Tonight my husband and I drove a little over an hour to come eat here to celebrate my anniversary. We had a lot of restaurants to choose from, but this one had good reviews and the menu online seemed upscale. Overall the visit was alright. There was nothing wrong with our meal or experience, but it just lacked a wow factor that would justify the prices. The restaurant itself wasn't all that nice. There was paint peeling off the wall next to the table we were seated at, and there's no flooring in the bathroom (looked like a convenience store bathroom.) Also they had all the cups and silverware on a table in the center of the room which looked kind of tacky. Ordinarily I'd be fine with all these things, but when I am paying over $40 for an entree (and still having to pay $9 for a side, I just expect things to be much nicer than they were. We got the duck appetizer, the stuffed quail, the snapper, two sides of macaroni, and the brownie for dessert. The only thing we got that I feel was adequately priced and worth getting again was the duck appetizer. Everything else was pretty normal dishes with exorbitant price tags.

The most lavish hidden gem I have yet to find in Lake Charles. Amazing food. Plethora of liquor options and attentive staff. Will be back soon.. Must try their Winter beet salad, when in season. The cuisine is creole inspired. Bbq shrimp full of flavor.

First, let me start by: I really wanted to like this place… Unfortunately, as you can see in the picture: that didn’t work out. Our outing started out nice for my birthday brunch, but half way through my “chefs choice” omelette I was in for a rude awakening. I was pretty grossed out at what I found in my omelette (dark hair) and even more so at the conflict resolution between my server (Mary) and the Chef’s resolve. Firstly, we brought this up very calmly and kindly to our server and asked her if she could please take the plate away and she was apologetic (and SUPER soft spoken). I asked her as a alternative to the situation if she could bring just a new side of pulled pork and avocado sauce (the filling of the “chefs choice” omelette). I was extremely shocked (and even more grossed out) when she came back and said “chef inspected for more hairs and said it was clear and replated it for you”. 😳 I was really confused as to why they would replate the same omelette I was grossed out by and found the hair in and try to pass it off as okay. I was simply asking for a “new side of the pulled pork” I don’t know where that got lost in translation… When I asked our server (Mary) for the check, my girlfriend noticed she charged us for a pulled pork sandwich ($16) when we ordered a $22 chef choice omelette. We brought it up to her and she mentioned she wrote a sandwich when she first took the order. Very confusing and seems avoidant on behalf the management here. I figured a manager or even the chef would have tried to come out and resolve or at least be apologetic about the unwanted hair in my food. Sucks that this was my birthday brunch experience. Unfortunately, we won’t be coming back next time. 😕

Calla is a really nice restaurant and bar with a homey feel to it. They have a good selection of drinks with a nice open bar area. The seating areas are nice, open and have a family style decor. The craft cocktails are pretty good with a nice selection of ingredients. They have a nice touch with the branded orange peels and garnishes. Really enjoyed the smoky old fashioned. The pricing on some of the cocktails was a bit high, but were still very good. The food was tasty and the fine presentation added to the experience. We had the brussel sprouts which were really nice with the ham and seasoning, but over done with too much sauce that made it over sweet / salty. The same was true of the short rib. A little moderation on the sauces and heavier use of some spices would make a perfect balance. The wait staff were extremely nice and attentive. This lead to a positive and enjoyable experience. The bathrooms were very clean and well kept, thank you. Overall a very enjoyable evening. We will definitely come back again and hopefully soon.

It was a rocky start with a pleasant finish. I arrived in the restaurant at 10:33 am and was led to a table that offered seating that left one person sitting in a crack in the seat. That being almost offensive I asked the host if she would sit there, she quickly offered a different table. I wasn't feeling very welcomed by the time the server arrived at the table with the complementary water and for the drink orders at 11:00 am 25 minutes after we have been seated. I contemplated getting up and leaving twice during that time. The drinks and the blue crab beignet appetizer came out pretty quick. The blue crab beignet did not remind me of a beignet at all it was more like a tempura it was very good I would order it again. I thoroughly enjoyed my main dish . The chicken and biscuit is highly recommend. Pleasing service once it began and great food saved this from being a 2 star review. I hope this review will be helpful to my fellow diners and management. Management I recommend you go sit in the crack and eat your lunch .I also recommend moving a few tables around . If you placed a 4 person table in theses areas and sat two people next to a crack is far better solution than one person on top of the crack. (sorry we had eating two of the beignets before the picture)

So yummy! Reserved a table for Sunday brunch and was impressed. Good coffee, cocktails and food! There is a 4% charge for using a card to pay your bill.

This restaurant is a definite must stop. If you love Cajun food mixed with some love and all out fancy then this is the place to be. The food is phenomenal whether you get the crab bisque, the duck, a nice juicy steak, or even a all out American burger. The chefs will cook anything to make your taste buds jump for joy. And not to mention the spectacular crew they have working there. They definitely make you feel like you belong. So next time your in the area don’t deprive yourself of this amazing experience!!! 😋❤️ Definitely gonna be stopping there every time I’m in the area!!

My husband and I have been to Calla on multiple occasions and tonight’s experience was the best of them all. We sat at the bar with Hannah and Brandon and they were absolutely amazing. Brandon asked if I was interested an off menu cocktail and I was more than pleased with what he created. Hannah was very kind and attentive and made sure we had everything we needed as well. On any future visits we make to Calla, we will be asking to sit at the bar. The conversation was lively and the service was stellar. Thanks for an amazing experience!

The number 1 thing that makes me want to review any restaurant is the staff performance- Restaurant Calla has some of the most passionate, receptive, and professional staff I have ever seen in the area. I had the chance to see a lot of behind-the-scenes that most guests may not be privileged to, and I was impressed!

Calla an experience of a lifetime From the front entrance you are greeted by a lovely lady whom will start your experience off with a smile and seating selection. We opt’d for the outdoor dining area and the amazing sun set was an added bonus The wait staff on point from the get go and no option overlooked from the items on the menu All be it we had The Double Cheese Burgers and they ROCKED !! Delicious Starters was the cheese tray & Loaded ( Pork-Belly) Fries Yum 😋 Ok when in or around the Lake Charles area Experience For Yourself

The food was really good. It's a bit pricey but I enjoyed the drinks and food. They have a pretty good selection of beer on tap and the mixed drinks were good.

Neat place with a good vibe and ambiance. Went there during the day to grab a drink and check the place out. Sat at the bar. Good drinks and appetizer but also pretty pricey. Staff was friendly and good service. Would definitely go back .

This restaurant was so very good. They have a succinct but delectable menu of varying vegetable, seafood, meat dishes with inventive sides and salads. The cocktail menu features a good mix of top shelf and mid shelf spirits with bitters, herbs, liqueurs, spices and fruits. The only thing that's wanting is the dessert menu--there are only two options. You're bound to find a dish you love, though. Try the baked Mac n cheese, calla burger, Brussels and/or the calla brownie. So so good.

Great afternoon meal. Duck could be an entree if had a side or two. Bisque was the best crab bisque of my trip. Cocktails were good and I appreciate the upscale vibe. A hidden gem in a nice neighborhood.

Great food in a wonderful atmosphere. I had the scallops and the brussel sprouts. The scallops were sweet and delicious, and the brussel sprouts were cooked perfectly with a tangy sweet sauce drizzled on top. I will be back very soon. Very clean restaurant with a huge selection of wine and cocktail beverages.
