This beach was one of our favorites in Lagos. We went for sunrise and we were all alone for about an hour and a half. In order to get to this beach, you need to arrive at Parai dos Estudantes (do not enter Roman Bridge Lagos into your Waze/google maps, you won't get to the right place). You'll go down a bunch of stairs and on your right, there will be a cave in the rock that leads to the part of the beach with the Roman bridge. It is such a beautiful and unique sight. I highly recommend visiting early morning when there is a glow and fewer people. There is paid parking at Parai dos Estudantes, but it is limited.

Loved the surrounding beach, but the bridge is not accessible because it’s connected to private property

I came across this bridge during our kayak tour. Such a beautiful location, one of my favourite parts of my time in Lagos.

Picturesque, stone arch between two sandstone promontories…so we visited this incredibly beautiful shoreline of south Portugal and discovered several amazing historical structures. The ruins here are from a Phoenician fort and a later Roman one connected to shore by a bridge. This is a reconstruction, retaining the historic style. For some reason, a private home recently constructed has blocked access to cross bridge. So we just were able to admire from afar.

Lagos has plenty of History, no need to make stuff up! 🤪 This bridge has nothing to do with the Romans, nor the Phoenicians it is from a site that no longer exists, part of which was (re)built around 1762 (post 1755 tragic earthquake). You can walk and swim under it but you cannot cross it as it is private property and currently belongs to a villa built in the 50s. (No celebrity lives there either) 😅 It is part of the landscape of one of many great urban beaches in Lagos.

Beautiful beach with historical significance. The bridge is not really accessible from land.

Absolutely stunning. Up there with my favourite places to visit in the Algarve, it’s easily accessible and surprisingly quiet for May. Well worth a visit.

The bridge itself is private property. The point is not actually to walk on it. It is to take great pictures from the beach below, or the sea, or to swim or pass under with a kayak or a small boat.

Could not find the actual path to the bridge but the search was worth it. Beautiful views of an interesting structure.

Nice view, but we could only admire it from a distance. It's inaccessible and that appeared to be permanent.

In my opinion, this bridge adds a unique charm to the surrounding landscape! It is actually one of the reasons why Estudantes is my favorite beach. Mandatory stop for photography lovers, especially during the sunrise 🤩
