Make a reservation if you can - it is busy even in the slow season. There were a few larger groups - seemed like a nice place for a celebration. It had a charming European decor and the wait staff were attentive and professional. The food was presented nicely and was flavorful.

Four of us had an amazing lunch here. The service was exceptional and the food just as delicious. The seafood was very fresh and the pork chops really good. The restaurant was able to provide gluten free food for my husband too. All of us highly recommend eating here!

Delicious food and very friendly staff. I like the seafood bowl and lamb chop. There are lots of restaurants in the old town. Most are fully booked. If you like us did not book in advance, better try out this and nearby restaurants as they tend to be larger and have more tables.

Average at best, there are better restaurants to go to in this price category. The chorizo we had as a starter tasted like pure alcohol, the “medium rare” steaks we ordered were medium to well done, the waiters were quite attentive, but the overall atmosphere was so so. It wasn’t very lively, no music was playing I didn’t really experience the authenticity they’re portraying.

Very busy place - you need to queue up in order to get a table. Quality of the food was excellent. Service is old fashioned but absolutely correct and they turn out to be very sweet and kind guys. Definitely a recommendation.

We've had grilled sole and sea bass and it was amazing! Very fresh and tender, so were the vegetables and potatoes. The house wine was also great, I would strongly recommend that. Not impressed at all with the starters we've ordered, which was the chorizo on fire, olives and bread, as they were all without taste. We'd go again to try some other stuff.

Upon a friend's recommendation, my wife and I decided to visit Don Sebastião, and what a delightful experience it turned out to be! The service was truly outstanding, with a friendly waiter who effortlessly guided us through their menu suggestions. The portions were impressively generous, matching the incredible flavours of the food itself. My wife opted for the Robalo, and it was nothing short of sublime. Cooked to perfection, the dish retained its moistness, while the prawns and garlic infused it with bold and rich flavors. We can't recommend this place highly enough for a memorable foodie experience. Additionally, you absolutely must take a moment to visit the restroom; it's an opportunity to admire the sheer beauty of the establishment. Don Sebastião truly has it all, and we're so glad we didn't miss this hidden gem.

We dined at Don Sabastiao while in Lagos twice, it was that good. We had a lovely experience sitting on the patio, service was friendly and efficient. There is usually someone out front playing live music which added to the atmosphere. We had the cataplana shrimp/mussels/clams which was delicious, the crab salad came in a cored tomato and which added to the freshness of the dish. We also had oysters the size of my palm, and the whole sea bass was grilled to perfection. Everything was delicious!!

Very disappointed by my visit to this Michelin Star restaurant, and surprised they have one. The service was terrible. I was dining alone, and while that should not be a factor, I think it was. I ordered water 2 times, and finally got it after my main course was served. I was not provided a napkin until I asked for one, again, after my main course was served, and they took my fork and knife with my starter, and never replaced it, even after they served my main course. They were extremely rushed, not aware of the needs is their customers (and the needs were very basic!!). The food was equally as disappointing. I order tuna cviche, which was ok. Was nothing great. I got the sea bass fillet, which was supposed to be de-boned, but was full of tiny fish bones as I ate it. It was pretty flavorless. The crème brûlée was at least good! They nailed that! Overall, wouldn’t recommend.

For us the food was very hit or miss. The bread and olive oil was okay, but the oil was pretty bland. The onion soup was awesome, but the bread soup was basically just garlic. I'm pretty sure I smelled horrible after that. Finally we had the cous cous dish and the tofu. The couscous was good, the tofu and rice were pretty horrible. It was described as a soy sauce dish, and I'm pretty sure that's all it was because it reminded me of when I first tried making an asian sauce. Shame on me I guess for ordering asian though.

Loved this place, location, atmosphere, service and absolutely the food! Prices were reasonable and portions were very nicely presented. Both mussels on the menu were excellent! The soups were lovely and the attention to detail was marvelous. Loved everything!

Tried getting in 3 nights in a row. No luck! On our last night we got lucky and walked in for 2. Absolutely amazing experience. Had the stuffed crab, cataplana, and rack of lamb. Everything was amazing and decently priced. I would highly recommend. Ask for Rubin, he made the whole experience better and even gave us a tour of their amazing cellar. Would recommend and would go back

Don Sebastiao is located in the center of Lagos, in a historic building on the well-known shopping & restaurant street Rua 25 de Abril. Don Sebastiao is recommended by Michelin for its good traditional Portuguese cuisine. Restaurant Don Sebastiao offers its lavish Portugese meals for low prices. Besides fish and meat dishes, there are also 4 vegetarian/vegan dishes such as tofu with rice and couscous with tomato sauce and vegetables. Soups cost 3.50. Main dishes from 12 euros. Desserts from 4.50 euros. On the street side is a large terrace, where you can enjoy watching the passers-by in Lagos. The restaurant itself is classically/antiquely decorated. The waiters are traditionally service-oriented, and the tables are nicely covered with linen. The impressive cellar contains no fewer than 75 different port wines. tip: Good to know is that the restaurant is not only open for lunch and dinner, but also in between. So also an ideal place if, for example, you want to eat at 4 or 5 o'clock, and all other restaurants are closed. Highly recommended for an old-fashioned good meal!

Really nice european restaurant with a 5 stars service, try to go early because there is a lot of reservations and people knows about this place. We enjoy the fish (Dourada), greek salad and Cataplana de marisco. Excellent wine and drinks menu

We really spent a beautiful dinner in Don Sebastião restaurant. The food was amazing, my boyfriend took the fish, I took the meat with a delicious rosé. The portions were really generous. One of the best restaurants we did druing a trip with my boyfriend.

We dined at Don Sebastiao as walk-ins (group of 4) and waited approx 15-20mins before there was a table available for us. It was worth the wait. The service was good - waiters spoke English, friendly and knowledgeable. For starters we ordered the chorizo, Pate with a side of bread (Pao) and Carpaccio Baclah. For mains we ordered the Fish in Cataplana and 2 Person serving of the Seafood Rice (Arroz de Marisco). The portion sizes were incredible and the flavours so delicious I had to leave a review. Would highly recommend and dine here again if ever in Lagos again.

The seafood rice had lots of seafood (clams, mussel, all size of prawns and crab), well seasoned and hearty. We also had grilled fresh king prawns, swordfish fillet and clam stew. The service was decent. Bit pricy coz of the king prawns.

Excellent experience!! All waiters were nice and eager to please. Food was excellent, I had the pork cheeks with sweet potato puree, they were fantastic. Flavorful and meat was melt in your mouth tender!! They stayed busy for getting a table, worth the wait.

Excellent food, wine and service! We stopped in for lunch right when they opened and had the chicken in a pottery pot and a few smaller appetizers. Did not disappoint! Only reason for four stars is because the tables were quite crammed outside and there weren’t many options for 2 people… most of the tables are round for 5-6 people so tough to fit a bigger group or to accommodate couples.

We went last night and stood in the wait line. Wait was probably 15 minutes and man was it worth it. The food was amazing!! I got the sole grilled, my husband got the prawns. We started with the melon. Great bottle of wine recommended by waiter. We would definitely eat here again.

😐 This was a super nice restaurant, good food and fish. The waiting line was long but moved quickly. All good food wise BUT the one big disappointment was however the conditions of the dog. 👍👍 I had a seafood dinner after sunset at Antonio, and I tried Chef’s Hake Fillet, it was really delicious! This is the first time in life that I had hake, which is not readily available in the U.S. and China. Highly recommended!
