Restaurant

👍👍 An absolutely incredible restaurant and experience. It is genuine Portuguese food, a real authentic and lovely dining venture. Amazing prices in return for such a memorable meal. This amazing place is only a few minutes from busier streets, but so much better in every sense. Probably the best meal... People often mention restaurant, meal, squid,

An absolutely incredible restaurant and experience. It is genuine Portuguese food, a real authentic and lovely dining venture. Amazing prices in return for such a memorable meal. This amazing place is only a few minutes from busier streets, but so much better in every sense. Probably the best meal I have ever had, and definitely the best restaurant in Lagos. The atmosphere is relaxed and inviting, the owner and staff so friendly, personable and genuine and the food unbelievably delicious. I had the onion soup au gratin for starter, which was so warming and none like I had tasted before, such an individual touch. My main was rump steak ‘Portuguese style’ which was so tender, juicy and perfectly cooked. Our dessert was a baked apple poached in port, and was so sweet and topped off just an incredible meal. I couldn’t recommend this place enough, I hope to become a regular!

Genuinely the best food i have ever had in my life. I’m serious this is a must try hidden treasure in Portugal, in all of Europe. I loved the owners, a man and his wife, and her incredible cooking. The wine was amazingly paired with my squid, which squid is something I don’t usually enjoy. The garlic oil sauce drowned in a delicately grilled squid led to the most flavor burst of oil soaked fish explosions in my mouth. I cannot believe I am alive sometimes, and this is one of those moments.

The food was amazing, Antonio was an incredible host. It was so good that me and my friends went out of our way to eat here twice. The wine selection is also extremely interesting, they also have vintage wines, some dating back to the 1940s or older.

This restaurant was an unexpected highlight of our trip in Lagos. It is a 2-3 min walk from both Adega and Dona Maria residences so we will be coming back many times. The service was exceptional and the food was some of the best we’ve ever eaten. We tried their specialty, grilled squids with garlic and olive oil among other phenomenal dishes. Highly recommend. We met the owner, Antonio da Costa Matos who also owned the restaurant Alpendre and was featured in the European Michelin guide for many years. He has been a sommelier since the 60s and has priceless wines in his cellar. It is away from the Old Town but worth coming in for a wonderful time.

We were welcomed and seated right away with a reservation. Our waitress was friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. Got the rack of lamb and garlic squid. Both had a lot of flavor and cooked just right. The owner walked around to make sure everyone was having a good meal and also thanked us on the way out. Would most certainly come back.

Listen up. I’ve had quite a few steaks in my lifetime but nothing compares to this. A nice old couple run this beautiful restaurant with slow Italian music and present great atmosphere. The food was my personal favorite in all of Europe and I highly recommend to anyone. Additionally the wines were my favorite in all of Lagos. An underrated treasure of heavenly food. A can’t miss in if you’re in the area.

Truly amazing restaurant. The owner is genuine, welcoming and kind and offers an authentic and incredible taste of Portugal. The best meal we had in 5 days in Portugal and easily one of the best meals I've had in my life. As many other reviews state, the squid is amazing - rich, garlically sauce and fresh perfectly cooked squid. I had the lamb rack for main which was perfectly seasoned and cooked. My wife had the onion soup and Portuguese style steak, both were beautiful. After these amazing dishes we couldnt help but have a dessert, and the port poached apple was incredibly simple and delicate but mouthwateringly delicious, really topped off the meal. After a few days of searching for something good in the touristy areas of Lagos we were delighted to find this gem and it made the last day of our trip truly special

😐 This was a super nice restaurant, good food and fish. The waiting line was long but moved quickly. All good food wise BUT the one big disappointment was however the conditions of the dog. Its a huge good boy that lives near the swimming pool behind the restaurant. Probably a guarding dog. Such a lov...

👍👍 I had a seafood dinner after sunset at Antonio, and I tried Chef’s Hake Fillet, it was really delicious! This is the first time in life that I had hake, which is not readily available in the U.S. and China. Highly recommended!
