed the beautiful evening and atmosphere. We had a nice table, but unfortunately it was near the generator. Luckily the music helped. We ordered salads. It would be awhile for the equipment to fire up so we didn’t wait to order a hot dish. The dinner and server were nice, but I would expect a nice restaurant like this to compensate us for the inconvenience. We stayed to give them the business, but Maybe being offered something complimentary would have been a nice gesture for the inconvenience and loud experience. Just something small would have been nice; the bread, appetizers or dessert… something?

Patio dining perfection! Our party of five came here to celebrate a birthday and they made it so very special. Arlene's service was impeccable, every dish delicious, the whole team friendly. We'll be back!

Delicious, Beef Bourguignon, Coq au vin and scallops. Also the oysters and artichoke spread were great starters. Only complaint was the French onion soup was a little sweet and the mashed potatoes over whipped and a little gluey. The chestnut spaetzle was amazing and desert, creme brûlée excellent. I would skip the truffles next time. For $20 extra I could barley taste them. Fabulous service. Best server I’ve had in ages. Also the restaurant is acoustically designed so you can have a conversation without shouting!

Scallops were delicious. I've had them before served a different way, also excellent. This time they were over a pea risotto. Yummy. Also beet salad with crab was wonderful. Service fantastic. Dessert was okay. I had the fruit tart with pistachio ice cream. Ice cream not great. I had the pear tart before which I thought was better.

I've been in the industry 30 years. I found this place to have great service: super attentive and kind (Arlene, thank you). The food is excellent and the atmosphere is cute. If you want a non pretentious neighborhood bistro, Reve is it. My only complaint is that the cleaning product they use is so powerful, you can smell it throughout the restaurant. The vege side dish was a little mushy, but the rest of the food was divine.

Rêve has made us “des habitués”. This authentic French restaurant has become our favorite in the Bay Area (all categories) and we come here on a monthly basis. It’s always a pleasure. We’re greeted with smiles and excellent service every time. We continue to be impressed with new additions to the menu and are thankful the classics are always available. The wine list is well crafted. We’ll be back next month.

We split the Reve salad and had the lamb stew and the salmon as our entrees. We had the apricot tart of the day. In our opinion, the entrees were overpriced and the Tarte was burnt. We don't think that Reve is a good value.

I had an excellent meal on the patio with a lovely harp playing in the background. The food was great. I started with a bowl of the soup of the day, which was a chilled corn soup. Flavor was great. Very refreshing. Me and my friend then split the muscles and the special duck. Both were show stoppers. It was really great experience with memorable food.

Enjoyed charcuterie, French onion soup, steak frites, and chocolate mousse for dessert. Paired with wine. Tasty food, friendly service, everything was amazing and we all had a great time. I will definitely be dining here again in the future, this place is great!
