Well maintained, great pool! Rooms are spacious but a bit loud. The decor with the fashion theme is a bit misguided considering the location and guests. Staff is friendly and nice. The food is not up to the standard of the hotel. Quite basic and poor quality. All in all we had a great holiday there but happy to not be having all our meals there.

The hotel is very modern and elegant, the rooms are spacious and clean, the poolside is very beautiful and not crowded. This hotel has the most kind and helpful staff I have ever seen in a hotel. They helped us with everything we needed and they answered all our questions. The only critique I would have is that the food is very basic. It's tasty but there isn't as much variety as in other hotels. Our room also had a leaking shower and the extra bed that we ordered was very uncomfortable. Overall a good hotel for the price.

The quality of the breakfast very disappointing for the level of the hotel. We tried the Pizza restaurant and the other restaurant a la carte and both were extremely disappointing too. For example, a pumpkin cream that was the most watery soap I ever saw. Swimming pool extraordinary and rooms very comfortable. Spa is also a great addition.

The hotel is situated about a 15 minute walk the other side of the marina to the town so you may want to get a taxi into town. If you choose to walk it is flat and well paved with plenty of street lighting late at night. The rooms are of a high standard with a free safe and mini fridge. Each room has a large balcony or patio area.the restaurants are very clean and well staffed and the breakfast has very good selection of everything you could want. The pool area is big and there seems to be a limitless supply of free sunbeds. The beach is only 100 metres away with a couple of beach bars. Sunbeds on the beach range from €15 to €18 for two beds and an umbrella.

This place is for families with small children only. It is enormous, has a big pool and and all inclusive plan for families. There was literally nowhere to go to avoid the sounds of screaming children. I have 3 kids, and I adore them. But they are past the screaming phase. Listening to other people’s kids crying is not my idea of a vacation. They have some ridiculous policies, like charging 20 euros for a missing towel ticket - don’t lose it! The shower was alternatively too hot and too cold. The staff are clearly not happy because they are grumpy and not helpful. The garage is dark and has no signage. The food is mediocre at best. We really really did not like this hotel.

Quick review... If you lIke lazing around with next to nothing to do and eating bland foods with lack of variety. Then this is the place for you ROOMS...lovely, modern, vary clean and spacios POOL... huge, very clean, plenty of beds and umbrellas during End of May however no entertainment or music RESTURANT... breakfast not to bad decent variety. Lunch is awful no variety unless you like vegetables and grilled meat with no moisture. Dinner not great, often lacking variety and saucy dishes. Food often lacks flavour. POOLBAR... my only fault is lack of tables to eat at. The food is delicious and served very quickly. The staff are amazing, super friendly and a true credit to the holiday. AL A CART RESTURANTS... INEViTIVAL is awful offering no variety at all so we couldn't eat there. MASSA FINA is just an Italian restaurant nothing special, we used twice. Both times food was bland ENTERTAINMENT... 20th May we have been here for 11 days and there has been 3/4 evenings of entertainment consisting of someone singing. Other then that there is no entertainment and no music throughout the day and night. EVENING BAR... Nice drinks however there was a lack of cocktail variety. Every day was uncomfortably hot in there and drinks sometimes took a long time to be made however the staff are extremely friendly. LOCATION... unless you are happy to walk a while in very hot temperatures its not ideal. 25minute walk to Lagos town which is a nice town however once you have been once you don't need to go again. Lots of nice little resturants if portugues cuisine is your thing. And the shops all sell the same things. Travel is expencive by Taxi and there are very little excursions on offer. Beach is lovely and quiet however the sea is very often choppy. I'm 27 and usually visit 4-5 star hotels

Nice clean family hotel, the service is average, make sure as a family to order family rooms only as even though we received confirmation 6 month prior to our stay of connecting rooms for our families they weren't connecting upon arrival and the hotel staff explained that they can't guarantee such order..eventhough this was a specific order I made when booking the hotel and it was also on our email confirmation from the hotel! The hotel found a different solutions the second night of our stay, (booked for 7 days) and yet was unpleasent situation as our kids are all small and we needed to split up as a family...on a family vacation. The beds are not that comfortable but the rooms are being kept well cleaned each day so that really nice. The pool is spacies and great. Most of the staff is very nice but service level is very low and everything is self-catering. The food is average and you need to stand in line for the main courses (fish, steaks, sausages) also breakfast you need to wait for pancakes, I really suggest that these things are pre-made.

From the very moment we arrived Villa Gale welcomed us and cared for us. The Hotel is set in three different areas which helped us to locate all the different areas. The pool was fabulous and set at the very heart of Villa Gale. This became a place to bathed everyday in the 27 degrees and when we needed to cool off a dip in the pool was so refreshing. Two members of staff stood out and were so caring and helpful. 1. Amaro Clearly he has some difficulties to contend with, but he was superb and maybe a little slow, but every time on time he got it right! 2. Jennifer What a shinning light, full.of joy and such attention to caring for you. As you approached the bar, she smiled, caught your eye and served you. Please can you share not just our appreciation of these two, many other couples said the same.

The hotel is in a perfect condition, always clean, spacious, bright. There’s an indoor pool and spa, where you have to book in advance. The gym is open from 7am, and there is enough space in the garden for a morning run. There’s a huge outdoor pool with plenty of sun beds around it. The kids’ pool and play area is further away from the big pool, with trampoline and other toys. The beach is just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel. We had only breakfast included in the price (so can’t share any experience with the lunch and dinner options) which we found really nice - you can find the full English breakfast, beautiful fresh fruits, cheese , salami, fresh vegetables, juices, pancake, jams …. Everything was fresh and delicious. Housekeeping staff always polite and nice, unfortunately we can’t say the same about the reception- sometimes just didn’t pay attention and didn’t care about guests. The location- it’s a good point that the hotel is remote from busy shops or any loud entertainment facilities, but there’s not even a pharmacy or any place where you could get essentials (for example we didn’t expect that amount of mosquitoes and we were not prepared with anything agains them or for their bites - so had to go to town, find pharmacy then get back to the hotel …. and buses and their schedule is not really reliable) But I can say, we had a lovely stay at the hotel.

This hotel is very nice and a lot better than some of the 5 star hotels in the Algarve. Very modern interior and everything was spotlessly clean. The pool area is really nice however it was very windy during our stay. Staff were extremely friendly at check-in. Plenty of car parking spaces on site. Breakfast was good. The hotel is located about a 5 minute walk from the beach (hotel does not have direct beach access) and is about a 5 - 10 minute drive to the old town of Lagos. Would recommend if you have a car but if not perhaps go somewhere closer to Lagos.

Lovely hotel with generous family suites. Very peaceful next to the beach. It's about 20 minutes walk to town, but you can stroll along the beach boardwalk and enjoy the views. The beach itself is very quiet and clean. There are plenty of loungers for everyone beside the large pool, despite the hotel being full. Reasonable prices at the pool bar and spa. The kids' club is excellent. The staff are enthusiastic and really go out of their way to entertain. Even our eldest child, who initially refused to go, was quickly converted. Some small negatives/suggestions - 1. Limit/ban children's access to the spa. I went once and it was awful. Jacuzzi and pool full of kids and I couldn't get in. More kids than adults, and completely chaotic. Far from a relaxing space 2. Breakfast is a bit crazy/crowded at times. To be fair, the staff coped well with it and items quickly replenished. Have been in other hotels where you need to constantly ask for simple items like cups, plates, cutlery and everything constantly running out. Not like this here at all. It is however quite cramped when the breakfast room is full, and hard to walk around without being bumped into. Would be good if there was another small room they could use for overflow at breakfast when hotel is full. Although if children were prevented from running round the room, that would help! Small queues at peak times, so you may have to wait a little 3. Music/entertainment could be quite loud and intrusive around the pool at times. Needed earphones for the lunchtime workout, for sure! The Sunday without entertainment was blissful! I must add, though, that I'm the type of person who normally avoids booking hotels with any entertainment schedule or kids club, as I'd much prefer peace, and this was still within my tolerable limits Overall, it's a lovely hotel. We've stayed at Vila Gale Cascais 3 times and always enjoyed, hence we booked Vila Gale when visiting Lagos. Didn't regret it. Yes, it's a bit further from town, but we were so glad to escape to the peace of the hotel. If you don't feel like walking, there are plenty of Ubers, which are mostly under €5. Lagos is very busy in peak season, but the hotel and surroundings provided great respite

Good facilities. Friendly staff. Great location. However, there are some issues unacceptable for this brand of hotel and for their category. Starting with poor customer service. Many employees didn't speak Portuguese or had a hard time understanding it. Service was very slow (in an empty bar waited 20 minutes for a toast, whilst the beverages, that were served too early, melted) and sloppy sometimes. There's lack of coordination and staff, at times, seem to not know how to proceed. Front desk gave us information that conflicted with what was in the room. Apparently the room had outdated information. The hotel has a big problem with an ant infestation. They're everywhere: rooms, corridors, bar. Children friendly with good services for them (playground, swimming pools,...). However if you don't have kids, be advised of the confusion created by lots of kids in one space.

Definitely not friendly staff . No Iron in the rooms and they will not provide one if you ask. Room service sucks . Good luck trying to order something to your room … phone keeps ringing and nobody ever picks up. Only one small bar to serve lots of people around the pool. Restaurants are ok , not great .Across from the beach. Awesome pool. Rooms are good size and clean . Be ready to share your room balcony with rooms next door.. a small glass divider separate rooms but you can see your neighbors room . Overall is ok hotel/ resort but I will not come back .

Spa really needs to be more organized and treat the guests the SAME who are staying in the hotel and who come from outside to use the facilities. The manager in the spa wasn’t clear with her communication and didn’t tell me the cups for water is coming in some time. Instead asked if I have my own bottle. I said okay thanks, just in few secs another gentleman who spoke Portuguese asked about the glass and she right away replied itll be here five 5 to 10 mins in Portuguese. When I asked him what she said to him, he replied saying she said it’ll be here in 5-10 mins. It doesn’t matter how long it takes but she could’ve been a little more polite and could’ve replied me saying the same. in the end it’s all about customer service and it all comes down to the manger and to be a good example for rest of the team. Unfortunately I am paying for my service…I really hope vila galé lagos can work on the spa service etiquettes. This is the same manager who said to me before when I stayed in this location last year in the hotel for two nights. Why do I have small spa card it’s not for you. (that you get when you stay in the hotel). I was like I am staying here that’s why I have it. This sort of attitude and behaviour is just not right or should I call this discrimination. I truly hope the higher department can take note this. Thanks!

Beautiful hotel in nice location, good food and very lovely staff as well . Only complaint is that you can hear people in other rooms

Was a great trip! It is in an amazing location right by the beach as well as a 10 minute drive to Old Town Lagos. The only negatives are that the blankest/sheets aren't that comfortable. The bar workers can also be a bit clueless as well as to what is on their own menus. All and all a great trip!

Very nice warm friendly hotel. Will try to visit again. All good. Kids club and special swimming pool. Small children will love it. Bland beach very close. Take a land train outside to Lagos. Lots going on in Lagos.

We had a wonderful stay. Beautiful views from the room, varieties of breakfast and dinner w could have been with more option and had to pay to drink water. Overall enjoy our mini holiday.

Dinner was good, every night a corner with different cuisines. Breakfast was a little bit boring, same stuff everyday. Swimming pool is something special!! Room was nice and clean. In our room, you can hear the music from the bar. Its was very noisy.. The staff didn't care, very disappointed. Staff was ok in general, some were very kind. Cleaning people deserve a raise. Location is very calm and special. For me, this hotel was more a 3 star hotel.

We have stayed in hotel Vila gale for 4 times now, i think. We only go for bed and breakfast as we like to have freedom of choice for lunch and dinner. Hotel facilities are subherb. There is indoor pool and outdoor pool, kids club, golf course, and playing area. Plenty of choice. Staff is very professional and friendly. Food in the restaurant is nice and tasty. Location is great as well. Within a couple of minutes walk you are at the lovely sandy beach. Lagos town centre is within 25 minutes walk. We will definitely come back.

The stay at Vila Gale, was very relaxing and achieved everything one could want in a hotel/spa destination. The stay in particular was highlighted by one member of staff in particular, Andrea, who gave her time, dedication and expertise in the region Algarve. She never rushed a conversation, despite a multitude of tedious questions, and was very pleasant to talk to. Her advice was imperative to enjoying our stay in the Algarve and she is a true credit to the hotel. I would appreciate her being recognised in some way! We enjoyed our experience at the indoor pool and massage. There was a great range of amenities, with the spa, indoor and outdoor pool, bar with pool tables and dart machines, and probably other facilities that we did not know of. Was a real shame that we couldn’t go in the outside pool as it was too cold, hopefully maybe in the summer some time. The rooms were very spacious and modern, however the walls were quite thin so i could hear my neighbours talking. The only thing that was a bit disappointing was the breakfast as there was not much variety and flavour. The location was fantastic, was only a few minute drive to the old town centre. However I’m general, we very much enjoyed the experience and would love to stay at Vila Gale in Lagos again.

The reception member I encountered at check in was unhelpful. I asked for a quieter room and was told the only option was a room overlooking a grotty filling station. I refused that one and was told that was it, take it or leave it. I asked to speak to the manager and the staff member disappeared for 10 mins and came back miraculously finding another room overlooking the pool I asked for 2 extra pool towels as we forgot to bring our own, sorry not allowed. A couple in front of me were told they could only have 1 room key between them. I held out for 2 keys. What happened to customer service and satisfaction?

  • 4/5 Kash R. 1 year ago on Google
3.5 id say , Looks like a five star and the rooms feel like it. Food let’s it down and service. Watered down coke and no real food post breakfast available e.g have to use pool bar to order food all day. Long wait for room service and NO IRON AVAILABLE. Good potential but more can be done to this place. Overall satisfied with the stay and would come back as it was a very comfortable and clean place. Also worth mentioning the breakfast was really good

Second visit to Vila Gale. Nice hotel with lovely pool area. Breakfast choice is good, but the staff need more training in clearing and noticing things. Cleaning should be higher quality. The hotel needs a bit of vibrancy.

You pay 250 Euro per night and will not be provided with interior slippers and proper amenities. No slippers unless you pay for a premium room (it does not count if you are upgraded to a premium room, you have to pay for the premium room, otherwise no slippers). Amenities are only all-in-one soap, hand soap, basic towels, blow drier and toilet papers. No iron, no tissue, no shower gown, no slippers.

Went out to for early thinks giving. Very nice hotel and everything was tasty, well seasoned and abundant. At the Hotel Vila Galé Lagos. Very nice buffet, unlimited wine. Buffet had turkey, pork, roast beef and individual gravy, salad bar, bread and cheese board, desserts galore and coffee. Quite a layout. We normally shy away from buffets but this way very well done. We're thinking of spending coupe days there just to break the routine.

Beautiful coastal hotel/resort next to the beach. Rooms are well air conditioned in the summer. Breakfast was included.

Stayed here for a 3 days after getting married in Albufeira. Very clean and tidy rooms, staff are amazing and a real credit to the hotel. Shame about the food. Breakfast was bedlam , one toaster that didn't work properly and just not large enough to cater for amount of people. Lunch has very little choice and was sometimes cold. Little or no choice for vegetarians. Also the hotel should do more to promote and market their own produced on site fruit and their fine wines. Rather than the tasteless fasion photos your greeted with at reception. Overall , we enjoyed our stay here. Swimming pool was large and clean but few shaded areas. Great for families idealy .

We stayed 3 nights in this location (2 persons in a standard room). The hotel room was dirty when we arrived. We had the feeling that only towels and beds where made during the stay. The breakfast is horrible organised. Everybody is sitting where he wants and running around in the tiny room (timetables for the small amount of tables would be nice). The outside spot doesn’t have any sun protection (we stayed in June there!) Food is not good at all. For example juices are concentrates from big tabs (all other hotels we stayed in Portugal served fresh pressed orange juices, even 3 star hotels). Also we booked a room with garden view, but we got more of a roof view. For me this is a restricted view in a place where there is nothing around! A lot of marketing is done, but this hotel needs a modernisation in structure, rooms and service. This is not a four star quality at all! We experienced four stars in Portugal in different places and this is by far the worst place we stayed in. Even for package-tourism it is not a four star quality. One star is for the gardener who keeps the location looking nice from outside (marketing) that’s it.

  • 3/5 Cheran W. 1 year ago on Google
Underrated for a 4 star hotel, staffs at pool bar are mostly unfriendly young xperienced staffs and food was delicious but had to wait for a long while. Dinner was not bad, could be better with more choices and variety of food. Otherwise Animation team was great,. Great location. .

Hotel is fabulous, great location and wonderful staff. Plenty room around massive swimming pool. Only ate there at breakfast but a super variety of food every day. All staff are so helpful and reception very efficient. Taxi to marina about €5.
